Casio's EX-ZR10 Exilim Digital Camera (Black) is a little camera that can: it features a 12.1MP CMOS back-illuminated sensor, 7x wide-angle optical zoom lens (28-196mm equivalent in 35mm format), advanced Exilim Engine HS processing power, 1920 x 1080 full HD video @30fps (plus slow-motion video @240/480fps at lower resolutions), and high-speed burst shooting of still photos at up to 40fps (3fps at full 12MP resolution). High-Speed SR Zoom combines multiple shots into a single sharp, clear photo, allowing the effective focal length to be doubled without loss of clarity (the 7x zoom is effectively converted to 14x, while retaining image quality.
The EX-ZR10 has a creative side as well, with a High Dynamic Range (HDR) program that creates beautiful, well-balanced photos from difficult lighting situations full of shadows and highlights (and an HDR-Art program for even further creativity using HDR) and a Slide Panorama function that allows you to shoot wide panoramic photos (up to 360°) without a tripod.

Comments about Casio EX-ZR10 Exilim Digital Camera (Black):
I use the camera for every day photos and as a camcorder. Impressive pictures inside and out, bright sun and low light. I was thinging about buying a dedicated camcorder, but the vedios for this camera are so good that I will not have to invest in a camcorder. I like all the modes to experiment with, eventually I will learn when to use these for better pictures, but in the mean time the basic operation yeilds very good pictures. I would like a paper copy of the operation manual, but am learning to work with the cd copy. I would also like to be able to recharge the batteries on the camera.

Comments about Casio EX-ZR10 Exilim Digital Camera (Black):
This is a Jekyll and Hyde camera, when its behaving it is the best point and shoot i have ever used and that is a lot of cameras. Awesome indoor, night, daytime and sports shots.
When its not behaving and this is mostly when your using the zoom, the pictures will be out of focus. I would say that about 70% of my zoom shots were out of focus.
Now if you rarely use the zoom, or if you are prepared to use the awesome CS mode then this is the camera for you.
The HDR mode is great, and the speed that this camera takes shots puts my SLR to shame. I was able to take the best sports shots of the kids playing basketball in my cul de sac ever.
However the poor zoom focus was the reason i returned this camera, i still kick myself for doing this and i might reorder this item.

How good is this camera? We're using to to take photos for background plates on a feature film I work on, THAT'S how good it is! And the video it shoots (with that amazing frame rate) is uncanny!

Comments about Casio EX-ZR10 Exilim Digital Camera (Black):
I'm an avid traveler and pilot. This camera is ideal as it packs a 7x optical zoom and when at full digital zoom of 14x image quality is only reduced to 10mp! high zoom photos might render poor quality with camera shake, and while there are a few image stabilizers, the fact that it shoots at 30-40fps ensures that one of those fractions of a second that one image is crisp and clear. It does this with its integrated HS (HighSpeed) processor, and while taking up to 40fps will optimize the photograph and still that has the least distortion.
HDR functionality while not as extreme as those composed with apps on the iphone as HDR pro where two very extremes are used, its true potential is seen with night scenes as it will ensure any subjects in the foreground are lit up by the cameras flash and a series of other photos are then taken to solve low light situations and ensure that background is lit up well. Giving you a very ideal night shot.
I've taken numerous videos at 1080p and this camera doesn't disappoint. very crisp at 30fps quality is exceptional. compressed at x264.
some shooting modes will allow for very fast capture, where you might fumble and loose a split second catching a car at a race around a corner, as soon as your finger half steps the trigger, photos are taken regardless that you havn't fully depressed the trigger.
Numerous shooting modes covers all possibilities and scenarios from preparing a photo for an item you wish to advertise online, to taking full 360degree panoramas that only require you to glide your camera to the selected direction capturing one seamless image as opposed to having to stitch them on your pc.
Premium auto is ideal for many shooting solutions as the camera will auto detect whether the composition requires macro or step the ISO for portraits with its facial recognition.
Overall an excellent camera, but will require some time navigating the HS menu and auto menu as many shooting modes are allocated under each of these main modes and can at times be confusing when you want to quickly set up that perfect moment.
A perfect price for this camera as prices on grey markets in hong kong are closer to the 300-375$ price range for said camera.

Comments about Casio EX-ZR10 Exilim Digital Camera (Black):
I am an avid travel shutterbug. I love simple cameras that are fast and easy to use, while learning its quirks and behaviors improve the photo taking experience. This beast is quite difficult to tame though.
While on first glance the ZR-10 shows good fit and finish, and keeping the number of control buttons to a minimum they could have improved on its controls still. The idea of automatic is to minimize on logic and point and click. The ZR-10 while took me a few days to iron out navigating from automatic shooting modes with use of Auto then accessing the menu screen where further options are listed below as BEST SHOT:
Auto, premium auto, portrait, scenery, portrait with scenery, Children
Sports, Candlelight Portrait, Party, Pet, Flower, Natural Green (forest shots)
Autumn leaves, Soft flowing water, Splashing water, Sundown, Fireworks
Food, Text, Collection, For 3bay, Prerecord movie, for youtube.
Then under HS or high shutter mode another menu is accessed where multi frame shots are composed:
HighSpeed CS, HDR, HDR art, Multi SR Zoom, Slide Panorama, Child CS,
Pet CS, sports CS, Child high speed movie, Pet high speed movie, sports high speed movie, High speed best selection, lag correction, high speed night scene, high speed night scene with portrait, and high speed anti shake.
In addition to the plethora of shooting modes the camera supports full 30fps 1080p video which is phenomenal. In addition to this high speed film shooting up to 480fps is possible but not ideal unless good lighting is present.
While not marked as HDR many of the shooting modes under HS are just that where multiple exposures are taken then processed to give the desired effect. While many who are users of the Iphone App HDR would know what High Dynamic Range photography is all about, this camera offers a one click solution which is composed quite quickly, without any mixing to the users delight or plight. I love the auto functionality of HDR but also love being able to make truly dynamic photos with use of +/- EV exposures and mixing. having that functionality would make HDR on this camera more desirable in my opinion.
Pro's
night images with scenery and portrait is PHENOMENAL. Finally get the photo of yourself in front of Niagara falls while the light show is taking place. The camera takes a series of photos where the background is properly exposed and one image fires the flash to ensure you're lit up well in that same picture. processing takes 1-1.5 seconds and you will be quite impressed as this is quite foolproof.
Highspeed best selection allows for a group photo where some might be moving around at some speed, with a burst of photos and editing on the fly allows for the perfect image with everybody's face properly exposed with no blur.
Highspeed anti shake. While many of today's super zoom cameras have very advanced anti shake motors which ensure there is no blur, Casio takes a very interesting approach with use of its very fast lense taking numerous photos and processing the sharpest image of the bunch from the high zoom composition.
Fast startup power up to photo taken in under 2 seconds.
Quick selection of auto and custom HS mode with separate buttons, also video has separate button.
Pricepoint - superb I had just travelled back from HongKong and can assure you even on the grey markets BH photo video has offered the lowest price at only $250USD.
1080p video 30fps with stereo sound!
Con's
sometimes shooting mode is clumsy. Being able to go straight from menu and selecting shooting mode you have to remember if the shot was in auto mode menu or HS mode menu. While the rear of the camera is quite minimal I see with a few more hours of coding that Casio could have reduced the button layout by atleast 2 less buttons, which would have left utilizing the camera on the fly much easier.
There is some noticeable noise in photos that are zoomed to the full 7x zoom but with better composition of light can be minimized. not so much an issue for low light situations though.
ENJOY.
