Comments about Pacific Image ImageBox 9Mp Standalone Scanner:
Fairly quick and easy to use. My only complaints are the incomplete instructions (what do some of the menu items mean?) and the color output of negatives. Otherwise a good solid purpose built machine.

Comments about Pacific Image ImageBox 9Mp Standalone Scanner:
My main reason for purchasing this product has been to get all those old slides onto database. My kids are now in their early 20s and have pretty much never had the chance to see themselves as babies. All the old family photos are in the form of slides, stored away "safely" - almost never to be seen again - until now! This unit has made the conversion very quick and easy. Either for viewing on the computer or TV, these conversions are perfect. If I ever want to reproduce a few of these old slides to high quality images, I would probably take the original slide to a professional shop to have that done. The most important thing for us right now is to ensure we have a chance to enjoy these old family photos today! It's easy to use, with some flexibility for image adjustment and cleanup too. It's easy to flip back and forth between the ImageBox and my computer to review my work as I go along in the conversion process. Great for checking quality. The ImageBox 9Mp Standalone Scanner by Pacific Image Electronics is ideal for this.

Worked great right out of box. Instruction book could have been better written. Brightness had to be turned DOWN for slides. Photos I adjusted the brightness to get best results. I recommend that you buy an extra slide holder and maybe film holder. I had to tilt unit to view screen(only drawback).

Comments about Pacific Image ImageBox 9Mp Standalone Scanner:
Bought this scanner to scan old B/W photos and many slides and negatives. The first unit scanned photos only & did a decent job. But the slider on the front would not slide into position to make the lens move to enable slide & neg scanning. I returned it for a second. Didn't try photos this time, but slides scanned dark blue/purple in color & color negs were over saturated. I converted most of those into BW photos. BW negs looked just like BW negs when scanned, not photos. I emailed the mfgr who told me to download an update & when I did, this unit stopped working altogether. Returned it for a third & I am awaiting arrival this week. I don't think there is any quality control involved here.

Comments about Pacific Image ImageBox 9Mp Standalone Scanner:
It's exciting to have scanned 1500 slides in the last week. The stand alone feature saves so much time and energy by allowing you to look and click at the same place. The instruction booklet is weak but the operation so simple it was easier to figure out on my own than to try to follow the booklet. Happy I made this choice.

Comments about Pacific Image ImageBox 9Mp Standalone Scanner:
Write image only in jpg with poor quality. (in options - 9M, quality - S.Fine). I don't understand why? Where is tif? I don't see any possibility to update imagebox software. Good idea, good design, but quality...
