The Pioneer DV-2012-K Multi Region System DVD Player is a compact, stylishly designed disc player that is both NTSC and PAL compatible with universal voltage and packs in some surprising features.
It's small footprint and glossy black finish means it will blend well with any entertainment space, but you'll be equally impressed with its array of capabilities. With support for DVD, DVD-R/W, DVD+R/W, Video CD and Super Video CD, it can play back the movies in your collection with no problem. It also supports CD, CD-R/W, MP3 and WMA for your music collection with built-in upscaling of compressed music files for CD-quality playback. It also displays JPEG photo files, so you can see your pictures displayed on your TV screen.
This premium disc player also supports high resolution surround formats Dolby Digital and DTS so you can get high quality audio to accompany your favorite films and get the full experience. With choices of various listening modes, you can tailor the sound to the music genre you are listening to.
The DV-2012-K features karaoke capabilities as well, with an integrated 3.5mm input for a microphone. You can also record songs from CDs to USB storage devices, which is then stored in MP3 format with the choice of bit rate being 128/192/320 kbps. Using the convenient front-panel USB port, you can play back these music files as well as JPEG files and DivX videos from a camcorder without reaching around to the back of the unit.

- CD Recording to USB Devices
- With the DV-2012K, you can record songs directly from CDs to USB devices. The data is stored in the MP3 format with your choice of bit rate from 128/192/320 kbps. You can copy the whole album or select tracks.
- Karaoke Function
- With a 3.5mm input jack for a microphone, this player can support karaoke, providing even more entertainment flexibility. In addition to its audio and video capabilities, it can keep you and your friends entertained for hours.
- CD-Quality Sound
- The Sound Retriever feature improves compressed audio quality to the level of CD sound in three steps (high/low/off). It does this by creating new signals to restore the minor details left out during the compression process. This feature is effective for both analog and digital output, and upgrades MP3/WMA sound so that it is closer to the quality of the original master.
- USB Input
- Using the convenient front-panel USB input, you can listen to two-channel audio and enjoy DivX video and JPEG picture files.
- Built-In Multi-Channel Decoders
- The DV-2012K has built-in processors to handle the multi-channel decoders for Dolby Digital and DTS surround sound so you can create the full entertainment experience.
- DivX Playback
- DivX is video compression software that enables high-quality video to be compressed into very small files, which are then downloaded onto CD-R or CD-RW discs and played back with very little loss of quality. The DV-2012K is fully capable of playing back DivX video files.
- Multi-Format Disc Player
- The DV-2012K plays DVD Audio/Video, DVD-R/W, DVD-R DL, DVD+R/W, VCD, SVCD, CD, CD-R/W, WMA, MP3, and JPEG so you can enjoy your whole collection of movies, music and even photo files.
- Multiple AV Outputs
- This player features a component video output for high-resolution, low-distortion video playback, and coaxial digital audio output for high-quality audio playback.

- The unit features several different listening modes, so you can customize your sound around what kind of music you are listening to.

I bought this DVD player for about only two weeks. I tried all the Asian version DVDs I have and this player could read all of them as advertised. The quality is also very good. The only disadvantage is it does not have HDMI connection and it does not play Blue Ray discs. But to me component connection is almost comparable. As a bonus, it has Karaoke function. Considering its low price, it is really a good deal. I am very satisfied with this purchase.

Picture quality is limited by only AV and Component output. Does not have HDMI output. The power plug is European but it has the transition to US plug. Otherwise works great for European DVDs and other regions.

I use this product for my daughters videos. She tends to like shows that are from out of region like the upside down show. Before purchasing this player she was unable to watch the show. The great things about it is the ability to play any region and both NTSC and PAL movies. I cant find a con about it so far only been in use 2 weeks.
