Sony's Cyber-shot DSC-TX10 Digital Camera (Blue) goes where you go--to the beach, swimming, skiing, biking--with never a worry, because the TX10 is dustproof, waterproof (to 16'/4.87 m)), freezeproof (to 14°F/-10°C) and shockproof from falls as high as 5'/1.5 m. Not only is it tough as nails, the TX10 also takes gorgeous 16.2MP high-resolution photos and full 1920 x 1080 HD video, with its wide-angle 4x 25-100mm (equivalent) zoom lens. The CMOS sensor gives you high speed, high resolution and amazing low-light sensitivity with superb clarity and greatly reduced grain.
The bright 3" LCD monitor (with 921K-dot resolution) makes it easy to compose your shots and check them during playback. Optical SteadyShot image stabilization and sensitivity up to 3200 ISO eliminate blurry pictures due to low light conditions. The Superior Auto mode recognizes 33 scenes for photographs and 44 scenes for movies, and supplies the optimal settings for each one of them. You can even shoot 10 full-resolution images in 1 second with high-speed shooting technology.
There are plenty of creative effects available too: 3D and 3D Sweep Panorama, Background Defocus (perfect for portraits with a professional look), and many more. For flattering pictures of friends and family, Soft Skin, Smile Shutter, and Anti-Blink modes give you the best pictures time after time. Superior Auto mode automatically and intelligently recognizes 36 different scenes and instantly supplies the best settings for each one.

I bought this for my children (2.5 & 5yr) for them to use, especially in the water. I had to choose between the Sony DC-TX10, Olympus TG-810 and the Panasonic TS-3/FT-3. It was a tough call, because the Sony had the best overall features (ultra compact, CMOS sensor, 1080p video @ 60fps, 921k dots screen, 3.0" screen) but lacked a little on the "toughness". No one seemed to complained about the picture quality. And from the way my children navigate seamlessly through an iPhone, the touch-screen on the DSC-TX10 was a great advantage.
When I started charging the battery, I was a little disappointed at the fact that Sony does not use a standard micro USB port on the camera, but a proprietary connector (which means one extra cable to carry along).
At first, start-up seemed slow, but after entering in the date & time, start-up and lag time is very reasonable.
Picture quality is great for a little hand-held, and the videos were very nice and clear. Playback of video is very impressive on the camera, an experience I didn't have with other cameras. I also love the fact that videos adjust for exposure during recording, and you have the ability to zoom, something you cannot do with other brands.
I took the camera to the pool, and was impressed with the picture & video quality both over and under water. It was really fun watching the underwater videos. After the pool, I rinsed the camera with fresh water, and left it to dry. I did not open the gaskets until the camera was completely dry.
The camera has an "Easy Mode" which hides away most of the settings - great when I hand over the camera to the kids.
The touch screen does what it does well (not as good as an iPhone). Sometimes there's a lag, but still useable.
The camera survived several drops from about 2-to-3 ft. and one drop from a 12-steps stairs when my son decided to roll the camera onto the stairs. No signs of damage, but the paint has chipped off in areas where the camera was dropped.
Battery life seemed reasonable with stills, but is drained much quicker when taking HD videos.
Overall, I'm very happy with the purchase. The camera is a little tougher than it seems, but certainly not as tough as its counterparts. Excellent pictures & video quality, and decent value for money.

I bought this waterproof camera for marine leisure with my family. Most of the operation should be done by touch panel. However, the touch panel cannot be operated underwater. It was cleary stated in the manual page 8. Furthermore, touch panel may activated by water splash, and Sony recommends to deactivate touch panel operation even near water.
It is disappointing if you consider to use this camera near the water.
The unique features with Sony, such as sweep panorama, sweep muti-angle 3D are great.

