I use it to watch movies and it works fine. It isn't so great for web surfing- the remote is too cumbersome to use. I like it, so far no problems.

The Iomega ScreenPlay DX HD media player has brought the internet into my living room. Using the DX media player I am able to stream videos. The DX media player is definitely a great entertainment device that is a must have for all those who own high definition TV. What's the fun of owning a HD TV if you are not able to watch high definition content. Just stream HD content directly from your DX media player and watch it on your TV. The 1080 HD quality playback is mind blowing.
The ScreenPlay comes with DLNA certification that enables easy streaming of data irrespective of your location at home. Using the USB 2.0 port I connect to my external hard drive to access data.

I used this product to view my download video files from various internet sources. Things are great it can load the video files into the storage drive from any PC or laptop, and then watch back on the TV anytime. But the web search is not good, the mouse control is weird, some of the on-line video files can not be displayed or played like a PC.

I can now forget about the computer and watch movies in high definition on my brand new LCD TV using the Iomega ScreenPlay DX HD Media Player. The device is easy to setup and it was up and running in less than a minute when all the connections were in place. The instant power mode option is for impatient people like me.
The full QWERTY remote is convenient to punch especially while accessing the internet. Just type the URL using the remote and say good bye to typing with on-screen keyboard. The remote can be held with both hands as it is quite big unlike your other media player remotes. The high definition quality is amazing and has to be experienced to believe.

I primarily use this to store my music and downloaded movies. I have no interest in streaming Netflix and living in Canada, I cannot access Pandora. Tons of storage for blu-ray movies and my entire music collection from iTunes. Plays them all seamlessly without delay. Easy setup and configuration settings are easy to follow.

It comes with HDMI cable , usb cable and audio/video cables. Also a small usb stick wifi antenna. The instructions are on a disk and when you click on them it opens on a website. At first you need to get the required patches on it to get it to work right. I was blinking red blue on the on button and my computer recognized it half the time and the tv didnt show it. Once I got the computer to see it I tried loading up the patches from IOMEGA website . I found 3 patches I try to put on the laptop. The problem is when you click on the patch it says plug in screenplay and hit continue. So you plug the usb connetion in from the screeenplay and hit continue. But the update patch software tells you the screen play isnt connected when it is. So I couldnt push the 3 patches through on my lap. Also there are screenplay utility drivers you can load up on you laptop to recognize the screenplay. I tried the current model edition and the previous model edition (it states it works on the new one as well) . But neither cant the screenplay on your computer . Even though it comes up under my computer. So I turned it off plugged it into the TV and it came on (wait a few minutes) . I plugged the little wifi antenna and search through the setting menu. I set up the WIFI which was pretty straight forward. Then I found the update software section . It took 2 hours or so but then it worked fine. You do need to turn it off before you connect it to the tv or computer then turn it on so the receptive item recognizes it(also plug or unplug necessary wiring for the what your using it on , either usb or tv connectors). I loaded up pictures and movies on it and it works pretty well. The interface is pretty easy and the keyboard remote is also great. I checked out youtube and that worked well as too. Netflicks, pandora, flikr and some other web applications I didnt recognize was also on it. Overall it seems to recognize most of the formats Ive put on it. Im glad I got it.
