The 4TB DriveStation Duo USB 3.0 Hard Drive RAID Array from Buffalo is a data-safe, high performance storage solution, designed for a variety of applications. This unit comes outfitted with two 2TB hard drives that can operate independently of one another in a "JBOD" configuration or together in a RAID 0 or RAID 1 array. If you want faster throughput for accessing your data, configure the array as a RAID 0, and if you want extra redundancy for more securely storing your data, go with RAID 1. So as to ensure fast data access and transfer speeds at up to 5Gb/s, this unit features a USB 3.0 port for connecting to your server or computer. That USB connection is backwards compatible with USB 2.0 as well. While the drive will work with nearly all PC and Mac computers, it is formatted in FAT32 so that you can immediately start using it with your Windows PC. In addition to the hard drive RAID array, you'll receive the TurboPC Utility software, Buffalo Tools software suite, and the NovaBACKUP Business Essentials software.* All told, the 4TB DriveStation Duo USB 3.0 Hard Drive RAID Array is an exceptional storage solution for small servers, creative professionals, offices, and serious consumers.

Comments about Buffalo 4TB DriveStation Duo USB 3.0 Hard Drive RAID Array:
the unit works great...is very compact and easy to setup. on starting up, the rear fan whirrs to let you know it is working. then it enters a state where the fan doesn't spin unless the drives within require cooling. when the fan does spin at that point, it is not as intense as during the startup. the noise level is very low. access lights on the front tell you the status of power and whether a specific drive is being accessed. the unit is easy to configure either using the supplied app on cd or by pushing the mode button at the rear of the unit. the drive powers into sleep mode when your computer does the same (provided the settings on your computer allow it to), thus saving energy. the drives within had a very large capacity and large 64MB cache. both drives utilize PMR technology, where a larger storage capacity is gained through perpendicular magnetic recording of data. overall, i like it!
