I own a GoPro, Contour, and a Drift HD170 Stealth. And I choose to use the Drift 98% of the time. The built in LCD and Remote are clutch. The Night Mode makes the Drift the only choice in a dim or flat light environment. The aerodynamic form factor works best in most mounting scenarios, and it feels comfortable in hand when using it as a follow-chase cam. I'd also suggest this as a great second camera for Pros to have in their bag of tricks. Because you can always use a close up pick up shot and this camera can be put in places no other camera can.

As a semi pro videographer working in the motosports industry, I've tested most POV cams over the years.. I ordered the stealth drift a few weeks ago and to be honest, I'm not impressed with it.. here goes:1. The build quality is poor and very tacky, not confident about mounting this in at-risk locations around motorbikes. The battery hatch is poorly designed and pops open with little movement.2. the image suffers from wavy/choppy effect at both 1080P and 720P. I contacted their customer care and they repeatedly told me that this issue is normal! even with panavise mounts, the issue is not resolved.. Whichsuggests that there is a critical issue with their sensor/processor and not my mounting setup.3. The remote control has worked 3 times in my 2 weeks of use..Again, i contacted customer care and they told me I am not using it correctly. Totally insulted by their response each time I have contacted them.. 4. Battery economy is poor, and the extra batteries are overpriced. I expect the charge economy will dwindle after 30+ charges.. 5. The HD 170 color mapping is way off, I've seen many similar complaints on forums but nothing has been done about it via way of firmware upgrades.. 6. All their accessories are over priced in comparison to real manufacturers in the POV category. A big issue when the unit is fragile and replacement parts are costly and customer care un-supportive! In summary, if you are working in a prosumer/professional capacity, this is not the POV product for you.. If you need to buy a toy that shoots ok video, then go for it.. Totally unimpressed with the support given by Drift customer care, this alone should deter people from buying drift products..

Comments about Drift HD170 Stealth Action Camera:
Excellent helmet camera and video all in one package. The only camera and video with a push of the button remote control which can be mounted onto a bikes handle bar, wrist or other location. The video/camera comes with several mounting option brackets which can be easily removed and relocated as needed. Excellent extra wide range pictures and video quality at its finest.

GoPro has nothing on this camera. It has a nice little screen to view to set up your shots. And the remote control is the icing on the cake. Great picture, great price.

I use suction-cup mount on tank of bike. no problems, although i attach a cord, just in case. video is great , nice wide angle . fish-eye effect is something you have to put-up with; i guess. will have to experiment with different positions on m/bike . pretty happy overall .

Most of the items are getting discontinued. If using for motorcycle there is a lot of wind noise unless you buy the microphone. That's where there's a problem, its discontinued same with the rear silicone cover.

I am using this camera on my airplane to take videos when flying. The main reason I chose this over others is due to the remote control on/off ability from inside the airplane, the LCD and the rotating lens to accomodate for mounting angles.

I mount the HD170 on the jury strut of my personal hobby airplane and then go into interesting places with it. The remote control is invaluable for this application. I wish I could turn the entire unit of and on and zoom with the remote. I also wish for zoom capability in 1080 resolution.

Comments about Drift HD170 Stealth Action Camera:
I bought the camera to mount on my airplane for flying videos and stills. My test videos have a wave effect that I'm trying to understand and eliminate, but the video quality is very good, both in 720 and 1080 modes. The remote is great and allows me to start and stop taping from inside the plane or snap stills if the camera is set to still photo mode. Hopefully I'll be able to get rid of the wave effect in the videos... I'll be totally happy with the camera if I am successful.

Comments about Drift HD170 Stealth Action Camera:
This device has everything I want for taking flying videos except for an optical zoom. It is simple to use, the videos that come out of it are top quality, it has a viewing scrre built in to it, and the wireless remote is really handy since I mount the camera near my wing tip. The negitive is that it doesn't even have a digital zoom at 1080.

Can´t be more easy to use.
The best with this cam is full HD, the small LCD screen, wireless remote, rotable lens, water resistant.
The night mode is really great too.
One thing I´m not happy about, there is no choice to auto loop the recording when memory card is full.

Use on my mountain bike, in the car, while climbing and on the boat.
Picture quality is great is 1080. Sacrifice a liitle on picture quality in 720the but better features. Eg slow motion for you tube. Water resistant during muddy, wet rides. No problems noted. Waterproof case works to 6'the so far with no problems so far.
Slight jelly effect on bike. Not as noticeable in car or on boat.
long life nattery is a must. Got 3+ hrs on first charge. Real nice. Would recommend this product for sure. Can't beat the price. Would rate 5 star if the camera had image stabilization.

Well its a good idea to buy this camera if you are planing to shoot action sports and extreme situations, I'm a professional videographer and i was looking for a camera that was adjustable for the situations that you can't shoot with a regular camcorder so in that sense its a good option...the cons would be that i haven't figured out how to get DV quality from this camera even taping in HD, i was on the impression that it recorded in SD & HD but so far i get low res video that resembles video from a cel phone (no 29 fps) maybe I'm missing a step in the configuration, still waiting for the guys from Drift to tell me whats missing.

I bought this particular camera with the view of using it to record my motorcycle trips. I love the fact that you can mount it almost anywhere and then adjust the lens angle to suit your mounting spot. A very handy feature is the remote control, so even if the camera is mounted way out of view, a simple press on the remote starts recording.
Not so great is the build quality. the retaining clip for the extended battery has already broken after just one use.

not so good in low light at least indoors, havent tried outside in low light.also need to make sure there in no vibration as it sends waves thru image, recomend buying extra velcro straps as you only get 1 and will need for better stabilization. Get external mic as the onboard mic is not so good.but I add music to videos so wasnt big deal to me.

Bought this camera to take snowmobiling to capture some great times. I am totally amazed with the picture quality, sound, and the battery life. I would recommend this camera highly. A friend of mine had another brand that was much larger and was more obvious. Go with this one.. mount it anywhere.
Cheers.. Happy riding..

Comments about Drift HD170 Stealth Action Camera:
When I was a teenager I bought a helmet before I bought a motorbike, well with the HD170 I had bought the helmet fitting before I had bought the camera.
I used the helmet fitting for a "Poseidon" helmet cam to use while skiing in Utah. Not happy with the Poseidon I searched the web for a better alternative. Came across the Stealth at closeout prices and was impressed with what it had to offer, mainly in the remote functions, the lens rotation, viewing window, mounting compatibility and menu functions. As I had ordered this camera at the end of my stay in USA, I didn't get to use it in the snow before flying back to Sydney (OZ).
Upon return I tested it around my yard and can't wait to get it onto my m/bike helmet and ski helmet (but will have to wait 5 months for that!).
In all I am very happy with my purchase and in hindsight would have paid full bucks for it.

Camera was very easy to use and set up. Used the goggle strap to attach for a recent snowboarding trip. The remote was pretty easy to use. The quality of the video was great even when transitioning from shadows to sun. Can't wait to try it out in the car on track days.
