The 2TB Home Media Network Hard Drive, Cloud Edition from Iomega is a powerful and versatile network storage device with a plethora of enhanced online connectivity features. The spacious hard drive connects to your home network via a Gigabit Ethernet connector and works to bridge the gap between local and online storage -- which is also known as cloud storage.
You can configure the drive to automatically upload files stored within specified folders to Facebook, YouTube, and Flickr. Its remote data access feature allows you to access your data when you are away from home -- all you need is an Internet connection. You can also invite friends and family to view specific files or folders stored on the drive -- a great way for you to share family snapshots and vacation photos with relatives who think that Twitter is a little yellow cartoon bird who is constantly harassed by "puddy tats."
When you are at home, you'll be happy to know that the drive can stream multimedia files to UPnP/DLNA devices. This includes game consoles like the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Apple TV owners will be happy to know that the device has a built-in iTunes server. The Home Media drive also has a built-in BitTorrent downloader, which can grab files from the Internet -- even when your computer is off.
If you are in need of a network backup solution, it should comes as no surprise that this Swiss Army knife of a drive does that too. It can backup all of the computers n your network, and is also compatible with online backup services like Mozy Pro and Amazon S3. Mac users will be able to perform network backups to the drive via Time Machine.
Photographers will be able to download photos from a digital camera to the drive via USB. You can also set the drive to downsize and watermark your photos, perfect for those who wish to share their work online -- but don't want to see it stolen and reproduced without permission. The USB port can also be used to connect an external hard drive -- giving you more room to store files -- or to connect a printer -- making it easy to print from any computer in your network.

This product has many great features that may never be used in our small home network. It was bought, mainly, to store video content that can then be streamed to either on of two PCs, a laptop, a netbook and a Logitech Revue. One the Revue all content seems to go willy nilly into various folders. We attached another 1TB drive to the USB port and it appears that read-only access is available. Not the case when attaching the drive to a PC directly. For the most part I think this will be a great addition to our computer network.

In the unit I have, many faults. Within 2 days I lost access to a whole folder for no reason. Tech support had no idea despite online chats, phone calls and web reports with screen shots. Since then the unit has begun randomly going off-network, re-designating drive letters and making constant audible 'clicks'.
It may just be this unit, but I have requested an RMA for a refund. I would NOT risk this product as a replacement.

Comments about Iomega 2TB Home Media Network Hard Drive, Cloud Edition:
The Home Media Hard drive has all the basic network features and some bonus as well like ftp server, torrent download, UPnP media server, iTunes server and more. Though I encountered issues with firmware and was advised to get the latest one. I entered the web interface and everything I needed was there. It set the hard drive to static IP on my router therefore no worries about the current IP. I encountered an issue with my admin login. I was not able to enter the admin interface and a call to the tech support revealed that it has something to do with my username. I noticed that I used space, once I corrected this problem the admin interface worked fine.

The Home Media network hard drive is with me for almost a year now and it has performed all through.I would call the home media network HD a self contained network device that serves music, photos, videos and other files on my home networks. Anything starting from my media players, iPhone and TV can access the home media network hard drive. The NAS also integrates with web services like Facebook that helps me share my music and photo collection with my friends and family.
Comments about Iomega 2TB Home Media Network Hard Drive, Cloud Edition:
I love the way I could do a file transfer on the Home media network hard drive, one is to simply open the folder and drag and drop the files. Next is the use of QuickTransfer button on the network hard drive device. What I found most simple is to attach an external hard drive to the USB port on the network hard drive and hit the QuickTransfer button and the file transfer happens. Copy Jobs menu also is available to help you organize file transfer.

I believe it can ge a great product if Iomega issues an update that can fix the reoccurring issues.
Have loads of movies stored on this drive and can access them over the network on my PCs laptops and TVs via a media server running on a mac mini.
Sometimes the drive fails while transferring files to it via the mac mini and I cant browse it or anything and yes the loud clicking noise. I have to often reboot the drive from the software which takes forever or even have to go as far as manually powering it down.
Too often I have issues with it either dropping off the network or just not responding at all.

