Sony STR-DH820 7.1 Channel 3D AV Receiver
The Sony STR-DH820 7.1 Channel 3D AV Receiver is a powerful receiver with support for 3D content and high resolution A/V processing, multiple connections and a power rating of 110 watts per channel.
It features seven (7) HD connections including four HDMI and three component video connections. It offers support for 3D content over HDMI (up to 1080p). The STR-DH820 upconverts and upscales video input material for enhanced picture quality (up to 1080i) with Faroudja Edge DCDi technology. It also supports playback of music and video from your iPhone or iPod via the USB port for easy file sharing.
This receiver supports an array of high resolution audio formats to offer compatibility with Blu-ray soundtracks. It can decode Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby TrueHD, DTS HD Master Audio High Resolution audio formats to create an enveloping sound field.
With pre-outs for a second zone, you can bring audio and video to a second zone of the house. It also offers dual subwoofer outs so you can experience additional low frequency effects with your favorite music and movies. And if you have other Sony BRAVIA-enabled devices, you can experience seamless interoperability with all of them along with your STR-DH820 receiver. All this AV capability is packed into a sleek black chassis that will blend into any home theater setup while offering several advanced features.
- Four HDMI and Three Component Inputs
- The STR-DH820 offers versatile HD connection options with seven high definition inputs. Four HDMI inputs (up to 1080/24p capable) let you connect a PlayStation 3 entertainment system, Blu-ray Disc player, or any 3 other HDMI-capable devices for high definition video and audio. Three component inputs (1080/60i capable) provide added HD-capable connectivity and versatility.
- 3D Pass Through via HDMI
- If you have a 3D HDTV or home theater projector, 3D Blu-ray discs and 3D glasses, the STR-DH820 can deliver wraparound visuals that will deliver a truly immersive experience, putting you right into the action of your favorite movies, games, and other 3D source materials. This receiver supports 3D over HDMI (up to 1080p resolution).
- Digital Legato Linear (D.L.L.) Processing
- Digital Legato Linear (D.L.L.) advanced sound processing technology improves audio fidelity. It improves audio performance when you're listening to internet radio stations and portable audio devices, adding warmth and clarity.
- Faroudja Edge DCDi Upscaling
- The STR-DH820 upscales analog source material up to 1080i video via HDMI with Faroudja DCDi (Directional Correlational Deinterlacing) Edge processing. This eliminates the jagginess that conventional upconverters introduce to diagonal edges in video. DCDi's unique algorithm identifies all the moving edges in a scene and adjusts the angle of interpolation at each pixel so that the interpolation always follows the edge instead of crossing it, eliminating staircasing or jagged edge artifacts.
- Dolby TrueHD, Dolby Digital Plus, DTS HD
- Dolby Digital and DTS codecs allow for immersive surround sound. The unit decodes Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital EX, Dolby Pro Logic II, Dolby Pro Logic IIx, DTS, DTS 96/24, DTS-ES Discrete/Matrix 6.1, and DTS Neo:6. It also decodes the following HD audio formats: Dolby TrueHD, Dolby Digital Plus, DTS-HD Master Audio and High-Resolution Audio.
- DTS HD Master Audio and High-Resolution Audio
- This receiver offers DTS HD Master Audio decoding technology. DTS HD Master Audio supports bitrates up to 24.5Mbps, 7.1 discrete channels of 96KHz/24-bit audio, and is ideal for HDMI version 1.3a cables. It reproduces realistic sound the way the director intended. DTS HD High-Resolution Audio also offers 7.1 discrete channels of 96KHz/24-bit audio and supports bitrates up to 6Mbps.
- Automatic Phase Matching
- Audio from the receiver is fine tuned with the help of Sony's advanced Digital Cinema Auto Calibration (D.C.A.C.) with Automatic Phase Matching and Sound Optimizer technologies.
- Second Zone Audio and Video
- This receiver is equipped with second zone pre-outputs so you can expand your audio and video sources to multiple zones of your home.
- Dual Subwoofer Pre-Outs
- Add additional bass to your musical passages and movie soundtracks, increasing the dynamic effects of your entertainment.
- Standby Pass Through of Audio and Video
- This feature allows you to access all of your HDMI connected devices without having to power on the receiver. So even when it's not on, you can take advantage of streamlined control over your devices.
- Audio Return Channel Support
- Eliminate the need for extra cables connected to your TV. Support for Audio Return Channel (ARC) allows audio to be sent from your compatible TV the STR-DH820 through the same HDMI cable already being used to send audio and video to your TV.
- Digital Cinema Auto Calibration
- This receiver is equipped with Digital Cinema Auto Calibration (D.C.A.C.) technology which allows you to perform automatic calibration. This is designed to achieve proper sound balance for your room by measuring the distance of each speaker from the seating position, speaker size, and frequency characteristics.
- Bi-Amplification
- If you are not using surround back speakers, you can connect the front speakers to the Speakers Surround Back/Bi-Amp/Front B terminals using a bi-amplifier connection.
- BRAVIA Sync Capable
- Conveniently operate and control other Sony BRAVIA Sync devices with one remote including Sony Blu-ray Disc Players, BRAVIA HDTVs, Sony home theater products, Handycam Camcorders and Cyber-shot Digital Cameras.

- Easily set up and control your STR-DH820 with an intuitive on-screen graphical user interface (GUI).
