A B&W 77mm #110 Solid Neutral Density 3.0 Filter has several uses and offers the possibility to achieve otherwise unachievable results. ND filters appear gray and reduce the amount of light reaching the film. They have no effect on color balance. Neutral Density filters enable the shooter to adjust exposure without affecting color balance. ND filters appear gray and reduce the amount of light reaching the film. Neutral density filters are available in 1, 2, 3, or 4 stops to suit individual situations.
Neutral Density filters permit you to create unique effects. When using high speed film in bright light, an ND filter will allow you to blur motion such as speeding cars or moving water. This permits adjustments in aperture and exposure that would normally not be possible without the filter. Determining which neutral density filter yields ideal results for any given lighting situation takes knowledge, experience and a collection of such filters. Speaking generally, the 2-stop value (ND 0.6) effectively compensates average situations.
The reputation of B+W's Schott glass is world renowned. The high production standards combined with a sturdy brass filter ring make B+W filters hard to beat. These filters have a "heft" to them that is impressive. They may feel heavier but the benefit is in the construction and results. Not only is the glass exceptional but so is the seal between the ring and glass. Schott Glass used in the manufacture of this filter is legendary and synonymous with the highest standards of filter production. It comes with a solid 10-year warranty.
This mount is B+Ws F-Pro mount which represents a revolution in filter mounts. The mount is thinner than previous mounts which means they can be used with wider angle lenses including most 24mm lenses on a full-frame body without fear of vignetting (dark corners on the frame). Another improvement is that the glass is no longer held in place with a front retaining ring but rather from the back. This innovation eliminates the possibility of a hood or second filter that has been screwed in excessively tight from damaging the retaining ring. The filter ring itself is made from brass yielding a stronger product. Brass filter rings are also less prone to jamming. In addition, the seal between the glass and filter ring is exceptionally strong giving the filter added strength and durability.
The Multi-Resistant Coating (MRC) is harder than traditional B+W glass. This helps prevent scratches as well as being water and dirt repellent.
In production, the filter glass is dropped into the empty filter ring from the rear and held in place with a threaded retaining ring; this is a definite advantage over a competitor who uses a spring clip to hold the glass in place. A threaded retaining ring will hold the glass firmly and securely in place to avoid the possibility of rattling and provide perfect parallelity and flatness to your front lens element for ideal optics. The part about additional filters not binding is due to the fact that brass is a very stable metal and does not contract or expand like alloy.

I use this filter to get great Long Exposures. The colour is unique, but I usually do it for a black and white final edit. I use it with the ND 1.8 to get to an 8 minute exposure for an amazing effect. It screws on easily and doesn't get stuck, it's super clear and it comes with nice casing. Worth every penny.

this is a specialist filter, used when you want to blur the motion of running water while keeping everything else tack sharp, or when you want an urban photo without identifiable people or vehicles; 5 s at f/11 in daylight. It has a bit of a colour cast, but less than any other I've tried with similar light attenuation. It's so dark though that you need to setup your photo and focus first then add the filter, or else shoot blind with preset manual focus.

Comments about B+W 77mm #110 Solid Neutral Density (ND) 3.0 Multi-Coated Filter:
I swear by B+W MC filters. The build quality and quality of the glass for the price is simply the best. This 10-stop ND filter is nothing short of what you would expect from B+W. You will get a slight color shift but nothing that can't be corrected in the digital dark room. I was trying to decide between this one and the Hoya. The brass construction was a big deciding factor considering i sometimes stack filters and don't want to take the risk of them sticking.

The best 10 stop ND filter I have. Started out buying even a more expensive variable density filter that failed in so many ways. This screw on filter is so much easier to deal with than 4x4 filters with filter holder adaptor ring etc
The B&W ND110 has a slight color cast on the red side, but its an easy fix. I find all darker ND filters from 0.6 and up have a slight color cast.

This filter works great if you are looking for a replacement to the LEE big stopper- which can be hard to get these days.
I recently used this filter to get longer exposure times during the daytime. You can easily find yourself shooting 8-10 second exposures in direct sunlight with this filter. This helps eliminate people from your shot since they tend to move too fast to be recorded in most situations, and it makes things like clouds and trees blur into pleasing shapes that imply motion.
It is a true 10-stop ND, it does show some color shift towards red/magenta, but thats easily correctable with a new white balance. The filter threads were smooth on my ZE lenses.

Comments about B+W 77mm #110 Solid Neutral Density (ND) 3.0 Multi-Coated Filter:
I use this filter to do long exposures, and it works brilliantly. I focus everything prior to screwing on the filter, then set focus to manual. I have not noticed any color cast with the filter, but I also set my white balance manually and make adjustments in post (shoot RAW). I would definitely recommend this filter to anyone wanting to do long exposures.

This is a very sturdy, well built, high quality deep ND filter. The filter mount is made out of brass and never sticks to filter mounts. The glass is multicoated, and while it is a bit more tricky to clean it affords excellent clarity and flare resistance. The filter is well calibrated, meaning that you can predictably get correct exposures by metering without the filter, adding 10 EV of exposure and screw the filter in place. The filter gives a very slight yellow cast that can be either pleasing or removed in post.

I bought this along with a few step-up (or down) rings so I can use all all my lenses. They work great. I have taken a few long exposure photos with very interesting results. Lot more experimenting to do.. its fun!

I love the ability to blur moving water, and to record the movement of clouds in my images. This 10 stops filter helps me achieve that even in broad daylight! I am still experimenting with various types of subjects, to understand what works best with this strong filter. For example, moody landscapes including dark clouds worked great! However, the details of foliage are likely to be lost even under light wind – not always the creative effect I was looking for.

Comments about B+W 77mm #110 Solid Neutral Density (ND) 3.0 Multi-Coated Filter:
I purchased this for my DSLR and camcorder. So far I haven't noticed any flares and the contrast/color remains excellent.
Note that this ND filter cuts exposure by about 10EV, so your exposure times needs to be multiplied by ~1024 times (2 to the power of 10)if you are using manual exposure. Also note that for darker scenes (twilight/night shots/nightscapes), the ND filter cuts so much light that your camera's auto focus/auto metering will NOT work once you put this filter on.
If you intend to shoot super long expossure night/twilight photography, you will need to focus and meter before putting this filter on.
