Kodak's EasyShare M583 Digital Camera (Red) is a lustrous 14MP compact camera with a secret weapon: a sharp 8x wide-angle 28-224mm (equivalent) Schneider-KREUZNACH zoom lens, from one of the world's premier lens makers. Starting with a true wide-angle 28mm that's ideal for landscapes, architecture or group photos of all your friends, the zoom range takes you all the way to a 224mm true telephoto that's great for capturing action, sports, or wildlife.
This is a complete digital camera--1280 x 720p HD video with sound, digital image stabilization, a bright 3" LCD monitor, 22 creative scene modes, up to 1600 ISO for low-light pictures are all part of the package. Kodak film effects can give your photos the look of a classic Kodak film (Ektachrome, Kodachrome, Kodacolor, Tri-X, T-MAX) or old-fashioned sepia. Automatic face recognition recognizes up to 20 pre-tagged faces, or 5 faces in a single photo, making it much easier to find, organize and share your photographs. And sharing your photos and videos couldn't be easier, using Kodak's simple 3-step sharing process.

My older Kodak broke and went in search of a replacement. I use the carmera for my work, so I need a good camera that can take photos with little work, I like a point and shoot camera. I have used it now for 2 weeks and the photos are great. The colors are sharp and so far so good. It is light in weight so easy to carry around.

This camera takes some REALLY REALLY REALLY nice pictures. As far as it being user-friendly, I prefer my older one (Kodak M883- so simple). I like the fact that it has so many options for taking pictures (scenes) and AGAIN the pictures are so so so SO GOOD
