The Vello TTL-Off-Camera Flash Cord provides creative photographers with the ability to remotely fire off-camera Nikon speedlights. Removing the flash from the camera's hot shoe allows the photographer to create unique and dramatic lighting styles that are not possible with a traditional shoe-mounted strobe.
One side of the TTL cable fits directly into the camera's hot shoe to ensure that all of the camera's exposure data is maintained. The other side can be attached to any stand, tripod, or device with a standard 1/4"-20 threaded stud or flash shoe mount.
This coiled cord measures 1.5' (0.5 m), which is enough distance to accommodate hand-held lighting styles, or when keeping the flash mounted on a compact flash bracket. Shooters looking to mount the flash to a larger bracket or to a stand with an umbrella would probably need a longer version of this cable.
Other available lengths are:
| Cord Length |
1.5' (0.5 m) extended 9.0" (25 cm) relaxed |

I shoot weddings so I use a flash bracket. For the past several years I've used Nikon SC-17 cables to connect my flash to the hot shoe. The problem with that has been having to wrap the extra length of the cable around the bracket handle to keep it out of the way. Also, when the flash is flipped from the horizontal to the vertical position and back, the cable can get caught in the hinge. This little cable eliminates all that - it is the perfect length. It seems to be well made and locks solidly to both the flash and hot shoe. It seems like I paid nearly $70.00 each for the SC-17's, and under $15 for the Vello. I'll be buying more of these!

The short length is great, does not get into the way while using a flash bracket like the longer cords do. Great price!

This cable locks onto the camera and onto the speedlight. It is just long enough without getting in the way. The covering is not at all flimsy. I am sure it will last a long time.

Although I know this is supposed to be a short cable, it was shorter than I expected. I would go back and purchase the longer version.
As far as product use - it works great with my Nikon D7000 - and haven't had any problems.

Comments about Vello TTL-Off-Camera Flash Cord for Nikon SLR - 1.5' (0.5 m):
Very functional, cost effective, no need to get OE for this item. I wanted primarily for my flash bracket, and I got the short (1.5')because I didn't want any excess length hanging in the way. It works perfectly on my flash bracket, but I wish that I got the next size up (3')...the cord is compactly coiled so that I don't think the extra length would be in the way, or flopping around when used on the flash bracket, but would give better versatility for using flash hand-held at arms length from camera.

Wanted something to let me use my flash on an old bracket I had. This cord is just what I wanted. All connections are good and tight. Have only used a few times so far, but everything worked great.
No problems so far.

Comments about Vello TTL-Off-Camera Flash Cord for Nikon SLR - 1.5' (0.5 m):
I've got an SC-17, but wanted something shorter to use with a bracket.
This did the trick - it's the ideal length and doesn't get in the way.
Mechanically, it seems up to the task, though i have only had it for a little over a month and i have only used it on a couple occasions.

I use these with the Pocket wizard iTTL transceivers to get them out of the way and still mount SB900's in the proper location in a Photoflex speedring. does the trick I bolt the flash side of the cord right to the bracket and the transceiver upside-down saving space to the bottom using one of the supplied - Standard Shoe Type Flash Mount Adapters

Very nice that it's shorter than any other cord I've seen.
Works perfect. Great price.
I'm not too keen on the cord (where flash connects)facing out. When the cord is on a bracket it causes the coils to wrap in an inconvenient way.