Poor vendor support. Lion changed the way it authenticates. iOmega have no plan to support this now, so beware...it doesn't work with Time Machine.
Comments about Iomega 2TB Home Media Network Hard Drive, Cloud Edition:
The Iomega home media network hard drive is a net compatible storage device that makes sharing data online simple with the exclusive Iomega personal cloud technology. This has drastically cut down on my cost as there is no subscription charges involved. Everything went fine until one day I realized that when the home media network hard drive was idle it stopped responding. I was worried and called up Iomega call center. They told me to download and updated software and the NAS device started to function as normal.
After this there were no issues with the home media hard drive. Till date there were no problems with the drive. The good thing about the NAS is that whenever there is a device malfunction an email notification is sent.

Good network drive but takes a little work to set up for all computers. I have MAC and PC and it works well with both, after a little trial and error. It is easy to manage once you get it going. There would be no problem with just one computer.

Comments about Iomega 2TB Home Media Network Hard Drive, Cloud Edition:
Had this for about 6 months and was ok until today. I was trying to copy files to the drive and about 1/4 of the way through received an error message (unfortunately I didn't pay attention to it to write it down) and afer restarting my computer I tried to resume transfering files. Now nothing the drive corrupted and lost all of the files I was trying to transfer to it on the drive itself and about 75% of what I had on the drive is gone now too. Totally unacceptable I will never buy iomega again.
That and prior to this event it transfers incredibly slow since you can only tranfer via wifi which I didn't realize at purchase.
Comments about Iomega 2TB Home Media Network Hard Drive, Cloud Edition:
The most affordable media network drive I found for my home was Iomega home media network hard drive with cloud edition. It is simple to use and makes a good home server. Using the Iomega personal cloud I am able to access my data remotely. Home users like me cannot find another network hard drive in this price range and that too with so many features. Though it supports a wide variety of features like internet file sharing, facebook integration, backup, remote access, BitTorrent downloads, cross platform flexibility and many more, this is not for advanced NAS users.
If you are looking for a more advanced NAS server with more storage space then there are other NAS servers available, do not expect this to perform advance NAS functions like iSCSI, etc.
Comments about Iomega 2TB Home Media Network Hard Drive, Cloud Edition:
I was always paranoid of storing my valuable information on a third party cloud. But I was left with no other option as part of my work I needed to share important files across the internet for various official purposes. Then one day I read about the Iomega cloud edition Home media network hard drive, it spoke about the personal cloud technology and how I can benefit from it. In a week's time the NAS drive decorated my office. Setting it up was a game and with help of the internet I set up my personal cloud as well. I sent invites to my associates and from then on my fears were allayed.
Now I confidently share files over the cloud. It is definitely a worthy product.
Comments about Iomega 2TB Home Media Network Hard Drive, Cloud Edition:
What I felt attractive about the Home Media Network is the printer shareability that was available on my network. The file transferring speed was also amazing. I can vouch that the device can be connected to any operating system, it works fine with Win XP and Mac. Torrent download was a prominent feature of the Home Media Network Hard drive. Sharing pictures on and uploading on Facebook is a game.
I encountered some difficulty while installing the device but with updated firmware all my issues were put to rest. Now I can confidently recommend the Home Media Network Hard Drive to my friends as I have firsthand experience on this device.

Comments about Iomega 2TB Home Media Network Hard Drive, Cloud Edition:
Home media network hard drive is the most fascinating device when it comes to social networking. Connecting to specified folders whether it is Facebook, YouTube or Flickr is extremely simple. Even away from home I stay connected with all my files as the internet connection enables this feature. You can use this device to invite friends to view your photos or videos stored on specific folders on the device. The built in iTunes server is truly impressive since I own an Apple TV which makes things lot easier for me.
Another worthwhile feature to mention is the BitTorrent downloader that makes my downloading experience issueless even while I switch off my computer.

Comments about Iomega 2TB Home Media Network Hard Drive, Cloud Edition:
Purchased drive for home network Time Machine Backup 8/3/2011. I am running 2 macs, one with Snow Leopard and one with Lion.
I first set up Snow Leopard 10.68 without a hitch. When I began to set up Lion I noticed some problems from the outset. The Omega Software crashes immediately following installation.
I have been working with 3 support agents from Iomega and a Product Specialist from Apple to find a work around, beginning with the installation of a firmware update and tweaking AFT authentication settings in terminal.
Each Iomega agent has tweaked the setting in an attempt to find a work around to an acknowledged incompatibility resulting from Lion's stronger security.
Up until yesterday my Mac using 10.68 had been working perfectly, backing up every hour. The last Iomega agent's settings caused it to crash, with it's backup no longer available.
