I got this camera mainly for the video capability. It takes clear photos and clear video. I also liked the fact that it uses a SD card instead of the Sony brand only card. Can zoom in and out while shooting videos. My neighbor borrowed the camera and loved it too. Good Sony product as usual.

I've been a fan of Sony digital cameras since the DSC-S30, so I may be a little biased. This is my is my 4th Sony digital camera. I strayed once, but that won't happen again.
I'm not a professional photographer and don't see a need to buy too much camera for what I want to take photos of. Sony's point and shoot cameras have the right amount of functionality for what most people need.
I chose this camera in part for it's ability to take 1080 HD movies, which it does beautifully. The 3D capability is a bonus, but I haven't invested in a 3D TV yet, so for now it's just something to brag about to friends. My last Sony camera had 720p video recording, but no zoom while recording, and a limit of 30 minutes recording time per movie. This model has done away with those restrictions. The zoom proved a little noisy at first, but that seems to have subsided.
Another reason I chose this model is the sweeping panoramic photo function. Sony's PMB software has plugin called Movie Tracer that takes your sweeping video and turns it into a panoramic photo. It seems that they've put that same software into the camera now and it does a great job of creating panoramic shots.
Now, the main purpose of the camera...taking photos. I've never had a problem with Sony's picture quality, and still don't. The photos are crisp and vibrant. The camera may not have near the amount of settings as a DSLR, but when I'm out with my family or friends, I want to get the candid shots, quick and spontaneous. The camera starts up quickly and captures those moments wonderfully.
The only thing that comes near to being a complaint is the battery time. It seems that batteries have gotten smaller, but not longer lasting. It seems to be a common complaint for most devices these days. I don't have a problem carrying a spare (I do for most of my gadgets), so it's not got to take away from my opinion of this camera.
For the price, I think this camera is hard to beat. It's packed with all kinds of functionality and Sony quality is legendary.

It's so light and easy to use! I had the older version, and this one rocks even better. I can't seem to find the little flower icon for the super close-up setting, but I haven't read the manual yet either. This is really superior for the automated light adjustments settings, the lighting comes out perfectly every time. I LOVE IT!
