The HMX-Q10 HD Camcorder (Blue) from Samsung is a compact camcorder that can record 1080i and 720p HD video. It uses SD/SDHC memory cards for video storage, making it easy to load your home movies to your computer. If that wasn't enough, the camera can also capture 4.9MP still images using its BSI CMOS sensor. The camera's Schneider-Kreuznach Varioplan-HD lens features a 10x optical zoom range and a fast aperture of f/1.8 for excellent low-light performance.
Designed for ambidextrous usage, the camcorder features Samsung's unique and innovative Switch Grip system. A G-magnetic sensor inside the camera recognizes whether you are using your left or right hand to hold the camera and adjusts the LCD display so that you can better control recording settings.
The camera's 2.7" LCD allows you to frame your video with ease. It features an intuitive touch screen interface for control. Samsung's Easy Operation and Smart Access user interface provides just that: it is designed to make the camera easy enough for almost anyone to use.

I've only used the camera a few times, so this review might not really do justice, but as of right now it works great! It is very easy to use and extremely small. I love the size and the quality of the video. Ive had fun flipping the screen around and shooting myself with friends. I am only worried about low light filming, but as i read i other reviews that is not what this camera is meant for. I cant wait to see the quality of the video once it is on my computer and i start editing stuff.

I recently bought this little camcorder, on sale, despite having other, more capable, 'corders. But I wanted a very small, easy to use, pocketable camera that I could use for "video snapshots." So far this tiny little camera is filling the bill. With a 18Gb SD card it will record almost 9 hours of video at its lowest resolution.
The lens, in spite of the Schneider pedigree, is only adequate. Stills from it are really pretty bad and I have about decided that I will never use that feature, as they would be useless for anything but tiny web snaps. It works much better for video but won't win too many prizes there either.
The hand-strap is positioned so that it is almost impossible to operate the record button if you like to hold the camera below eye level. I solved that problem by attaching the camera to the tiny (and inexpensive) Carson "three-leaf" folding tabletop tripod. When folded up it makes a dandy hand grip.
I've just had a strange problem with the camera: it refused to charge. I managed to solve the dilemma by removing and then reinserting the battery. Seems to have done the trick but I still don't know what the problem was. Weird.
Overall, the camera feels a bit on the flimsy side. "Light and plasticky." I am hoping that it is going to hold up.
While I may sound a bit negative in this review I am mostly pleased with the little thing. Working with memory media allows us to record all sorts of nonsense that we mightn't attempt if we were paying for film. This little camera seems like a good accomplice, and who doesn't love a new gadget!

Comments about Samsung HMX-Q10 HD Camcorder (Blue):
I bought this camera to record my son's wrestling meets. It is small, lightweight, easy to use, and surprisingly well built. It handles the low light of some of the gyms with no problems and has an excellent zoom. The initial focus acquisition is a little slow, as is the initializing sequence(power up). I'd definitely recommend, if you want a camera that isn't overly feature ridden, but performs well.

Easy to understand operation, although some icons are very small and the reference book required on a first time basis. All other aspects good to excellent. Only draw back is that it doesn't have remote control capabilities.

Needed a simple camera for my wife to replace her unreliable Flip mino.
Should be fine for her needs in full auto mode.
Decent price.

Seems a little glitchy when shifting from right to left handed. It gets stuck in between positions. Some other reviews claim it has trouble focusing in low light but I havent noticed.
