Installation: The card is pretty simple to install - just make sure to download the most updated driver from the ASUS support site - drivers provided in the box didn't work for me.
Pros: Most importantly it has a connector for the front pannel headphones (supports both AC97 and HD Audio). The headphone amp can easily drive professional headhones - it has 3 headphone modes: 1) less than 32ohms; 2)32-64ohms; 3) more than 64ohms. Sound is pretty good if you don't turn on any of the DSP/Effects/Equalizer nonsence.
Cons: I don't like switching from the Headphones to Speakers through the ASUS app.

I could not get it to run on Linux with the ALSA driver. This is not ASUS's fault, since they make no Linux compatibility claim.
Works perfectly on Windows 7. The driver software was somewhat confusing. I wound up letting Windows search the CD. In Sound>Recording, Aux and Stereo Mix show "Currently Unavailable". I am able to record "what I hear" with Audacity, a major requirement for me.
I probably would not pay the regular price for this piece. If you need to have a new card for testing your PC or connected equipment, and then be left with a decent card, this is the one--on sale.

I recently rebuilt an older computer and I needed a new sound card. I heard alot of good things about the Asus Xonar DG Sound Card so I went to...where else! B&H Photo. The card is as advertised and B&H continues its exemplary service. A++

Comments about ASUS Xonar DG Sound Card:
Installed in an older computer that has a fresh Windows 7 install, and the old audio hardware is not compatible with the new OS. Asus software is necessary for Windows 7 intallation; Windows 7 does not have a built-in driver. It appears that to mute or unmute, the software must be opened; there is no right-click solution as there is with hardware recognized by Windows.

Not only is this an inexpensive sound card that dramatically improves onboard sound, the quick and good service from BH is better than the major competitors.

Love this sound card excellent for the budget minded and simple gaming / movies. I'd rather get a creative labs Titanium or Titanium HD if I did more First Person Shooter style games as they're more feature rich, but this card is excellent!

A great card for the money. I installed drivers and sound was real low on the net. Next day the sound was fine. Need to reboot computer after driver install.

Comments about ASUS Xonar DG Sound Card:
The mother board sound went out on my computer so I needed a sound card. The Xonar DG isa great product. It seems to work well, installation was just OK. For some reason installation failed the first time. Had to uninstall and try again. It worked the second time.
The Analog output has several choices and it kept defaulting to FP headphones which was frustrating since I have 2 speakers. It was not obvious at all how to get the Xonar DG to default to 2 speakers but alas, now it does and I have no clue as to why but glad that it is. Over all nice board and control panels and options
