Simplicity, durability and environment-frindly - these are three keywords I would use to describe this product. As it does not require extra batteries, it would save you maney and environment.One-button and Lock-in capabilities. It means that the device would power up all the functions that can be activated on your camera by pressing shutter-release button on your camera. That might include even working as intervalometer, if your camera permits so. Not bad for a [$] piece if you compare to 130-dollar intervallometer offered by Nikon?

Comments about Vello RS-N1 Wired Remote Switch for Nikon/Fuji/Kodak DSLRs w/10-Pin Connection (2.8'/86 cm):
I needed a simple remote switch that would help me with my camera shots in long exposure mode. This turned out to be a great little device.
The remote is small and compact which is perfect to carry around without adding too much bulk or weight - I have enough carrying the tripod. It's got a screw in system to secure the pins to the camera to ensure that the pin doesn't get accidently knocked out or is lose when you are trying to capture that important shot.
I love using this switch to focus than take the shot, making sure I don't add camera blur to the shot like I might pressing down on the shutter button with my finger. I have a lead finger. You can also slide the button up during bulb mode so that you do not have to hold on to the button while doing long exposure shots. Perfect!
For the price paid, it's an excellent quality item and I have no issues with using it, I can't see any faults with it at this time.

Beats the Nikon Version price. Too soon to tell if it will last. So far ( A few shoots) it works as described. Definitely not a Pro remote, but good to have in the bag when you need it. Minimalist.

Comments about Vello RS-N1 Wired Remote Switch for Nikon/Fuji/Kodak DSLRs w/10-Pin Connection (2.8'/86 cm):
Can't complain when I bought it for [$]. Feels fine for my needs. The connection is good (on a D3), and it feels the same as the Nikon MC-DC2 I use on my D90.I don't use it much. Most of the time, I use a 2 second delay on the shutter for landscapes. This release is good for portraits, when you need to time the smile/expression.

Comments about Vello RS-N1 Wired Remote Switch for Nikon/Fuji/Kodak DSLRs w/10-Pin Connection (2.8'/86 cm):
I got this Vello wired remote switch to use with my Nikon D300. I used it recently in the studio with my camera on a tripod changing the light on a still life that I was shooting. It was easy to connect to the camera lining up the cord with the white dot on the camera next to the 10-pin connection. It might take a couple of attempts to get it in right, just be patient. There is also a ring that you can tighten down so that it doesn't pull out and stays engaged.
Then just press half way if you want to use auto focus and press all the way to take your shot. It's very low tech, but it gets the job done: pressing the shutter with no camera shake. The cord isn't super long, but I didn't need to get far away from my set up, just wanted to eliminate any camera shake.

Comments about Vello RS-N1 Wired Remote Switch for Nikon/Fuji/Kodak DSLRs w/10-Pin Connection (2.8'/86 cm):
This is a great little remote shutter release when working off a tripod. The cord is short which for me is perfect because I don't have to worry about tripping over it or winding it up out of the way. I use in when the camera is on a tripod & shooting portraits and I want to remove my head from behind the camera to interact with my subject. It will work equally well if I were to be shooting landscapes or have my camera in an ackward position. Price is fantastic.
