The Panasonic HDC-TM80 High Definition Camcorder provides HD recording to a 16GB internal flash memory and to optional SD/SDHC/SDXC memory cards. In addition to the beautiful, future-friendly 1920 x 1080 high def format and convenient flash memory recording, the TM80 comes loaded with a number of stress reducing shooting functions, digital still capture, and options for archiving, editing, and sharing.
Panasonic's Crystal Engine PRO and the 1/5.8" CMOS sensor form the heart of the TM80 - producing vivid, life-like footage with fast processing speeds. Other core features of the camera include a touch screen 2.7" LCD for intuitive control of the camera, a 33.7mm wide-angle lens, 42x Intelligent zoom, and optical image stabilization. All of these features work together to create clear, beautiful memories. And along with creating detailed video, the TM80 also produces crisp audio thanks to the built-in zoom mic and wind noise canceller. Without using an external mic, this built-in mic captures high-quality sound without added expense.

If the SDXC/SDHC/SD Memory Card is not big enough to hold all of the split data, use a DVD burner to create a disc with all the motion images as a single continuous scene
- Use the included software:
You can also use the editing software that is included with the camcorder to join the split data as a continuous scene
- Arrange the data that is split onto two types of media on an SD/SDHC/SDXC memory card:
- Pre-Rec Function
- This smart function records three seconds of images even before you actually begin shooting. The images are held temporarily in the camcorder's internal memory, before recording begins. This helps ensure that you won't miss the start of a moment you want to record, such as when an event begins all of a sudden. For example, if you're waiting to snap a shot of a jumping dolphin, you can press the REC button after you've made sure that the dolphin has cleared the surface of the water. The camcorder will record the entire scene, from the instant of the dolphin's jump until it disappears again into the sea
- Auto Power LCD
- The LCD brightness can be adjusted manually to suit the surroundings. In Auto Mode, the LCD brightness is adjusted automatically in 16 smooth steps depending on the surroundings. In darker rooms it adjusts to a lower brightness, making it easier to frame the shot. Outside, it adjusts to almost twice the brightness for easy viewing even on sunny days
- Wide Viewing Angle
- The LCD has a highly detailed, 230,400 dots display and a viewing angle of 170°, both vertically and horizontally. Images are clear and bright even when viewed from an angle, so everyone can gather around the LCD to enjoy on-the-spot recordings. The wide viewing angle is also great for taking high or low-angle shots
- AGS (Auto Ground-Directional Standby)
- The O.I.S. linear motor system can detect when the camera is in an unusual shooting position - such as when you've inadvertently left it on in recording mode. In these cases, the camera automatically stops recording, saving both battery power and media storage space
- 60 Frames/Sec High-Speed Burst Shooting
- This function lets the camcorder snap up to 60 consecutive 0.9MP still images per second for a total of 180 continuous images in about 3 seconds. The resolution can also be increased and up to 30 consecutive 2.1MP still images per second can be shot for a total of 90 continuous images in about 3 seconds. You can use it to analyze a golf swing, tennis stroke or other motion. You can also use it to get good shots of subjects in fast motion. Just fire off a number of shots without stopping, then keep the best ones and delete the rest.

- This function shows which subjects are in-focus by displaying their outlines in blue. You can easily check the focus on LCD when manually focusing, to ensure consistently clear, sharp images
- Composition Guide Lines
- With wide LCD monitors, it's hard to keep images perfectly level. The HD 80 Series solve this by displaying horizontal and vertical Composition Guide Lines that make it easy to keep the subject straight and level
- HA/HG/HX/HE Mode
- The TM80 is equipped with a built-in 16GB memory, and can be used together with a 64GB SDXC Memory Card to shoot for up to 34 hours 10 minutes. Choose the recording mode that matches your intended use - iFrame mode for maximum recording time, or HA mode for optimal image quality
- LED Video Light
- When the camera determines that the ambient lighting is insufficient, it automatically switches the light on. This illuminates your subject for shooting. The LED (light emitting diode) has low power consumption, a long service life, and the safety of a low operating temperature
- Color Night Rec/Color Night View
- Leave the light off. Color Night Rec/Color Night View gives you images with color even in dim lighting (1 lux)
- World Time
- Setting the time is as easy as selecting a city from the displayed map. The World Time function lets you set the time for two cities, home and destination. You don't have to figure out the time difference at your destination, and it's easy when you get home

