I am a avid, recreational photographer. I'm an outdoor adventurist and travel a lot. I take pics of wildlife and scenery mostly. This is about the 5th Lumix I've owned. When they stop working properly, I upgrade. This is by far the nicest one. It is quick to focus and respond, which was a problem with the last ones. I was able to zoom in and take pics of a bird in flight, which was very impressive for a pocket camera. I plan on taking this camera with me on most of my major trips, rather than lugging around my bulky heavy SLR.

Comments about Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS10 Digital Camera (Red):
Bought this primary for using in underwater housing for scuba. Already have the Panasonic FZ100, which has same sensor chip and i am more than pleased with the picture quality. Returned a Canon SX210, because it's design was severely lacking. The need for continuous with focus at 5fps is a must, and having histogram in live view also. When out of the UW case, the 16x and compact design is great for a pocket use on a beach or traveling.
Body is metal and very solid, and controls all seem very substantial. Touch screen is up in the air right now, but I may like it's features with use. Most of the time, I shoot A mode and having discrete movie button for HD is valued, especially when diving.
Third party batteries work w/o limitations.
Only negative so far is that there is no raw, which is not as good for color balance as the underwater mode. Quality of the UW case is marginal compared to Ikelite version.

This is an amazing camera. Matches - at times outperforms - my Canon 450D Rebel and takes better quality video than my third generation Flip. Amazing.

I have been a fan of the Lumix point-and-shoots for 6 years now. Panasonic customer service has only let me down once. Otherwise, a great camera. I've purchased 6 or 7 since 2006.

Comments about Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS10 Digital Camera (Red):
The display is very clear, whether you look at your last pictures or the menu. The menu items are easy to access, easy to understand (even for someone like me who doesn`t know much about photography. One of the main reasons I had put this camera on my wish list (my husband gave it to me) was the touch screen, but I hesitated a lot. So far, I did not use it much because the regular menu is so easy to use, but it seems to be working pretty well too. The camera is also lightweight, we I appreciate, but one other characteristic I am really happy with is that all the buttons work wonderfully: on my previous camera, any button had to be pushed hard on to function. By the time I had pushed the button, my photo subject (often a bird or animal) was already gone. My Lumix almost does what I want in a fraction of a second. In addition, I greatly appreciate the battery: it last a lot longer that the two AA driving my previoius camera. All in all, even if I haven`t used all its functions yet, I am simply delighted with my Lumix.

This is my second ZS10 - Unfortunately the first got run over! Great camera - excellent zoom (16X) and offers over 20X optical with intelligent zoom (I suspect smaller sensor area for this) The results have been great with good stability and fantastic daylight shots. Indoors shooting is good as well - Flash is not huge but the handling of light levels with flash off is excellent. I have taken well over 8,000 pictures with both cameras and results have been excellent. There are many options of which I have used several -- Movies are excellent with good capture, high resolution and good sound. I have not tried the 3D. Favorite function is the hand-held night shot where it integrates several shots and usually achieves an excellent properly exposed stable image. Abosolutely great where flash cannot handle it. The integrated GPS is wonderful! - When in Rome & Barcelona It helped us identify the places where we traveled with great detail. However, someplaces like CHINA GPS gets disabled according to the local regulations.
Would I buy it again -- absolutely! (and I did) -- My other cameras are all Canons that have been excellent - but this camera is a better all around camera with its compact size, great zoom, and 14 megapixel sensor. -- One thing if you are a heavy user -- Get extra batteries. It is awful to be stuck with no more battery when you are on holiday & cannot recharge for another 4 hours.

Comments about Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS10 Digital Camera (Red):
I bought this camera for personal use for its ability to zoom and the wide view. I had a previous model of this camera that I took to Hawaii and my pictures were great. I felt that the picture quality was better than the other 3 cameras that others had on the trip. My camera was stolen and I replaced it with another brand, but since my son took that one away to college with him, I decided that I liked my first Lumix DMC so much that I purechased the newer model.
I have read some reviews that people have written about the video on this camera but we took one, without realizing it, of a fire dance with the previous model. There was only low lighting from the tiki tourches and the video was clear and amazing.
I do not expect this camera to do what an expensive camers does. For the price and the features that this camera offers I am very pleased with my purchase. I love the fact that it is so easy to use yet it has other features that you can use if you want to be more that just an amature photographer. Since I have a new grand baby in the house I am thrilled with the fact that you can put the date of birth in and you always know how old the child is when the picture was taken. I wish that this feature had been around when my children were growing up on an affordable camera.
I guess if you want to take professional pictures then you probably need to invest in more expensive camera. I was looking for a great all around camera that is small enough and light enough to carry with me and still take quality pictures. There is more than enough pixels for quality pictures and I think the zoom and wide angle are an added plus. I took a picture through the windshild of a vehicle traveling at 70 miles an hour. We could not figure out what we were looking at. I used the zoom and when I zoomed in after I took the picture, found that it was a blimp and you could actually read U.S. Navy on the side of it. What more could you ask for?

Great features on this camera. Really like the quality of the images taken. The GPS stays on a bit longer even after you turn the camera off. Doesn't seem to be affecting the battery life too much. The zoom capabilities, 14.1 MegaPixels, GPS, 3D images and 1080p video options and all this at an affordable price.

I use this from a semi-professional perspective in that I have a pretty good idea what I want out of the photograph before I press the button. But not always, and that makes my needs even more precise. The wide angle lens, for a pocket camera, is a great benefit. The vibration reduction is smooth and transparent, the feel is sturdy and the shutter release time is the fastest I've seen in a camera like this. This is a fine machine and a great tool.

I use this camera for daily photos and 1080p videos at work. I've used this for professional print projects and the Web. I've used lots of similar products but find the Panasonics have shorter lag time and are more intuitive to use.

This is a great little camera that shoots HD video as well. Nice device to have to shove in your pocket / bag / purse. Take it out, power it on, compose and shoot.
PHOTOS - Quality is spectacular. GPS tagging is helpful. Focusing is quick and accurate...most of the time. Using the touchscreen is kind of cool but can be kind of annoying as well.
VIDEO - Quality is great...but needs a good amount of light or else you get a lot of noise / grain in low light situations. It shoots in Full HD (meaning 1080p) instead of 720p (HD Lite) like previous generations of this camera did....as well as some other point and shoot camera manufacturers.
All in all....a great little versatile photo/video camera.

I had a Lumix ZS3 that was stolen and I liked it so well that I decided to replace it like in kind. Wow, I was blown over by the new features that Panasonic has added, it is like a different camera. I have taken about 75 frames, using the different features and I am delighted with the results. This camera will fit the needs of a person just starting out or a professional.

The Touch screen is a nice addition along with GPS. Just got the camerea to replace a DMC-ZS3 that has bad dust spots on the lens (i carry in my pocket when on vaction, so that mostly my fault). This is 3rd Lumix and we hardly use our Canon 60d and 3000 dollars worth of lens because this is just so easy.
