Kodak's EasyShare M583 Digital Camera (Black) is a lustrous 14MP compact camera with a secret weapon: a sharp 8x wide-angle 28-224mm (equivalent) Schneider-KREUZNACH zoom lens, from one of the world's premier lens makers. Starting with a true wide-angle 28mm that's ideal for landscapes, architecture or group photos of all your friends, the zoom range takes you all the way to a 224mm true telephoto that's great for capturing action, sports, or wildlife.
This is a complete digital camera--1280 x 720p HD video with sound, digital image stabilization, a bright 3" LCD monitor, 22 creative scene modes, up to 1600 ISO for low-light pictures are all part of the package. Kodak film effects can give your photos the look of a classic Kodak film (Ektachrome, Kodachrome, Kodacolor, Tri-X, T-MAX) or old-fashioned sepia. Automatic face recognition recognizes up to 20 pre-tagged faces, or 5 faces in a single photo, making it much easier to find, organize and share your photographs. And sharing your photos and videos couldn't be easier, using Kodak's simple 3-step sharing process.

Comments about Kodak EasyShare M583 Digital Camera (Black):
First one arrived broken. Only a pink screen would show up on the LCD when trying to take a picture or video, but the menus looked fine. B&H swapped it for another one that worked fine. I noticed the first one I got already had the wrist strap attached which is not normal for a Kodak. The second camera did not have the wrist strap. The camera works great so far and has a better design than previous Kodak cameras.

Comments about Kodak EasyShare M583 Digital Camera (Black):
I do not own any Kodak products (my wife has one), but I feel I have to review Kodak for their (lack of) specs.
I own a DSLR and I'm looking for a good compact to fit my shirt pocket.
One of the first specs I look for together with sensor size, is maximum aperture.
Kodak just does not specify this, and this unequivocally rules me out as a potential customer!

Comments about Kodak EasyShare M583 Digital Camera (Black):
I work overseas and wanted a good point and shoot camera.
Great, super clear pictures. On the same level of any Sony camera in the price range. The functions are easy and operate the camera correctly.
The body of the camera is sleek and thin. The only issue is that it is a harden plastic. I would hope at the $150 range, it would of been metal.
Micro SD not standard SD..not a problem
Still, the pictures are that super clear...many compliments.
