I use this microphone for podcasting, as well as recording narration (and even the occasional line of ADR). I still can't believe how good it sounds - especially the omni-directional mode, which we use for podcasting. I don't understand how it manages to capture such clear sound despite some people being across the room. My only complaint is that the stereo XLR breakout cable is WAY too short, essentially requiring the use of an additional XLR cable. This is a perfect mic for newbies, and anyone with a DIY home studio.

Not sure why more people haven't mentioned this, but this mic has very low gain in USB mode. You have to turn the gain all the way up on the mic, and in your software to get useable sound. This is a known issue on The Yeti Pro, that the original Yeti USB mic does not have. The Yeti Pro also has driver issues in Windows 7, that can cause various problems, stuttering, drop outs, and high latency. As far as I know Blue has not addressed these problems.
If I hadn't gone beyond 30 days I would return this. If I can't get good results with the mic in analog mode, I'll sell it. From reading other reviews around the net The Yeti USB, the original mic, has good gain levels, and is usually plug and play. Wish I'd bought that.

Comments about Blue Yeti Pro USB & XLR Microphone:
I purchased Blue Microphones Yeti Pro after spending several days researching USB microphones. Its main purpose for our studio is to record video tutorials, SKYPE, and the occasional studio recording. After unboxing the mic we were impressed with the build quality and styling.
The disappointment came when we plugged the mic into the year-old iMac running OSX 10.7.3. We followed Blue's instruction booklet to the letter and were alarmed when the audio recording was extremely quiet. After over an hour of testing at various gain levels and OSX audio settings, we could not resolve the issue. We've also tested this on two other Mac Pros and experienced the same gain problem and they are running 10.6.8.
After a little online research I discovered many other people who have experienced this problem as well. It seems that it's not simply a Mac problem. Several Windows users have experienced similar problems.
I sent a tech support request to Blue Microphones and several days later received a response stating the following...
"We have had issues with the Yeti Pro's gain in the past, but our engineering department has recently found a solution to fix the Yeti Pro mics already sold. This requires the return of your unit & is covered under the warranty."
Today I received a brand new replacement unit from them and after several hours of testing we're experiencing the exact same gain issue we had previously experienced.
Don't buy this microphone if you intend to use it as a USB microphone. More than likely it won't perform as well as it should.
My experience with Blue Microphones has been extremely frustrating and has left me with absolute resolve never to buy one of their products again. I'll also never recommend this USB mic to clients or colleagues or anyone else for that matter. It's been a terrible experience.

Comments about Blue Yeti Pro USB & XLR Microphone:
The best USB microphone is in a category of itself and should not be compared with non-USB microphone.
The sound recorded through this best USB microphone does not have the clarity of other professional microphone.
A wind screen is strongly recommended to avoid the clipping noises.

Comments about Blue Yeti Pro USB & XLR Microphone:
I was pleasantly surprised by the sound - especially the warm bass. Very well constructed.
It came up with a device error until I read the guide and worked out I had to install the specific driver from the manufacture. In the end, not a big deal.
It does produce nice rich tones when speaking close to it. It is on the heavy side, but I think that is a good thing.
You can't go wrong with this one.

Yes, it picks up every noise in the room but i thought that's what a good microphone should do.
This is a game changer product at a very good price.
Can't wait to do some serious music and voice recordings for my movie..so...turn off your cell phones and anything making a noise you don't want to hear and enjoy.

I've used this microphone for voiceover and podcasting the quality of sound recorded in 24 bit 192khz is unbelievable. This microphone is durable and I would like to suggest to make the next model more slim and less weight.

The XLR quality was outstanding. The USB quality was good, but I wasn't able to get the same level of input gain using USB. Had to talk right next to the mic.

Comments about Blue Yeti Pro USB & XLR Microphone:
My wife and I picked this microphone up to do some podcasting and theatrical sound design. It's a bit heavy, but it's a dream to use: we just plug it into a laptop and we have a portable recording studio. The sound quality is better than anything we've owned before. I've used some professional microphones before, but this is the first one I've owned. The bidirectional setting is particularly useful--sounds from in front and in back of the mic pick up loud and clear, but computer fans and meowing cats to either side are nigh-inaudible in the recording.
I'd say this is the best microphone you can get in this price range.

So far I have used the mic as an external mic for my logitec hd cam. I thought the mic would be more sensitive, even with the gain cranked you have to be relatively close.
When you make a video though, the thing looks nice. Looks line a pro mic. Not some shure sm58 on a stand. It gives you an extra appearance of professionalism.
The sound is great.
On my pc, I hear a crackle but I think it might be some emf issues.

I use this product in voice over work and love the crystal clear reproduction. A bit bulky, but worth it.
As a caveat, DO NOT try using this with a Sony Vaio laptop as you are unable to listen to the audio that has been recorded on the laptop using the Yeti headphone jack. Nor can you monitor what is being recorded from the Yeti while using the Vaio headphone jack, the Sony laptop is totally worthless for field recording and editing.

I got the thing, and it didn't work. Some kind of USB conflict. Turns out, after 2 weeks of tearing my hair out, that it NEEDS not to be in a USB 3.0 port. That was the problem. And there was no USB 3.0 chip set on the horizon. But tech support was compassionate and determined to make it right for me. I highly recommend these people and this mic.(I literally 'found' a hidden USB 2.0 on my laptop the two weeks later!!)

Full time music teacher, and this is just one elegant solution. I've recorded live to two-track for 20 years, and typically have a complicated set-up, 2 Neumann's, tube mic-pre, to firewire interface. Worked OK at my old location (just moved to larger space). Yeti Pro is quiet, great on Skype, and just keeps things simpler for when I need to record on the fly and keep things simple. I like to mix down from 24/176.4, and it sure is nice to have something this elegant for the job. Probably saving me four hours a week of fussing around (when all I want to do is create some content!). Nice job Blue (this is my first Blue mic).