I have been using it about 10 days. I bought it for home video. Camcorder is good, all is easy and quick start. All options are adjustable (on/off). There is short battery life, not enough even for 2 hours. Camcorder became warm after about 10 minutes of filming. Indoor filming I use maximum quality for getting good image. Low light-sensitivity. The built-in lamp is useful for filming at darkness. Good for outdoor video.
Of course it shouldn't expect outstanding quality for this price.

I tried this video camera at a big box store and compared it to a Sony product. I was able to zoom across the entire store and keep the camera still, unlike the Sony brand. Definitely would recommend trying out cameras and then coming to B&h to buy. The price was $100 cheaper. Ordered by phone and the sales man was very helpful and polite. Great Job will buy from you again.

This camcorder has a remarkable number of features that enable the user to customize it for any specific need. I purchased it to record a school play that will last about two hours. It takes a while to read the manual but certainly necessary in order to select the proper settings. Although it records in AVCHD format, the provided software makes it relatively easy to convert to MPEG2 for recording onto DVDs.

I haven't used this camera much but for the price, its a good little camera. The picture quality is great but no so much in low light. I bought this mostly for making DVD's (vacations, family events, etc.) After purchasing the camera I found out it takes a very powerful processor to make the HD DVD's. I had to buy a new computer (which I needed anyway) to make this function work. You may want to look into this before purchasing this camera or any HD camera.

Great home video camera. Exactly what I expected. Great product. Only downfall is if you plan on video taping little ones playing soccer, the camera is not capable of the fast back and forth.
It has the capability to add memory which was an important aspect when I reviewed the other video cameras. I also liked how it has still photo options.
Very light weight and small.

$200 cheaper than the [@] down the street; ordered and had it on my doorstep in under 2 days not bad for free shipping!!Camcorder is perfect, long battery life, 16GB built in storage with the capacity to put in a 64GB card. It is an ideal camcorder to have, my iphone is cool and all, but when you want a tiny tiny camcorder than can fit into your palm and no mess with garbage tapes. This one is it. Given what you get for the money, this is a great camcorder! It's tiny, light-weight, easy to use, and shoots great videos -- that's all I need as a non-professional user (we use it mostly for home videos and travel).
Picture and sound quality is very good and with the built in 16GB memory you're ready to shoot in less than a second! Would definitely recommend this product!

I researched for days to find just the right camcorder. Our daughter will be living in Japan for at least a year and I wanted a camcorder that could do everything, user friendly, quick start up, onboard light, built in lens cover, long battery life, built in memory, and compact. Well this is this the one to get with all the above mentioned. I couldn't get it away from my husband long enough for her to set it up and get acquainted with it. This gave her something to do on her 16 hour flight. He commented what a cool little camera it was. He never says anything positive about the things I pick out. So, with that said you know this camcorder is a winner. We will be purchasing another one for ourselves very soon. I can't wait to get some videos and photos from Japan!

only flaw i found was that the light is either fully on or off. There is no brightness adjustment. So in a semi dark area it may flicker on and off, if it is set to auto, because it can't decide. Aside from that, if's freakin brilliant!!

I brought this camcorder from B&H before New Year. It is a nice camcorder with all the feature I need. Talking about the picture, this cam give me a very nice outdoor recorder. But for the indoor use the quality is disappointed when compared with the other brands like cannon (at the similar price range). The functions are easy to use. I would recommended to friends if they are looking for the nice small compact camcorder for this price range.