Comments about Sony Cyber-shot DSC-TX10 Digital Camera (Blue):
This is a great little camera. It's fun all around camera. Pictures are decent. Video is great, and underwater performance has exceeded my expectations.Reviewing both pictures and videos on the rear LCD screen is a lot of fun too, especially amongst friends and family. It's super clear.I've also used the HDMI out to play back pictures and videos on a large screen and was extremely satisfied.Problems: Overall operation is slow. If [video] lag time is important to you, look elsewhere. The touchscreen response is somewhat (very?) disappointing. It skips quite often. Esp. after using an iPhone/iPodTouch/iPad/etc, the touch screen performance of this camera is a joke. The camera is not at all "tough" - the front sliding screen feels very flimsy for a "shock proof" camera. If you want tough, consider the Panasonic DMC-TS, Olympus Tough, or perhaps the Nikon AW cameras. After 5 months of use, my LCD touch screen became completely unresponsive. (This happened suddenly during a trip.) The only thing I could do is take pictures, videos or review the last picture. I could not play video, change settings or perform any other function that required touching the screen. (Luckily, I had the video setting on HD before the LCD became unresponsive.)I sent the camera for Sony to repair (under warranty), but Sony responded with an estimate that exceeded the price I paid for the camera, stating that there was a "cosmetic damage" on the front of the camera.Yes, there is a little scratch but this camera was supposed to be "Certified Shockproof : Yes (1.5m MIL-STD810F Method 516.5-Shock)". Besides the LCD touchscreen being unresponsive, the camera is in perfect working condition. No drops, nicks or scratches whatsoever.Long story short, Sony has decided to void my warrenty. Luckliy, though, I bought this camera from B&H which gladly took care of me - no questions asked. So 2 stars for the camera, and 5 stars for B&H.

Bought this for a trip to Costa Rica and was really impressed with the photo quality - amazing flash range, nice zoom, clear pictures, and HD video. Was never submerged but did get wet in the rainforest with no noticeable effects.

I was looking for a compact and more child proof camera with a faster shutter speed to capture my child on the go. I was not sure what to get, but received this camera as a gift. I could not be happier! I love it and all its features, and is able to capture my little one on the go so much nicer than my old camera. Plus is it so compact it fits in my purse and goes everywhere with me...I love it!

This is MUST have for people who loves outdoor activities. It packed with everything you need in one little camera/camcorder with greater quality compare to other comparable camera. I used to own various Olympus Stylus waterproof cameras, but the quality and technology won't even come close. Sony Cyber shot used to have under power flash issue, when object exceeds 5 ft away. This camera eliminates the use of flash in most of occasion because you can still have good quality picture even in the low light condition, because it has higher ISO capability. The only down side is the processing speed is little slow, it takes 3 second before you can take another shot, other than that I love the build-in technology and would recommend to anyone.

I bought this camera for my husband because the last 2 he ended up braking the lense and the other he fell in the creek for only a second and it was destroyed.
We tried it underwater and it takes great photos. Love that I don't have to worry about water damage anymore. Also takes great photos outdoors. Like that it's small and can fit in the pocket. Don't like the touch screen. It is not that easy to select the different settings. You also have to becareful not to get your finger in front of the lense because it is such a thin camera.

The camera is great & the video/movie function is good with very clear play back, panoramic function is simple & easy to use but the best feature is that camera is water proof & you can still use various functions under water. The gourmet setting is good for taking food photos.
A negative would be that when you have it on a high resolution setting it takes some time to process the photo that you just took. And not as simple as other cameras to down load the photos.

I bought this camera for my girlfriend for her 6 month post-college trip. After helping her test it out and get used to it, we both realized how powerful it was and were amazed at the high quality pics and video that the camera delivered. Unfortunately, it was stolen from my girlfriend in Switzerland two weeks after I bought it. I knew it was too good to be true.
Anyways, this is a great camera and I highly recommend it for the seasoned traveler as well as the average consumer who likes to take amazing pictures.

Comments about Sony Cyber-shot DSC-TX10 Digital Camera (Blue):
I mainly use the TX10 for casual photos, I am no professional. It takes good-quality pictures and HD video without me having to do anything at all. The images are candid, sharp and have good color representation, even when taking pictures at night with the flash, which is amazing. I also love the touchscreen, although sometimes it can be a bit more slow than conventional buttons. Haven't tried it underwater yet, but that't another great perk. The only thing not so great about it is the time it takes from turning it on to actually taking the first picture - about 5 seconds, which is not that much, but is enough to miss great photo material. If you need speed that much, this is not for you. Zoom is also nothing to write home about (4x), but this is a very compact machine, so you can't expect much. Overall, it is a great machine.
Comments about Sony Cyber-shot DSC-TX10 Digital Camera (Blue):
I owned about 3 sony cybershots. I have to say this one is one of the best (obviously it combines all the latest technologies). The picture comes crispy clear as well as video. I haven't tested the waterproof, shockproof etc function, for me these features are for peace of mind, in case accident happens.
