The Sony BDP-S380 Blu-ray Disc Player is a high quality Blu-ray player that features Wi-Fi capability for internet streaming, built-in decoding for high resolution audio and several other features at a competitive price.
When you connect an optional adapter to the USB port of the BDP-S380, it can connect your network to grant you access to both free and paid internet streaming services like Netflix, YouTube, HuluPlus and Pandora. Increase your entertainment options, as this gives you options to watch online movies, videos, TV programming and live sporting events.
This player can conveniently be controlled using your iPhone, iPad, or compatible Android phone after downloading an app to give you additional flexibility. The integrated Gracenote service allows you to display additional information about the movies you watch and even search across selected internet applications like YouTube and Qriocity.
To accompany your movies, games and other entertainment, the BDP-S380 also features a built-in decoder for high quality audio formats Dolby TrueHD, DTS-HD (Master Audio and High Resolution Audio) with up to 7.1 channels of discrete audio so you can get the full experience from your entertainment choices.
The player features both a front and back panel USB port for connecting peripheral devices like a camcorder or USB storage device, so you can display family photos or home movies. It even supports 3D video streaming from a camcorder and photo slideshows from CD or USB storage along with music.

- If you download the "Media Remote" app for your iPhone, iPad or compatible Android phone, you can control this player with your mobile device. - Gracenote ID
- With an internet connection, you can get additional information about the movie you're watching with the Gracenote service. See details like cast listings, genre and jacket art displayed on your TV screen. Access certain internet apps as well including YouTube and Qriocity to find entertainment.

- The two USB ports (1 in the front, 1 in the rear) let you connect your digital camera, camcorder, USB storage device or USB-enabled MP3 player. Display photos, videos or listen to music on your TV. The front-oriented USB is perfect for plugging in devices quickly, without reaching to the back of the unit.

I ordered this Blu-Ray Player with my first HiDef TV (KDL-32EX523. See my review). Being an old-school techno-geek and new to the realm of HDMI I connected the HDMI output directly to my TV and the audio out to my preamp as I always have done. Well I sat down to watch my first disc on my TV and switched my pre-amp to the players tnput. Much to my surprise I was in the Grand Canyon but not in a good way. A strong echo that even the A/V Sync adjustment had no effect on. [...] I was puzzled because I swear by the Sony brand when it comes to video. And then finally the bulb lit up. The HDMI output is so hi-speed that it is much faster than audio out hence the echo. Solution: use the headphone out on the TV to the preamp and problem solved. Cancelled the RMA and have enjoyed it ever since. PS: Spend the extra $ on an HDMI Monster cable.
