With 1000 Watts of total power the Panasonic SC-BTT770 Full HD 3D Blu-ray Home Theater System has the audio power to fill a large living room but it's small enough to fit in a den or bedroom.
It's versatile too. It can play a wide variety of Blu-ray, DVD and CD formats and it can do all sorts of neat tricks like play JPEG slide shows with background music. You'll see that detail sharply thanks to features like the SC-BTT770's 192kHz/24bit video digital to analog converter (DAC) and its two HDMI connectors.
Of course if you don't go online with your Blu-ray player you're missing out on a lot of fun. Just plug your SC-BTT770 into your broadband router or modem or you can go wireless with the built-in WiFi. On the Net you'll find an ever-expanding choice of free, paid and subscription based services that include YouTube, Netflix, Slacker and Pandora.
In addition to outstanding Blu-ray images and improved pictures from your DVDs, you'll enjoy a number of different surround sound modes including Dolby Digital, Dolby Pro Logic II from all sources as well as Dolby TrueHD for Blue-ray sources. Those sources can include up to 30 preset FM radio stations and your iPod. This unit's universal iPod dock is compatible with dozens of iPod models. Depending on the model you own, it can play music and video and display the titles on a connected TV (TV sold separately).
The SC-BTT770's complement of high-quality speakers put all of these great specs to good use. The front and center speakers feature special anti-distortion circuitry for crisp clear sound while the surround speakers deliver the ambience. Front and Center speaker installation is always a snap but what holds some folks back from purchasing a 5.1 system is the annoyance of running rear speaker wire. The SC-BTT770 has that covered with the inclusion of a rear speaker wireless transmitter which makes set up easy and aesthetically pleasing. The down-firing 6.5" subwoofer adds a visceral thrill to your programming.
Last but not least, the SC-BTT770 supports 3D in full HD. All you need is a 3D disc and optional shutter glasses to experience imagery so real you'll think you can reach out and touch it.

The system arrived well packaged. All parts and cables clearly marked. It went together easily - with two cables left over. It turned out that Panasonic had provided two long cables to direct wire the surround speakers in the case that wireless is not desired.
Adjustment was a struggle at first. The subwoofer sounded overemphasized and rumbly, even though the level was set to the minimum of -6 db. I was nearly ready to return the system when another pass through the manual unconvered that the subwoofer level is actually affected by two different settings .. one being the level (which I already had at minimum), and the other being an "amount of bass" which encompasses 4 levels from "Weakest effect" to "Strongest effect." Reducing that effect level made all the difference. The subwoofer became a smooth addition to music rather than a floor pounding thumper.
My system is connected to a Panasonic Viera TV - and the two work together very well. I have the STB HDMI plugged into the theater system, and the theater system plugged into the HDMI input of the TV. When I turn on the TV, the sound system starts up as well. If I don't want the theater sound, I just turn theater power off and, after a few seconds of silence, the sound comes just from the TV speakers. Very smooth and easy to operate once configured.
Bottom line: I am very happy with the SC-BTT770 and would recommend it to anyone not afraid to read the manual a few times. It sounds great.

For the price, the sound is good. There are quirks to this system. The manual acknowledges these as a "phenomenon"... not something you want to see in a set up manual. If you are trying to watch cable tv with a cable box routed through, the system takes about 20 seconds to recognize, and start up completely. It will turn the Panasonic tv on without sound, then cut off then turn on again 2 or 3 times, finally with the sound. When you turn the system on next time, the set-up screen comes up again -- it forgets where it was. The Blu-Ray player is fine. I have no 3D TV or plans to have one so I can't comment on that feature.
The speaker system has proprietory connection plugs that are color coded. If you need to place speakers beyond a certain point you must CUT & SPLICE wire instead of just using one longer wire. If you use the longer wires that were intended for the rear speakers for the front speakers don't forget to re-label them because the color coded ends won't match up to the terminals on the back of the unit.
The speaker stand bases and upright sections offer no medium height choice...either use the full height or hang the speakers on a wall with a nail (no hanging brackets included). The wireless transmitter for the rear speakers works fine.
All in all it is a good sounding system for the money -- for a den, bedroom or small living room.

Wireless connection will not support NETFLIX or a few other APPs. This is the second unit and both units have the same issue. No Audio on NETFLIX. I can regain Audio by doing a factory reset every 24 hours. Then you have to rebuild all of your accounts. Contacted Tech support several times, I can now trouble shoot better than they can. Asked for a Supervisor told me one is not availble, please wait after 5 minutes hung up on these two happend several times. Did manage to speak to Supervisor once that I remember, after one hour on my cordless phone it went dead and he has not resolved my issue. Please tell where to get a better product.

after a couple of days of operation NETFLIX will start to screw up No sound or sound out or sync with the picture doesnt matter if you use wireless or wired connection after a couple of days problems start to show up The only fix is to unplug the unit and then start again after which it works fine for a couple of more dayz. Panasonic are not any help.
all in all i like the unit but cant recommend it i its current state

I purchased this product specifically to use with Netflix, but doesn't. I contacted Panasonic's technical support and below is their exact response:
"Thank you for your inquiry. We do apologize for the inconvenience, we have had several cases of Netflix flickering, based on our experiences and expertise we must advised that the flickering issue that you are experiencing may not be related to the player but with the Netflix program. We suggest that you contact Netflix for further assistance.
Thank you for contacting Panasonic."
Netflix will constantly flicker during play back and Panasonic is aware of the problem, but is doing nothing to correct it. I also contacted B&H and their support was incredible. They replaced the original unit with a new one, but unfortunately the replacement has the same issue. B&H is a great company with terrific customer service!
The blu-ray fuctionality works great and the sound quality is excellent

System is easy to set up, has great sound and picture and internet functionality (Pandora, Netflix). Nice functions include: (i) TV (including cable) can be used when the system is turned off; (ii) works great with AVCHD files on an SD card; (iii)
A few cons: (i) no DLNA; (ii) no USB; (iii) not much support for .mkv files; (iv) system always returns to the "home" screen when turned on (instead of defaulting to the HDMI source).

This is my home theater system for watching movies on my weekends.
This system has a great sound. The wifi is nice and the bluray does produce a really nice picture. All in all it is worth the price.
Only two downsides are my old system had a 5 dvd changer. I miss that. And this system does not play the FM radio unless the tv is on. With a plasma tv this renders the radio pretty much useless.

It is completely controlled by the TV (Viera) unless you want to pick up the remote and adjust, just turn on the TV and it follows the lead. Good rich sounds and wireless rear speakers, just what I wanted.

Comments about Panasonic SC-BTT770 Full HD 3D Blu-ray Home Theater System:
As titled, the speaker wires are so short, with proprietary plugs, that I had to splice more wire to get separation on the back speakers. The sound is noticeably weaker than the SC-HT940 I'm replacing. When using Netflix I get noticeable black flashes during streaming viewing along with huge slowdown if you set any Internet apps on auto. The wireless Internet module died within a month. Also I really miss the onscreen menus of the 940, given, that I'm 25 feet from the TV and all of the prompts are on the LED face on the unit.
Other than that I guess I'm satisfied with the DVD play, it's crisp and easy to use. Just memorize the function route and you're good to go.

Easy to set up but dont miss unpacking the rear speaker system wireless transmitter that is taped to the outside of some packing material. The on screen menu makes it simple to adjust each speaker in the system. Am enjoying it for TV currently haven't watched a surround sound movie yet but am sure it will be fine.

I use the product in the office with a 32" HDTV. It is great for watching a movie with just the two of us and the kids love the 3D feature and keeps them busy while the adults are in the family room. The sound is great in the price category.
