Canon's Powershot 100 HS Digital ELPH Camera (Silver) packs a whole galaxy of features into its compact (3.67 x 2.20 x 0.78"/9.3 x 5.5 x 1.9 cm) and lightweight (4.27 oz/121 g) body--a 12.1MP CMOS high resolution sensor, 4x wide-angle 28-112mm lens (equivalent in 35mm format), and full 1920 x 1080 HD video with stereo sound, for starters.
It's also got the advanced HS system delivering clear, sharp photos with detail and nuance in low light, with high or low ISO images. Optical image stabilization keeps away the shaky pictures and video, and Smart AUTO recognizes and sets optimal exposure, shutter and focus settings for 32 predefined shooting situations. The Super Slow Motion Movie mode records video at 240fps for a very slow motion playback, and the High-Speed Burst mode allows you to shoot still photos at up to 8.2fps.
A large range of creative effects is available, including fisheye effect, miniature effect (stills and video), toy camera effect that creates a vignette similar to pinhole cameras, monochrome, super vivid, color accent, color swap (pick one color in a photo and replace that color with another of your choice), long shutter to blur moving objects for artistic effect, and many more. This ELPH is ready to serve.

Comments about Canon Powershot 100 HS Digital ELPH Camera (Silver):
I had a Powershot four years ago which gave me three years of great service with rugged use. When it went to its celestial reward I replaced it with a similar Sony product. Although the Sony was adequate, it had idiosyncracies which caused me frequent annoyance, most notably aninability to zoom in or out in video mode. Similarly the transfer cable was particularly clumsy.
Fortunately, my little Sony had two things happen in rapid succession, a dip in a toilet and a hard drop on a stone sill. Add those together and you have a fully defunct camera.
Now I'm back in familiar and welcome territory with the Powershot. And I'm remembering all of the reasons I enjoy this make; reliability, ease of use, large screen size, brite screen, full features, and first-rate video, with real-time zoom capability.
Some complain of the small controls, and I do agree with that, though a little finesse is worth it for the results this little giant delivers.
I'll be sure to keep this one away from the bathroom.

Comments about Canon Powershot 100 HS Digital ELPH Camera (Silver):
i use my canon 100HS for fun and love it because it is compact and fits anywhere! I just took some night shots of the Golden Gate bridge while in the car crossing the bridge (clearly i wasnt the one driving...) and got some great shots. i also had some great indoor shots in dark settings. im just a photographer who loves to take photos but no where near being a professional. i have been a canon fan for years and will keep on buying canon products. when i buy a SLR in the future, i'm gonna buy a canon!

Comments about Canon Powershot 100 HS Digital ELPH Camera (Silver):
1) i use this camera for police work, easy to carry and providing excellent results on my investigations and reports.
2) The greatest thing about it is, the quality of images in such compact size.
3) Not so great is that for people with big hands the camera has a slippery feel and the buttons are small.
otherwise its a great purchase.

Comments about Canon Powershot 100 HS Digital ELPH Camera (Silver):
For a basic camera for taking photos to share with family and friends I think this Cannon is a great product and great value. Picture quality is fantastic. There are a number of settings to make for more artistic shots (monochrome, toy camera, etc)
The one complaint I have is that the main control buttons are very small and close together. I have small hands and have trouble using them at times. I think it would be difficult for someone with large hands / fingers to navigate

Comments about Canon Powershot 100 HS Digital ELPH Camera (Silver):
I got this camera, because I had a Nikon S3000 that I was extremely unhappy with, because the shutter speed and the process speed (speed the camera took to process a pic after taking it, and time it took to review and delete pics) was very, very slow. I was missing some great shots, because the Nikon was so slow. So, I sold it, and grabbed the Canon. Wow, what a difference! The Canon has a much quicker shutter speed, and it process the pics after you have taken them much quicker. Pictures come out clear, and the camera feels quite solid for a little point and shoot.

I had an older model that would take blury photos without the flash. The new camera is better without the flash, but it takes pictures slower. Hopefully I can change this by adjusting a setting.

I generally shoot with a DSLR, but purchased this for taking pictures of construction sites. Right out of the box, this little guy impressed me - clean, rich photos with very little noise.

Easy to use. Compact. Used out in the field a lot for work. Holds up well under a lot of use. Don't like the fact that it takes a number of steps through the menu option to delete a picture.

I like that this camera is small.
The menu is a little confusing and if you don't have the manual with you, you can get frustrated.
Great zoom and great quality photos!

Love the size, weight, and quality of pictures and videos. The only drawback for me is a lack of viewfinder for photographing in bright light.
