But it's what's inside the TS3 that makes it worth saving: 12.1MP of resolution, a 4.6x Leica wide-angle 28-128mm (35mm equivalent) lens, full 1920 x 1080 HD video, and a bright 2.7" LCD monitor with 230K-dot resolution. Sonic AF gives you very fast autofocus, and the shutter lag is one of the shortest among compact digital cameras. It has Power O.I.S. image stabilization plus a Motion Deblur function, so you never have to look at another blurry photo. Face Detection and Recognition modes give you great photos of people by optimizing exposure and focus for faces, and Intelligent Resolution guarantees image quality even using high ISO sensitivity (up to 6400).

- Waterproof
- With waterproof performance to a depth of 12m equivalent to the "IPX8" and "IP6X" standard, the DMC-TS3 supports active shooting on a beach, underwater or in a pool. If the camera gets dirty, soil and dust can be washed off by using water.
- Shockproof
- The DMC-TS3 is dropproof from a height up to 2m in accordance with the "MIL-STD 810F Method 516.5-Shock" test standard. It lets you shoot actively while moving around with the camera in one hand.
- Dustproof
- The DMC-TS3 is dustproof equivalent to the "IPX8" and "IP6X" standard. While hiking or playing sports, fine dust particles can enter through gaps in the camera body and cause malfunction. The DMC-TS3 can be used in these activities without problems.

The camera judges the appropriate shutter speed to suppress motion blur according to the subject's movement. - Intelligent ISO Control - Motion Detection
- The Intelligent ISO Control function detects subject movement and automatically adjusts the ISO setting and shutter speed to best suit the movement and light conditions. When it detects subject motion, it automatically raises the ISO setting and increases the shutter speed to prevent motion blur. On the other hand, when the subject is still and no movement is detected, it takes beautifully natural photos with a low ISO setting.
- Intelligent Exposure - Light Detection
- The Intelligent Exposure instantly analyzes the framed image and adjusts the brightness in areas that are too dark due to dim lighting, backlighting or use of the flash. Adjusting the brightness of dark areas, this produces natural images that are close to the way they actually look to the human eye. When there is strong backlighting, the background appears nice and bright, but the subject is dark. This function detects backlight condition and compensates it automatically.
- Face Detection AF/AE with Face Recognition
- The DMC-TS3 features Face Recognition, a function that "remembers" faces. The conventional face detection system captures a face with focus and appropriate exposure but sometimes it falls not on the face you want to capture most beautifully when there are several faces in a frame. The Face Recognition prioritizes focus and exposure right on the face of your special person. In playback, you can choose to display only photos that contain a specific registered face using the Category Playback.The Face Detection also features the Digital Red-eye Correction (Red-eye Removal). The camera takes care of the red-eye effect that often happens when shooting with a flash, to ensure attractive facial expression.
- Intelligent Scene Selector - Scene Detection
- When the camera's in the iA Mode, the Intelligent Scene Selector automatically sets the Scene Mode to one of Scenery, Portrait, Macro, Night Portrait, Night Scenery or Sunset. The camera judges it from the various detection results such as focusing and brightness level of the circumstance. You are free from annoying settings every time scene changes when taking images with these most frequently used Scene Modes to get beautiful results even before you know it.
- AF Tracking - Subject Detection
- Once you focus on your subject, the AF Tracking automatically tracks it until you press the shutter. When you're taking images of an active subject, like children or pets, this function eliminates the need to press the shutter button halfway down repeatedly to readjust the focus. The AF Tracking makes sure you don't miss those once-in-a-lifetime shooting opportunities. The DMC-TS3 also features the Quick AF. Ordinary AF is activated when the shutter button is pressed half-way, while the Quick AF starts operating as soon as the camera is pointed toward a subject. This dramatically reduces the shutter delay time and lets you take images quickly. Its super-fast focus is ideal for capturing quick images of active children and pets. By setting the camera to the Quick AF, images of sudden shooting opportunities won't be out of focus or blurry.
- 3D Photo Mode
- The 3D Photo Mode produces a 3D image in the camera. The image-processing method used by LUMIX records beautiful images with less distortion or visible image links. Take 20 panning shots and the camera automatically selects the two most suitable images - one for the right eye and one for the left eye - to synthesize a 3D composite. The 3D image can be viewed on a VIERA HDTV. The 3D image format is compatible with MPO, so it can be played back on other MPO-compatible equipment such as TVs and digital photo frames, or printed.

- Photos or movies recorded in AVCHD on the SD/SDHC/SDXC Memory Cards are easy to view on a Panasonic VIERA TV. - Select from 4 Aspect Ratios Featuring 1:1 Aspect Mode
- In addition to 4:3, 3:2, and 16:9, you can now shoot with a 1:1 aspect ratio. This unique square frame adds to your image expression possibilities. The 16:9 ratio produces images that match the aspect ratio of an HDTV screen. Being able to match the aspect ratio to your subject and shooting intent gives you even greater control.

