I purchased this to be able to listen to music in my room while traveling; it's just different than having headphones on. I wanted something smaller than a dock-type iPod/Phone speaker but still sound pretty good. I returned this one as the sound just wasn't up to snuff. Probably would be good for news/talk, but for music, didn't do it for me. I'll have to try others.

The "pop open and close" feature broke after about the 5 cycle. The bottom half now stays popped out and unprotected permanently. But, other than making the unit a little larger and it's ports less protected, it still works nice. I use it with my android phone to stream Pandora while at the beach or pool. Worth the price. Just barely.
