Sony's Cyber-shot DSC-HX7V Digital Camera (Blue) is an image-making machine that allows your creativity to soar--a high-resolution 16.2MP CMOS sensor brings high speed, high resolution and amazing low-light sensitivity with superb clarity and greatly reduced grain.
The wide-angle 10x zoom lens (25-250mm equivalent in 35mm format) covers a huge range of picture possibilities, from expansive landscapes to telephoto shots of sports and wildlife. Full 1920 x 1080 HD video lets you make stunning movies for viewing on compatible PCs and HDTVs. The bright 3" LCD monitor (with 921K-dot resolution) makes it easy to compose your shots and check them during playback.
Optical SteadyShot image stabilization and sensitivity up to 3200 ISO eliminate blurry pictures due to low light conditions. The Superior Auto mode recognizes 33 scenes for photographs and 44 scenes for movies, and supplies the optimal settings for each one of them.
There are plenty of creative effects available too: 3D, 3D Sweep Panorama, Background Defocus (perfect for portraits with a professional look), and many more. For flattering pictures of friends and family, Soft Skin, Smile Shutter, and Anti-Blink modes give you the best pictures time after time. The HX7V even has a built-in compass and GPS!

I took this on vacation 2 days after it arrived and used it mostly under water with a water proof housing. I took over 1000 pictures in a week. The pictures we took came out surprisingly sharp. The panoramic feature is great.

Comments about Sony Cyber-shot DSC-HX7V Digital Camera (Blue):
I bought this as a carry around alternative to my Nikon D90 DSLR, and am very happy with it. It takes fantastic snapshots (great colour, contrast etc) and is very easy to use. It is not super fast (eg takes a second or so to turn on), although taking shots is plenty fast enough - its only the menus etc that are slightly slow.
HD video is also excellent for such a small camera.

Comments about Sony Cyber-shot DSC-HX7V Digital Camera (Blue):
This is a great point and shoot camera. Very easy to use and produces quality pictures. However, if you are looking for something ultra thin then this is not the camera for you. Personally it is just right for me but in todays age of smaller and lighter cameras this one can be considered "bulky". But if you don't mind then this camera won't disappoint you.

I used this camera on a recent holiday and loved the panorama setiing. So easy and the shots looked amazing.
The high resolution of the LCD made the pictures seem that much more vivid when reviewing on the camera.
I would definitely recomend this to my friends.

Comments about Sony Cyber-shot DSC-HX7V Digital Camera (Blue):
Purchased this camera for a trip to Europe--I wanted something nice, AND easy to carry and put in my pocket. This camera took fantastic pictures, and MANY pictures that would have otherwise been difficult. It automatically took and processed pictures that could NOT be taken with my sister's professional Canon camera.
The one thing we don't like so much is the placement of the dedicated MOVIE button on the upper right camera back. This button is right where your thumb naturally goes, and it is easy to accidentally push, causing us to record many movies when we wanted still shots. Having said that, the movie quality is excellent. Low light performance is excellent, image stabilization, auto mode, scene modes, smile detection (super fun to use) and all other modes worked very well (especially MANUAL MODE). Battery life seems to last all day, getting us through at least 400 shots and a few accidental movies with one charge.
I would definitely recommend this camera for compact size, ease of use, and superior performance. Would definitely have given it 5-stars if it weren't for the placement of the dedicated movie button (which is nice, but not placed well for me).

Comments about Sony Cyber-shot DSC-HX7V Digital Camera (Blue):
I had another Sony camera with x10 zoom, but the quality was not very good, in this camera the quality is great, pictures are very sharp and the macro gets good results, plus the LCD screen is very sharp and clear.
In short the quality in everything this camera does is amazing.
The only thing I don't like is the location of the tripod mount screw, it's too close to where the connection for charging the camera is located and prevents me from charging the camera if I have a small tripod quick release attached to the bottom, plus it would have been nice if the charger allowed to charge the battery directly, without the USB cable.
