The Samsung BD-D6500 Blu-ray Disc Player is an exceptional multi-format disc player with support for 3D content, built-in Wi-Fi, and access to online streaming when paired with an internet connection.
First off, if you have 3D content the BD-D6500 offers full support for 3D visual experiences that will draw you into the action of your favorite movies and games. Along with additional 3D accessories (sold separately), you're all set to start enjoying the intense 3D visuals encoded on an increasing number of Blu-ray discs.
For your collection of DVDs, this player has the answer. It upscales to near-HD picture quality when you watch your favorite DVDs. In addition to the sharp imaging of full HD 1080p resolution, it also supports 1080i, 720p, 480p and 480i resolutions. Since it can support playback at 24 frames per second which is the way most movies were filmed, you can enjoy cinema quality imaging effortlessly, along with a TV that also supports this frame rate.
While this player offers superb video playback capabilities, it also features built-in Wi-Fi along with an internet connection and gives you access to Samsung apps once you get online. Samsung Smart Hub gives you access to hundreds of web apps to give you additional interactivity. The player also supports BD Live and BONUSVIEW content, and if you download a Samsung app to your compatible mobile device like a compatible smartphone, you can control everything from one device.
All of this connectivity, high performance video, and audio processing comes in a slim package that looks smart anywhere you put it. The BD-D6500 is an exceptional entertainer from top to bottom, and its appearance is no exception. While it is compact enough to fit in any room of the house, its black and silver finish ensures it lends a sophisticated edge to any space.

Got this player because I was looking for a reasonably priced Blu Ray player with built in WiFi that I could connect to an older big screen TV via component video while also being able to use with more modern HDMI TVs when I was ready to upgrade. This unit met all my requirements. Wireless setup was not as straightforward as I had hoped when attempting to connect to a MacBook via Internet Sharing. This is the only reason I gave 4 instead of 5 stars. I now use ethernet directly but think a dedicated wireless access point should resolve my wireless issue. Overall, great product though! Sleek design, great picture, and good apps (Netflix, Vudu, etc.)!

My PS3 got the yellow light of death, and I wasn't playing many games on it so I decided to just get a standalone blu-ray player. I had some good experience with Samsung in general and some of their blu-ray players specifically, and this looked like a good bet. Maybe I was too used to the overpowered processor in the PS3, but this thing takes, no joke, two minutes to load Netflix, and besides that the Netflix app has been buggy and slow. I also discovered that it won't play several of my blu-ray discs. I haven't tried all of my discs yet, but it only played 1 out of 3 so far that I watched with no problem on the PS3. Unless there is a firmware update in the next few days the addresses these problems, I am planning to return this.

Comments about Samsung BD-D6500 Blu-ray Disc Player:
I've been very late to the Blu Ray party but after seeing a couple of them at friend's houses well, it was time to upgrade. The connection to my home wi fi was super simple, took all of 3 minutes. It then took a couple of minutes to download and install the various apps. Been having a ball watching some TV shows on Netflix. Will be watching some Blu Ray when they arrive in tomorrow's mail. So far the streaming has been fine but it is the middle of the day now and not prime time so we will see.

I bought this player to replace a 5 year old Samsung that had started to reject some of my picture DVDs. So far I'm extremely satisfied with the ease and quality of this model. All of my older DVDs now play again.

I use this player for MP3, CD, DVD, & Blu-ray playback. It takes up very little space, looks elegant, and does its job with no fuss or bother. It connects to my home theater amp via hdmi cable. It is completely compatible with my Samsung 46" HD TV.

Comments about Samsung BD-D6500 Blu-ray Disc Player:
What a nice-looking, efficient, feature-packed blu-ray player this is! You have all the internet features in this player that you would if you purchased an expensive "Smart" television set. You can wirelessly access NetFlix, Vudu, Blockbuster, HuluPlus and more, including various Samsung apps. And the price is excellent.

The built in web is awesome! Dedicated Netflix button. Faster than any game console. Great picture with regular DVDs. For the price, there is nothing better. Using it with 150 screen and Epson 8350 projector.

This blue-ray player works great and is very good for the price.
The only complaint that i have is that id you try and stream video from your computer via windows media player or using the samsung allshare it does not work very well.
The ps3 handles this much much better even though this dvd player has DLNA capability.
Overall if you want to play Blue-Ray, Stream Prandora Netflix, Hulu Plus it works perfectly.

We've setup two units in the house, and added both to our home wireless network. Has given us nice options for how we play video, audio and web services.

Good all-around product, but the wireless card has trouble picking up my internet. Also the widgets are OK, but not good enough to replace a cheap and simple computer setup.

Comments about Samsung BD-D6500 Blu-ray Disc Player:
This is a great player for media from the past, present and future. I'm using it with my Haier HD TV and my Bose Wave music system. It is so thin it almost gets lost on my wall unit, also the white illumination is a poor choice alongside the other green and blue.
