The Vello Infrared Remote Control is a compact and easy-to-use remote switch with a 15' (5 m) range for Canon digital cameras that support infrared triggering. All you have to do to make it work is to set your camera (in the menu) to accept remote triggering, then aim the remote at the infrared (IR) sensor on your camera. In addition, with cameras that take video and are set to video mode, pressing the "2S" button will control start and stop of the video capture.
The IR-C1 enables you to capture images without touching the camera, thus reducing image blurring and allowing you to concentrate on other things, i.e. interacting with your baby to capture a once-in-a lifetime expression or a fleeting moment.

It is incredibly liberating for those moments where the 10 second timer isn't enough time, where you need to make sure your camera doesn't move from pushing the shutter, and/or when you need extra mobility for some reason that might be unique to you, like if the camera is on top of a tall monopod or something. It is a lot cheaper than the Canon version. I just realized there was an app for my Samsung Galaxy player that can control the 5d II anyways....still I highly recommend this. I've missed/messed up sooo many shots due to lack of this control!!!

Great addition
Works great but came without any instructions so you had to guess what button did what. I did contact the manufacturer and they explained how it worked.

Works flawlessly. Good price. My only issue is that it came with no instructions and the extra buttons (s) (w) (t) were perplexing. I called B and H and was told they were for a camcorder and not a still camera. Hard to know that at first. As I say took a bit of figuring out but it works just fine.

About as simple of a product as you can get. Sure beats the Canon product at the same functionality and a much smaller cost!
Used it for star trails and it worked perfectly!

Functions flawlessly. Point it at the front of my camera, press the shutter button or the 2 second button on the remote, the camera focuses, and the picture is taken. The remote is very small and easy to bring along.

Comments about Vello IR-C1 Infrared Remote Control for Canon Digital Cameras:
Worked well for family photo. It only works where the camera is pointed towards you. I did not realize that the only sensor is in from of the camera. This is probably more of a camera limitation than a limitation of the remote.

I use this remote with my t2i (550d) and it works great. Very useful to prevent camera shake when taking longer exposures of self-portraits. For the price this remote can't be beat.

Very easy to use! Very sensitive, no need to be close to the camera! But the best thing for such a good control is that it was only a few bucks!
Highly recommend!

I love the buttons on it. I like when you pres the instant button there is very little or no delay. I also like the 2 second button. The range is great if you are infront of the camera. Great for anything I will use it for. In addition, you can't beat it for the price!

Nice remote for the 60D Canon.
Much cheaper than the Canon model.
Unlike the Canon wireless remote that I had to return because I couldn't get the battery compartment open, this one works like it should and at 25% of the cost of the Canon model, it's a good buy!
It is a bit bigger than the Canon version.
No issues.
