Sony's Cyber-shot DSC-TX10 Digital Camera (Silver) goes where you go--to the beach, swimming, skiing, biking--with never a worry, because the TX10 is dustproof, waterproof (to 16'/4.87 m)), freezeproof (to 14°F/-10°C) and shockproof from falls as high as 5'/1.5 m. Not only is it tough as nails, the TX10 also takes gorgeous 16.2MP high-resolution photos and full 1920 x 1080 HD video, with its wide-angle 4x 25-100mm (equivalent) zoom lens. The CMOS sensor gives you high speed, high resolution and amazing low-light sensitivity with superb clarity and greatly reduced grain.
The bright 3" LCD monitor (with 921K-dot resolution) makes it easy to compose your shots and check them during playback. Optical SteadyShot image stabilization and sensitivity up to 3200 ISO eliminate blurry pictures due to low light conditions. The Superior Auto mode recognizes 33 scenes for photographs and 44 scenes for movies, and supplies the optimal settings for each one of them. You can even shoot 10 full-resolution images in 1 second with high-speed shooting technology.
There are plenty of creative effects available too: 3D and 3D Sweep Panorama, Background Defocus (perfect for portraits with a professional look), and many more. For flattering pictures of friends and family, Soft Skin, Smile Shutter, and Anti-Blink modes give you the best pictures time after time. Superior Auto mode automatically and intelligently recognizes 36 different scenes and instantly supplies the best settings for each one.

this is my new everyday camera. I was using canon s90, GRD3 before TX10. This is perfect size, picture quality, and 1080 Movie(It is also working with iMovie perfectly). easy panorama picture and 3D Picture is one of great features on this camera.
Especially I love this is water, shock proof camera.
Touch is little bit hard compare with latest touch based smart phones but not too bad.
This is great camera. I bought this blue and black color.
Under max x4 zoom, picture quality is same as minimum zoom. AF is great too.
I liked black usually but blue is really cool color for this camera.

I wrote the earlier review about the lagging touch screen and seemingly flimsy lens cover. I am back from my trip to Europe and have some more feedback. Unfortunately, it is negative feedback mostly related to the user interface and functional items. It still takes fantastic pictures and video with a wonderful large screen. However, the touchscreen is still not the most responsive. Also, I found there to be a significant amount of lag from opening the shutter to being ready to take a picture, absolutely unacceptable to me. Also, the menu system was onerous. After taking a picture, to delete it you have to press play, then press delete, then press a button to say only that picture (versus all), then confirm the delete. That means you have to touch the screen FOUR times to delete one picture with a significant LAG between each touch. Please, hard buttons on the next camera. I would not recommend if you are even the slightest bit impatient like me. On the bright side, the lens cover is intact.

Comments about Sony Cyber-shot DSC-TX10 Digital Camera (Silver):
It is very compact. I do not use it for underwater, but for the same purpose as I used my DSC-TX1 before, i.e. video, still photo, Panaromic etc.
Nothing really great about this product.
DSC-TX1 was much better with a much responsive touch screen. This one is lousy and lazy touch screen. Also no improvement in picture quality. 3D is a big noise and 3D effect not visible on the camer's LCD screen, neither any software exists to see it on PC. This is the most useless spending I did so far. Just adding features does not add any value unless it is of good quality. I used to know SONY to be of good quality but all these new series are extremely poor products. My DSC-TX1 got spoilt after 13 months i.e. just after warranty was over, though I fixed by part purchase online. If I knew I could fix that, I would never buy DSC-TX10.
I recommend everyone to stay out of this new series.

Comments about Sony Cyber-shot DSC-TX10 Digital Camera (Silver):
This camera is easy to use with its advanced Auto modes, panorama shooting, Movie mode, and 3d shooting. I have yet to use the Program Auto, Background defocus, and scene selection. I bought the camera for the fantastic pictures and movie mode along with the waterproof feature. The movies turned out better then expected and with an added bonus of taking pictures while in the movie mode. Also when I hook up the camera to the television with an HDMI cord (not included) I can use the TV remote to control the camera. This feature was a nice surprise. The camera is light weight, so much so that it feels like there is little inside, but a good size and takes great pictures. The only thing that I have that is negative right now is that the touchscreen has a slow response when reviewing pictures.

