Comments about Vello ShutterBoss Timer Remote for Nikon with 10-Pin Connection:
Great product at a reasonable cost! I use this product when shooting landscape or when I need to use a very slow shutter speed.
For the price you cannot go wrong with this remote. The Shutter Boss is very easy to use. Some others had reported that they found it very hard to use. This is the first remote I have ever owned, but found it very easy to use.
I like the construction and the ease of operation so much, that I am also going to purchase the Wireless version and use this as a backup.
The only drawback is like others reported, the remote has no power button. But since it only takes two AA batteries, that is not a real big concern for me. Also, it would have been nice if it came with a case to protect the Cable that is attached to the remote. This could possibly become a weak link when the cable is folded up for storage. It appears that it puts some strain in the area where the cable is mounted on the remote.

Comments about Vello ShutterBoss Timer Remote for Nikon with 10-Pin Connection:
I don't plan on doing a whole lot of interval shooting so I decided to choose this unit over the much more expensive Nikon unit. My intended use is to shoot hours' worth of 1 minute consecutive shots of star-filled skies in the American Southwest. I am using this on the Nikon D700.
As I've been testing the Shutterboss, a few things occured to me. First of all, although the D700 can do interval shooting, it is limited to 30 second self timed exposure. This unit can be set from 1 second to just shy of 100 hours at 1 second resolution.
Second, even at shorter (daytime) exposures, setting up to perform a time lapse series is much easier than going through the menus on the camera.
Third, on the occasion of doing a single 'bulb' exposure, pressing the unit's shutter release button activates a timer that you can use to time your shot. This keeps me from having to activate a separate stop watch.
When using the self timer you can set the Shutterboss to any practical delay. Far beyond the 2, 5, 10, or 20sec that is built into the camera. That is if you need more than 20 seconds to get yourself into the picture. ;-)
I'm glad I bought this. As with all my toys, I will take care of it. So the plastic housing should not get any excessive abuse.

Comments about Vello ShutterBoss Timer Remote for Nikon with 10-Pin Connection:
This remote seam identical to the Nikon one, it seams well made. I have only used it a couple of times so far but like how it works. I use it for setting up time-lapse sequences and it works very well for that.
