The Samsung BD-D5500 Blu-ray Disc Player (Black) is full of features to keep you entertained, and supports 3D content as well as 3D upconversion from 2D content. The Wi-Fi ready BD-D5500 gives you access to online content with streaming capabilities and is packed into a compact package that adds a sophisticated edge to any space.
If you have 3D Blu-ray discs, the BD-D5500 supports playback for an immersive, cinema-quality experience along with a 3D-ready HDTV or home theater projector as well as a 3D-ready cable and 3D glasses (sold separately). If you don't have any 3D content yet, this exceptional disc player will upconvert your 2D content to near-3D image quality so you can still get the full wraparound experience. Or, if you have a large collection of DVDs, this player will upconvert them so you can enjoy them in higher definition with added detail and color depth closer to the image quality of HD.
This player is Wi-Fi ready, along with an adapter (sold separately) and supports Samsung Smart TV for instant streaming of online content and Samsung apps. This integrated service lets you search across the internet, access Samsung apps, and search content on your TV or online.
The BD-D5500 supports several file formats including DivX HD for video files on your computer as well as MP3 music files and JPEG photo files. With two USB ports, you can easily pop in a USB flash drive with stored photos to share with family and friends on the big screen in high definition.
But premium quality video delivery is only half of the full entertainment experience. This player also supports several Dolby and DTS audio formats to give you high resolution audio and allow you to get the most out of your movie collection.
With Anynet+ (HDMI CEC) you can streamline control into just a single remote for an ultra-convenient entertainment experience. Along with a quick 3-second load time and fast rebooting time, you're all set to start enjoying your favorites right away. This player is also fully compliant with Energy Star 2.0 for a minimal drain on both the environment and your wallet. Its compact form factor will fit just about anywhere while the high-gloss black finish complements any decor.

[...] We hooked up and initialized our set by ourselves, and without much problem, however we called a friend who is an electriconics installer to help us hook up and operate our set with the 3D Blu-ray DVD player and our surround sound system. Within about three hours, we were watching a 3D movie on our set in surround sound. The pictureee and sound are awesome, although the TV only sound is not really loud. Personally I think the TV sound is a little soft and muddy, but for movies our system is great. We are VERY impressed with the 3D effects with the provided 3d Glasses, Blu-Ray player and our 64" Samsung TV, and color and sharpness are great!

As a blu-ray player I am very happy. The wi-fi is an insult. It is not built in. Just a USB port to attach a Samsung wi-fi adapter. Only problem is that they haven't been available for two years even then the price was the same as the player's. A computer wi-fi will not work and I have not found a compatible adapter. After buying two that were supposed to work but didn't, I give up.

We like the fact that we can get rid of the Netflix box & that the remote works for both DVDs & Netflix. We need to get an HDMI cable, or something like that, so we can stream some movies & shows directly from our Internet connection.

Had problems registering onto Netflix, after trying 3 or 4 times, called Samsung help, but they were of no help, I left it unplugged for about an hour, then it finally took the code, now it works like a charm.

Well I haven't even watched a movie on this and its still going back. Its constantly installing smart hub updates and it goes on for over a half hour every time and its been 6 times in 2 nites..... Somethings got to be wrong with it. Samsung rep says to return it but couldn't tell me what was going on... Gonna try an LG.

Great product - use it with a Samsung LED 3D TV. Easy to use, easy set-up. You need an adapter if you want to use it for streaming (I don't need this function, as I have a SmartTV instead). Highly recommend.

Part of a package deal with the TV we bought so wasn't sure how good it would be. Was pleasently surprise at the picture quality and ease of use.

Love the design and weight of the product. Plays blu-ray discs remarkably clear without buffer. Simply one of the best blu-ray that samsung makes.
