Samsung's WB700 Digital Camera (Black) isn't just another high-resolution (14MP), long zoom compact digital camera--no, it's actually the very first 18x compact digital camera in the world, and that's not even the half of it.

Great pictures, adequate video, compact design make it a great camera that's easy to bring on vacation. I suggest you spend some time with the camera and the manual close bye as it has a ton of manual features, and a ton of automatic features. Just a great camera with a great zoom for the money.

Let me say up front that I'm no professional photographer. I bought this camera because I wanted one that was small enough to carry in my pocket, yet powerful enough to make me think twice about replacing the SLR I lost in my divorce.The most important feature of this camera for me was definitely its lens. 24mm and 18x optical zoom (and the 3x digital zoom) meant a lot of flexibility. And with both optical and digital image stabilization, it's functional flexibility. As for its size, I'm already impressed at how frequently I now have a camera with me which is resulting in many more pictures of my two young kids.As you'd expect, the camera is packed full of features to help amateurs like myself. I've read about but not yet tried them all. But at this point, my big complaint would be that it's hard to remember which features are available in each shooting mode. And since the "idiot mode" doesn't always get it right, that's an issue. Nevertheless, I'm starting to get it all figured out and, as I do, I become more and more happy with the camera.The final thing I'll note here is that I'm very impressed with the video. Don't have a lot of experience in this regard but, to my uneducated eye, the video looks good and, most noticeably, the image stabilization works very well. Lest anyone be wondering, you can still hear the zooming in and out in the audio, but it's not overwhelming. No idea how it compares with other cameras in that regard.As indicated, I'd certainly recommend this camera to a friend. And for the [$] I paid for it, I'd happily purchase it again if I had the opportunity.