Haven't taken it in water. Scared of the bad reviews about sony's warranty.seems like a nice little camera tho. Will put it to the test in cabo. Then come back and hike some snowy mountains with it. How can something be certified waterproof, shockproof, dustproof, and freezeproof, yet no one can get their warranty honored? Sounds very lame. At that point this is just another ok digital camera with an unreliable warranty, right?

purchased as a gift, for christmas, but till then,I have been putting it through its paces.
I have fell in love with it,and the fact that the video is HD and stabilized and can shoot in 16x9
in both stills and video, great for the hdmi hookup
to a HD tv.Lets face it,the old 4x3 printing looks
better in widescreen, and beats viewing on digital
devices,I-PAD,HD tv etc as opposed to 4x6,5x7 prints
in an album.Very easy to use, right out of the box.
No raw files though, and a outboard charger would be
nice.Get a spare sony battery and a 16 gig memory card and your set...Macros are great and easy too

Excellent purchase, camera compact but complete, with many functions in addition to being waterproof. great for travel. I recommend to everyone. Only problem is that it comes with memory, have to buy the part, and is a little expensive because it has to be special, Waterproof.

I have been using this camera for about two weeks. The video quality is amazing. Picture quality is also really good, but I am upgrading from a 2004 point and shoot. Haven't got it wet yet. Bad thing is it only comes with a wall USB charger. Cannot charge the battery by itself. Also it does not come with any cables to hook up to hi def tv. To get everything you need plan on spending at least another $100 at least.

Point and shoot.
Snap snap...
90% power don't turns ON and when finalay power is ON you have to set-up all the settings from the begining. Language, Time zone, date and time...
Vary irritating... by the time you finish setting over again you miss a shot.
Touch screen is also not responding most of the time... Vary slow on previewing alredy taken images. :(

We purchased the TX10 to take down the Grand Canyon - spending six nights on the river. Not only is the camera water proof but also has a Zeiss lens - the best out there. I loved the fact that you flip the cover to expose the lens and the camera is ready to shoot - sort of like drawing your gun and shooting whenever the scene shows itself. Everyone else on the trip thought it was great and wished they had brought one.

Comments about Sony Cyber-shot DSC-TX10 Digital Camera (Silver):
I had a DSC-T1, loved it but it got outmoded by technology (my father still has it). Got a DSC-T700 and loved it but it got damaged but not covered by Sony's accidental damage policy (their Sonystyle website is not accurate about their warranty coverage).
This replaces the Samsung TL225 that I bought after I swore Sony off. Well, I'm back after they added the waterproof feature and improved the camera features & made it rugged. The dual view was the only good thing about the Samsung.
Likes of the DSC-TX10:
- Photo quality is great.
- The Panoramic modes are awesome, love them.
- 10 FPS at full resolution, it is awesome
- Waterproof and pictures in the pool, very neat.
- Decent battery life compared to older DSC models I've owned.
- The video mode is excellent, lets you zoom in to 16X. No need for a movie camera.
Areas for improvement:
- There should be a way to turn the flash on quickly if the camera is set for burst mode. Fiddling with the settings to get a flash picture is cumbersome and a manual override for the flash would be great.

Took a bunch of shots indoors, not one out of focus! Choice of movie quality from full HD to VGA and you can record more than 2 hrs on a 4GB card in VGA. Not quite as comfortable to hold and shoot as the T5 was. Need to be aware of the left hand, fingers constantly getting into the lens.

I got this camera in anticipation of an upcoming trip to Europe. I own a Sony DSC-T9 and aside from having to use Memory Stick media, really like the camera. I got the TX10 for it's waterproof, dustproof, shockproof features (plan on taking it to the beach too). The screen is nice and large, but I think I would still trade the larger screen in for the hard buttons. The screen seems to lag and there are multiple layers of menus. The lens cover seems flimsy and is a bit difficult to open, especially compared to the T9. The camera feels more fragile than the T9 as well because of that screen. Overall, I'll give it a 3/5.
