The Mace DIY CCTV 8-channel DVR with 500 GB & 4 Camera System Kit includes a 8-channel network DVR with built-in SATA hard disk drive (500 GB), 4 Indoor/Outdoor Color IR Night Vision Bullet Cameras, camera power supplies, and 100' (30m) video cables for greater distance without signal loss.
With H.264 video compression technology, the 8-channel Network DVR can continuously record live video for up to 15 days, enhancing the hard drive capacity and reducing the network bandwidth for real-time video streaming. The VGA port allows you to connect a PC monitor or TV display while the local on-screen control with easy-to-navigate menus enables programming using USB mouse, IR remote control, or front panel.
Using MS Windows IE browser from your PC or laptop, the DVR can be network connected for remote internet system management and video monitoring. The video recorder allows remote camera viewing over GPRS/CDMA/3G/EDGE mobile phone networks from supported smartphones. It records events by alarm sensor or motion detection and also supports e-mail notification with JPEG snapshot for alarm triggered events. Other features of the DVR include monitoring live video, recording, searching, playback, and backup security video events.
The IR Bullet Camera, with a 1/3" CCD imager and a 3.6mm lens, delivers clear images at a resolution up to 420 TVL. With 18 IR LEDs, the camera can offer evenly-distributed night vision for up to 50' (15m). A minimum illumination of 0 lux makes the camera suitable for both day and night conditions. The weather-resistant camera is IP66-rated and can be used in both indoor/outdoor environments.

I use this system as surveillance for my home. It has clear pictures at night and day. Very easy to hook up and use straight out of the box. I get great views of my front and back door. Best if used for shots within 20-30 feet.
