Vello's FreeWave Plus Wireless Remote Shutter Release - 2.4GHz is a complete lightweight remote control outfit that provides a way to trip your camera's shutter while avoiding any possible unwanted camera movement. The FreeWave Plus works in either wired or wireless mode. This is ideal for photographing wildlife, and for macro and close-up photos or long exposures, where the slightest camera movement can ruin a picture.
With the dual function release, press halfway to focus, then press all the way to trigger the shutter. A four-second delay function makes it easy to produce self-portraits. Working on the 2.4GHz frequency gives you reduced radio interference and an extended range (up to 320' (100 m))--you don't need to have line-of-sight alignment, either, as radio waves will pass through walls, windows and floors.
This remote control will work with virtually any major brand of camera--just switch the dedicated release cable. LED indicators confirm pre-focus and exposure when in wireless mode. The FreeWave Plus is capable of multiple exposures with a single press of the trigger, and you can control the length of long exposures remotely, also.

I put the free wave in flash hot shoe and the cable goes from it to cable release on camera. I prefer to keep my little leveling devise there so I may just strap the free wave to the top of my tripod probably with a rubber band.
I am totally free to move where ever I want and it works. It seems so much more substantial than the plastic shutter release that nikon sells. It does have one of those little round batteries so I better buy some extra.

Works great. I wanted to free myself of the cord as well as be able to take shots from a distance. This met my needs, and so far I couldn't be happier. And the price seems right too.

Comments about Vello FreeWave Plus Wireless Remote Shutter Release - 2.4GHz (for Nikon):
This remote does everything in it's description, and does it very well. I took a series of family portraits with the transmitter completely hidden, and had no trouble receiving the signal at the receiver/camera end. I have not tried it at a great distance, but so far it works great. Nice that it comes with both cord/connector types so it will work with all my Nikon cameras.

Comments about Vello FreeWave Plus Wireless Remote Shutter Release - 2.4GHz (for Nikon):
I've owned several remote & wireless releases, of all the 'bargain' wireless releases I've had this is the only one that has had any durability.
Others I've tried in this price range have typically lasted about a 2/3rds of a trip. To date (2 trips) this has work flawlessly.

First off, it works as advertised. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the unit, the packaging and the fact that it comes with batteries. It is made of plastic and probably cannot be dropped from any distance and survive.
