The Porta Brace Universal Shoulder Pad is designed to offer extra cushioning for various DSLR shoulder-mount rigs or for certain shoulder-mounted broadcast cameras. The bottom of the pad is covered with an anti-skid dot fabric to keep the camera or shoulder-mount assembly in place on your shoulder.
The pad attaches to a camera or to rig hardware via three hook-and-loop fasteners.
Note! Shoulder-mount rig not included – pad only.

Comments about Porta Brace Universal Shoulder Pad:
I got to admit that at first I was a little disappointed of the Pad. In fact it is just some (3) layers of foam, wrapped in Nylon with some velcro. You can disassemble it completely, and than you got that feeling that you could have build it yourself for less than what you payed for. But on the other Hand, why want you build it yourself and End up with something that looks like DiY, when you can buy some that, at least, looks and works professional. And it works just great with my Rod system. It takes the Heavy pressure of my shoulder. And the fact that I'm a huge Porta Brace Fan, I got to have it.

Comments about Porta Brace Universal Shoulder Pad:
Nice, big and soft, with numerous flaps and Velcro to allow it to be mounted any way to almost any equipment. Typical great Porta Brace quality, and it looks like it will wear well and last a long time. It was a little too bulky to use with the particular camcorder I had intended it for, but I'm keeping this because it will undoubtedly come in handy for some future rig.

Comments about Porta Brace Universal Shoulder Pad:
This is a terrific design. It is very comfortable. The only issue I had with it was the fact that the foam is level, however the slope of most people's shoulders is not. So when it was sitting on my shoulder it would cause the rig to tilt a little to the right with the downward slope of my shoulder. But thank's to the well thought-out design all I had to do was to open up the pouch that holds the foam (it secures with velcro) and add another piece of foam to the outer edge under the right side rail. Worked like a charm. The stock foam feels a little stiff. Might try some softer foam at some point. Overall I think this is very well designed and I would definitely recommend it.

Comments about Porta Brace Universal Shoulder Pad:
Using this with both a DSLR rig with rods, and with a super 16mm film camera. Excellent cushioning. The non slip material which rests on the shoulder works well. Any of the three layers of foam of different thicknesses can be removed to suit one's preference. Very useful, well made product!

Comments about Porta Brace Universal Shoulder Pad:
Finally there is a quick and easy solution to the shoulder cushioning problem for the video cameras that require rail support. It peals off partially so that it can be left on the rails while the camera is on a tripod. When it is time to put it on the shoulder, you just take it off the tripod and velcro the pad quickly under the rails. The best part...It is black ...not that awful blue.