For musical slideshows created with the included PHOTOfunSTUDIO 6.1 HD Lite Edition, you can choose your favorite iTunes music file as background music and burn it onto a DVD disc as an MPEG2 file. It is also possible to upload the slideshow to YouTube.
- Quick Menu
- Frequently used functions can be quickly retrieved and easily switched by using the Q.MENU button. The function names are displayed in text form, making them easy for anyone to understand and use.
- Built-In Memory 19MB
- Take photos even when you don't have an SD/SDHC/SDXC Memory Card on hand. The built-in memory holds up to approx. 19MB of image data, which you can later copy to an SD/SDHC/SDXC Memory Card or computer. You can also copy images from a memory card or computer to the built-in memory, and view them on the LCD anytime you like. - Title Edit/Text Stamp
- The Title Edit function in the playback mode lets you edit the titles of any photos you want. You can also record information of the place when taking photos in the GPS / Sensor Mode or enter the birth date and name of your subject in the Baby Mode or Pet Mode. The title, date of GPS/Sensor information, name, age based on the birth date, and date of shooting are displayed during playback, and can be printed on photos.

I used this camera on a motorcycle trip last summer. It takes amazing clear photos while moving extremely fast. The gps function is great for remembering exactly where the photo was taken. I didn't have to worry about the weather and the camera getting wet. I also took it on a whitewater rafting trip. It was great to be able to take photos while going down the river and under the water. I haven't found anything I don't like about this camera. The zoom is good. The gps function is great. If you are an outdoor enthusist this is the camera for you.

I usually use DSLR as my main camera gear, I bought this camera mainly for snorkeling. I found the lens is easy to get foggy, the picture quality is not as good as I expected, the contrast is bit low comparing to my pana lx3. What really disappoint me is my camera leak at the second day I use it. I have had use it only 5 mins!! it ruined my whole trip!! I was thinking if I should have got the Canon D10 instead.

It had this camera for about a couple of months and it was not cheap, for a compact camera, but was working nicely and I was happy with it. Even though I followed every precaution and instruction it has in the manual it stopped working for no reason while I was at the beach. I am from Brazil and because I bought the camera abroad Panasonic says I got no guarantee and would charge US$ 250,00 just to open it to check what happened. Never buy from Panasonic again.

I use the camera camping, and at H2O parks . Camera has survived a number of good falls and still takes good photos. Video looks great under water, and looks good on a 50ich tv.

Bought this for a trip to the Dominican Republic beaches, etc. Catamarran, fast boat trips, snorkel and rain! Did not have to worry about the water issues. Takes great photos & videos, compact enough to fit in my front pocket to avoid sticky hands. Have not yet downloaded videos and am wondering about the audio capture.

This will be the 2nd TS3 I have owned and I also had a TS1. The first one went swimming off Jost vandyke. Great HD video in good light...a bit disappointing in the bars/restaurants in low light. Bulletproof. The only advantage GoPro's have over these neat little cameras are some of the mounts. I like the picture these provide and it is one contained unit...unlike GoPro's where they have all kinds of 'extras' you have to buy to make them do the same thing this one does. Don't drink the GoPro coolaid. Get one of these cheap!

Got this to replace a Lumix point and shoot which got Sahara sand inside the lens. This model has less on the tele end, but is completely sealed against water, dust, etc. Big plus over other small Lumix: you can zoom while doing video.

Nice rugged waterproof camera. Liked the TS2, but decided to go for a TS3. Rugged, strong and waterproof. Never have to worry what my kids will do to it.

I have only had this camera short time but I have already found it to fit our needs. We have 2 other Lumix camera, but I can tell this is going to become our vacation camera - and it waterproof, too. It is very easy to operate, which I really need. I can also hold it with one had to take beautiful pictures. So far, it is by far the best camera we have ever had. Thank you Panasonic for making this great small highly function digital camera. :)

Great underwater camera and above water as well. Heed all cautions about getting water in the camera, otherwise the camera will fail. Had the earlier version and liked the position of the zoom buttons much better on the old version. Other than that, this is the camera for me. Love it!

I loved the ease of this camera when I recently took it to Cuba on a Dive trip. I bought the Panasonic HOUSING f/PANASONIC LUMIX DMC-TS3 - PADMWMCFT3 with it and together I was able to get some pretty decent pictures and Videos. I would highly recommend this camera for the simple functions, that being said the HD pictures and video compliment this camera. All my friends are raving at my photos and videos. Buy a spare batery though if you want to take a lot of video with it.

I love the design, color, terrific features, ease of use and excellent image quality.
A retractable cover over the lens would improve the camera.

For a shockproof, waterproof camera this takes great images and especially good HD video. I have used it extensively in the snow and around the water. I don't look after it. It gets thrown in whatever bag is going. The main problem is trying to operate it in the situations it is designed for. The buttons are tiny! Try it with ski gloves and you'll realise the buttons need to be bigger and spaced out more.

I bought this camera primarily to take fishing, kayaking and down the beach. It's been great to take swimming in the surf, enabling the capture of great actions shots.
So far I've been impressed with its image quality; the wide angle lens is very useful and can give interesting shots.
The GPS is surprisingly accurate at locating place names – I wasn't expecting this to be the case in Australia.
The message about the precautions for underwater use will continue to pop up every time the camera is started, but if you take the time to review all 12 pages of precautions, it will no longer appear.
Overall for the reasons I purchased this camera I am very happy

I use this camera in constrution. I take 300-800 pics a day. It is great even with no flash inside great. The battery is awesome I got 778 pics before it died. I have dropped it 4-5 ft o concrete picked up and took a great pic. I have not even noticed a flaw yet. I had the fuji xp20. Piece of junk bad pics if yiu bump it goes blurry takes forever to turn on and reload flash. Garbage. However I love this Lumix
