This Ikelite 6184.81 Underwater Housing for Nikon S8100 Camera is an injection-molded clear polycarbonate case, known for its strength and corrosion-free properties. The housing offers an unobstructed view of the camera's information and control functions and operates safely to a depth of 200'. All camera functions except the rotary multi-selector dial are accessible in this housing, and most of the functions of the rotary multi-selector can be accessed through the housing using the left and right arrow buttons. Camera installation is quick and simple. Two 12-24 threaded mounts on the bottom of the housing allow for the secure attachment of optional trays and lighting accessories.
An included flash diffuser improves lighting quality when the camera's built-in flash is used. A built-in flash is effective between 1 and 3 feet (0.3-0.9m) from the subject in clear conditions. For best results an external underwater strobe is recommended. This will bring out the natural color of your subject and reduce the illumination of particles suspended in the water, known as backscatter. An optional Ikelite AutoFlash AF35 can provide additional light with easy automatic exposure. Strobes from other manufacturers can be used in manual mode. The housing is slightly negative in fresh water for stability, and handles superbly underwater.
The housing comes standard with a flat port which allows full use of the camera's zoom without vignetting. External wide-angle conversion lenses cannot be used to any advantage. For wide-angle work the housing does accept the optional Ikelite WD-4 Wide-Angle Conversion Dome Port. The conversion dome corrects for the refractive magnification of the flat port underwater to restore the camera's original angle of coverage.

While this is the first underwater case I have ever purchased, I would highly recommend it. Extremly well made, all of the buttons and dials could be used pretty easily. Seal worked perfectly, and camera took some very nice photos. I was skeptical about what I was going to get, but could not have been more pleased.
