The FreeWave Fusion Wireless Flash Trigger & Remote Control from Vello is a versatile, reliable remote control kit that will trigger off-camera flash units and studio lights from up to 300 feet away. It can be used to configure up to three different light groups, which can be triggered individually or simultaneously, for a total of seven different combinations, using its multiple groups feature. Simultaneous triggering of multiple light groups requires additional FreeWave Fusion Receivers (available separately).
The FreeWave Fusion also provides the convenience of a wireless camera shutter release, ideal for photographing wildlife, and also for macro and close-up photos or long exposures, where the slightest camera movement can ruin a picture. Working on the 2.4GHz frequency gives you reduced radio interference and an extended range (up to 320' (100 m)) - you don't need to have line-of-sight alignment, either, as radio waves will pass through walls, windows and floors.
Note!
Since the FreeWave Fusion does not transmit TTL settings, use of a flash or light unit with full manual control is recommended. You will need to set the power output manually.
The FreeWave Fusion is compatible with most cameras, flash units and studio lights. However, for flash wake-up functionality and/or high shutter speeds, you will need full Canon TTL support via your camera, flash and FreeWave Fusion trigger.

You can't go wrong with the Freewave Fusion flash triggers. I used them straight from the box for an outdoor photo session at ranges up to 150 feet - outdoors. I even tested them over a lake - no problem. They fired my Photogenic flashes every time.
Exposure was consistent and they were a snap to use, even for different groups of flashes. With several channels, I'll never be interfered with and don't have to 'slave' a flash at weddings. Other people regularly trigger slaved flashes with their cameras, and it's a pain. They can even be used to remotely trigger your camera.
I will happily recommend these to my friends.

Comments about Vello FreeWave Fusion Wireless Flash Trigger & Remote Control for Canon SLR:
This remote flash trigger works very well and appears well made. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is Vello's "rather optimistic" claims of a 100 meter (320 foot) range.
I tested the unit outside within line of sight with Canon 430EXII and 580EXII flash units. The range for reliable triggering is more like 100 feet not 320 feet! That said, you can always verify whether or not the unit will fire the attached flash by pressing the transmitter release button half way. If you see the LED on the receiver display green, the flash will fire! Using a Canon 5DMKII (or other Canon ETTL compatible camera) with the transmitter in the hot shoe, depressing the shutter release part way will also display green on the receiver LED if you are within range. This feature also wakes up the flash unit if it has gone to the sleep mode.
Note that this remote DOES NOT transmit ETTL data to the remote flashes nor does it claim to. Each remote flash must be placed in the MANUAL mode and manually set to the desired power level. For Canon, this limits use of this remote to flash units with an LCD display for power level control.
All in all, an excellent remote trigger for the price. The transmitter will control 3 groups of flashes (you need to buy additional receivers if you are using more than one flash unit). Each group can be turned on or off separately from the transmitter. The transmitter and receiver have easily accessible dip switches to permit selection of 16 differenct operating frequencies.

I got this to wirelessly fire flash or strobes, it was a bonus to remotely fire the camera. So far (2 weeks later) it works great. Because of the hotshoe I find it more versatile then a pocket wizard.

Comments about Vello FreeWave Fusion Wireless Flash Trigger & Remote Control for Canon SLR:
Received my order on time and started using it right away on my Canon 5d mkII & 580EXII flash. I had to read the manual of course, to begin. Instructions were a little vague at first, but reading slower helped. Everything works as it should and I am happy with my wireless flash trigger. I am also very glad it includes capability to use as a remote shutter release for the camera. No complaints here.

I needed a reasonably priced radio remote that works with both camera and flash and has the ability to wake EOS cameras and flashes from sleep mode - this Vello device fills my needs.
Without modification I am able to use this remote with the computer camera controller that I built for time-lapse and action stopping photography.

I wanted a reasonably priced radio control that would work with both camera and flash but also wake the camera or EOS flash from sleep mode - the Vello device does just that. Without modification I was able to use the sender with my computer controller that I built for my EOS cameras and flashes.

The remote worked as advertised, only problem I had out of the box was that the battery was dead, replaced it and was up and running. When I reported this to B&H CS they immediately issued a credit for the cost of a new battery....great customer service.

Works wonder with any flash units.
Brillant system to configure multiple lights groups. I use a large flash on a stand with cable which was always too short, this unit replace the cable wonderfully.
