You'll never have to leave Panasonic's Lumix DMC-TS3 Digital Camera (Red) behind for fear you'll break it--it's built to survive a drop of 6.6' (2 m), it's waterproof to 40' (12 m), dustproof, and freezeproof to 14°F (-10°C)--as close to indestructible as a compact digital camera gets. And the TS3 is your best travel companion: it has built-in GPS that geo-tags your pictures with the Country/Region/Town where they were taken, as well as a compass, an altimeter, a barometer, and a world clock that will automatically set itself to local time!
But it's what's inside the TS3 that makes it worth saving: 12.1MP of resolution, a 4.6x Leica wide-angle 28-128mm (35mm equivalent) lens, full 1920 x 1080 HD video, and a bright 2.7" LCD monitor with 230K-dot resolution. Sonic AF gives you very fast autofocus, and the shutter lag is one of the shortest among compact digital cameras. It has Power O.I.S. image stabilization plus a Motion Deblur function, so you never have to look at another blurry photo. Face Detection and Recognition modes give you great photos of people by optimizing exposure and focus for faces, and Intelligent Resolution guarantees image quality even using high ISO sensitivity (up to 6400).
8 color modes help you tweak pictures creatively and a variety of Scene modes (for photos and movies) maximize every image for you. You can share any picture or movie you shoot by uploading to sites such as Facebook or YouTube, using the included easy-to-use Lumix Image Uploader.

I am a professional Kayaker and have moved on to my 3rd waterproof camera in 4 years. This camera has taken excellent pictures. The two most important thing for me is 1) easy controls and easy to hit with paddle gloves and 2)fast start up and shoot to catch wildlife such as an unexpected whale surface.
This camera rates great for these features.
NOTE: the battery life. If gps is on it is poor, other wise it is OK.

As a biologist for a state agency in NC, my job entails many long, arduous days in the field, in both terrestrial and aquatic situations. My previous field camera was a Canon D10 (which was stolen in January of this year), so I hold point-and-shoot cameras to a VERY high standard. After careful searching of consumer reviews on ruggedized cameras, I was led to this camera as a replacement. All reviews said it was a tough, durable, waterproof beast of a camera, with many options to spare! However, the first day snorkeling in the field (depths between 2' and 6.5') apparently led to a failure in the waterproof capabilities on this camera. Water invaded the battery compartment, as well as the memory card slot. Immediately, the viewfinder took on a pinkish hue, and the lens fogged on the inside. I took no more than 20 pictures, and now have to send this piece of equipment back. Further gripes with this model include: no manual focus, softness in the edges of the pictures, and inability to change the layout for the GPS points (degrees, minutes, seconds are fairly useless these days; decimal degrees would have been much better!). I hope that this was just a faulty camera, and that others aren't experiencing this problem, but I do want people to know.

This camera is awesome! It has makes amazing photos and is very user-friendly. It has a great feature, that when scrolling through the menu, it actually will tell you what each setting does. For instance, if you stop on the "starry night"setting, it will tell you exactly what that setting is and does. I have never seen another point and shoot that does that! And the fact that it is waterproof AND shockproof is a great feature, as well.

I bought this camera for a recent trip to Hawaii. We took it out snorkeling with us every day and it took awesome pictures. Above the water, it also performed well. I am a die hard Sony fan for all my cameras (1 DSLR, 3 point and click).
The only negative, or improvement that I would like to have would be for a button lock button. When you are underwater, the opportunity to accidently push a button is high. I would check a picture and found that I was zoomed all the way in, or the flash was selected. If there was a way to lock the buttons that would be convenient. Not worth taking a star for as I don't know of any cameras with this option.

The camera failed on the second day of use. Panasonic took about a month to replace it, but they did so free of charge. When it was working it took some very nice images, but I lost about 3 days of snorkeling pics due to the malfunction.
Frankly, I was disappointed. I have come to expect better from Panasonic. For nearly 300 dollars, I need a camera that lasts longer than an hour before it malfunctions and fails.

For capturing memories on the go, this is one very durable, high-quality camera. On the beach, near the water, in the water, or even underwater, this camera takes great shots...even in low light. And what other camera can you get with a Leica lens for this price? (Answer: none). Compact and easy to use for beginners, but packed with features that even a professional will appreciate.

I have not used this camera underwater yet but I did buy it for a snorkeling trip to Hawaii. I have a friend who has the same camera and have seen his pictures and they sold me on it. He also dropped the camera from about shoulder height and it worked perfectly. That sold me! The set up for it is really easy and intuitive. B&H has great service- one happy buyer here.

I got this camera because I have two very active dogs and I wanted to take action shots. I'm still learning all that it can do with it but I am enjoying this camera so much - the auto intelligent mode is great but it also comes with preset scenes for lighting, etc. I am having fun on normal mode and adjusting my settings manually. Haven't gotten it wet yet or dropped it but I bought this camera on other reviews with people who did just that and the camera still worked no problem afterward. And the price is right for what I want to do with it. So far I've taken some pretty good pics that I will be printing and framing.

The product is fully packed with cool features and very easy to use.
BUT, don't expect more then average image quality.
Very comfortable and easy to use. Very fast for a compact camera (almost no lag of delays at all).

This is a great unit to take fishing as it can get wet and a little banged up and still works well.
Great underwater photos is a big plus as well.

This little camera is a pretty great go everywhere camera. First of all the image quality is excellent for a point and shoot. The video quality is excellent (avchd) and it cuts together seamlessly with professional camera footage for web delivery. The compact size fits in any pocket. It's durability allows me to take it anywhere, including the pool with my daughter. I can't wait to get it out on the ski slopes this winter! The battery lasts really long! I have used it pretty constantly for a month and only needed to charge the battery once.

I hike a lot, and I brought this camera to use when the weather is a bit to adverse to bring my dSLR out. So far it's proven to be pretty useful not only other those circumstances, but as a daily P&S as well. Of course, photo quality isn't up to par of a dSLR, but it's still pretty good. Low light performance could be a little bit better, but everything else has meet my expectations.

Tough little camera that frees me from the worry of damaging my DSLR in questionable conditions. Was able to use when my DSLR lens fogged up in very high humidity.Decent images and small emough to take with me. Shutter speed was fast emough for the fish. However, I wasn't.
