X-Rite i1Photo Pro Professional Color Management for Photographers is a complete color calibration and profiling hardware & software system that lets you quickly and easily create custom profiles for cameras, monitors, RGB printers, and digital projectors. Maintain accurate colors throughout your digital imaging process, from capture to output, to achieve consistent results with neutral grays, natural skin tones, and high-quality highlight and shadow details.
Addressing the capture end is a camera calibration system based on the ColorChecker Classic mini target (with 24 colors patches that include six grayscale squares) and ColorChecker Passport Camera Calibration software. Shooting the target with either one camera or multiple cameras will enable you to build custom camera profiles quickly and easily for Adobe's Lightroom, Photoshop, Photoshop Elements, Camera Raw (ACR), and Bridge programs. These profiles will work well even in unusual conditions or with artificial light sources.
To keep your displays and printers in line with the rest of your color workflow, the industry-standard i1Pro spectrophotometer device achieves fast, accurate color measurements of for both monitors and printed material. You can capture spot colors from any surface. Capture both flash and ambient light so you can optimize your environmental conditions for performing color-critical work. The i1Pro feeds on USB power for convenient operation.
The Windows- and Mac-friendly i1Profiler software, based on the best features of its predecessors i1Match, ProfileMaker, and MonacoPROFILER, includes both a wizard for easy setup and an "advanced" mode that grants you complete control of the user-driven interface to create precise, high-quality custom color profiles for your monitors, printers, and projectors.
The software's i1Prism engine, which leverages a unique iterative profiling technology, tightly dials into the user's specific printer and paper combination so professional photographers can experience the highest quality color results. i1Profiler lets you save and reuse assets and settings – and share them with others – with the ease of drag-and-drop operation. Palette information and other color data is shared using X-Rite's Color Exchange Format.
For quality assurance, i1Profiler includes visual and measurement-based validation and verification functions. Also included with i1Photo Pro is the ColorChecker proof target that's precut for direct viewing against a printed target. The 24-patch target provides immediate visual verification of profile output results.
The bundled Pantone Color Manager software dynamically keeps all digital Pantone color libraries up to date and ready to use in Adobe and Quark applications. i1Profiler software is tightly integrated with Pantone Color Manager to give you seamless access to all Pantone colors, for precise matching of spot colors and accurate reproduction of same. Multiple color-space selections are available. The Pantone Color Management software can be used to ensure the faithful reproduction of brand-specific color for corporate photography projects.

Comments about X-Rite i1Photo Pro Professional Color Management for Photographers:
I use the X-Rite i1Photo Pro to calibrate my NEC SpectraView Reference 2690 monitor and to make color and advanced black and white (ABW) profiles for my Epson Stylus Pro 3880 printer on Hanemuehle fine art papers. I tested the difference of the standard ICC profiles and my ICC ABW profiles using the ABW print modus for all of the Hanemuehle fine art papers. Particularly for glossy paper the difference is tremendous!!! The system is easy to use and of excellent quality.

I planed to buy such device for a while.I read a lot of reviews & reports about color management. But when I find i1,a spectrophotometer not a spectrocolorimeter with a very good price(compare to professional spectrophotometer).I decided to buy one. This tool not only calibrate monitor, camera and printer but also could measure the color temperature,CRI and Spectral power distribution of light. It works very well!

Comments about X-Rite i1Photo Pro Professional Color Management for Photographers:
I am mainly doing bird photography. Since 2005 colour management has become a major issue for me. Initially monitor profiling with an appropriate instrument helped considerably. With time, and changes to Photoshop, I have found difficulties on occasion with the final step to printout. I have used some other equipment with reasonable results. Ultimately I decided to go with the best I could get, and this is it. It works well with Eizo ColorNavigator 6 for monitor profiling. It needs to be used carefully for print profiling with respect to the small colour patches generated in the targets, as far as handling it on the profiling tablet provided is concerned. This is learned fairly quickly with a little experience. The print profiles produced, my preference being for the advanced mode, are very accurate both for colour and darkness/lightness. There is flexibility with the number of patches you can choose to use to do this. I have the non UV-cut version and that doesn't seem to be a problem. At the cost and the length of time over which this product has been in development one would expect it to be really good and accurate and it is. I am now quite confident that it works so well that I can forget about this previously major problem for me. Printer colour management of course must be turned off and you must not print the targets from Photoshop CS5. The targets can be printed from the i1 Profiler Software directly. If necessary you can print small test prints of photos to check that all is OK with the generated profiles, and for further reassurance in the Print Dialog Box in CS5 tick Match Print Colours, as well as looking at Print Preview (I know that this step does not show accurate coloring, but it will show contamination if it is there). Looking at a soft proof in CS5 to see that all is OK, and again that there is no extraneous colour contamination, is also an option.

I used the X-Rite i1Photo Pro to ensure color consistency across my entire digital photo workflow.
On same day that I received it, I was able to setup color profile for my cameras (Canon 5D, Leica M9-P), my two monitors (Eizo CG243W, Apple Display 23") and my printer (Epson Stylus Pro 3800). The UI and wizards are pretty well done and straight forward.
The results came out great.
IMO, this could have a lower price point, which is why I won't give it 5 stars.

X-Rite i1 is a professional tool, it makes sense for profiling high end devices in a professional color managed environment. It requires also some trials to take the best of its capabilities. Color and light theoretical notions are necessary to understand the many options and effects got from profiles.

Comments about X-Rite i1Photo Pro Professional Color Management for Photographers:
Professional system to calibrate monitor and printer. Monitor calibration was the easiest I have ever done, set brightness at recommended 120, but on next pass will change to 110 or lower for better view of shadow details. My choice not a reflection on x-rite.
Calibrated my Canon iPF6300 printer with no problems on Harman by Hahnemuhle Gloss Baryta paper at 2000 colors on each pass. Prints out excellently in both color and black and white.
If I was calibrating a number of papers it would be very worth while to have the i1iO automated chart reading device as I found the manual method of scanning the lines to be error prone, my error, not x-rite. It was easy enough for my finger to slip off the button and have to rescan the line, or to be too fast and have to rescan the line. Never made it through even one page without having to rescan one line. The program was effortless as it readily let me know when I made a mistake with a double beep and a single beep when the line was done correctly.
Over all this is an excellent well thought out professional program that is the easiest one I have ever used.

This does it all with realitve ease. This is a professional system and is much simlper to use than others out there. It comes with a funky carying case but does hold the whole system together well. I found that the software is easy to use. Calibrations for paper on my Epson 9900 are great so far.
