Vello FreeWave Fusion Wireless Flash Trigger & Remote Control (for Select Nikon DSLRs)
The FreeWave Fusion Wireless Flash Trigger & Remote Control from Vello is a versatile, reliable remote control kit that will trigger off-camera flash units and studio lights from up to 300 feet away. It can be used to configure up to three different light groups, which can be triggered individually or simultaneously, for a total of seven different combinations, using its multiple groups feature. Simultaneous triggering of multiple light groups requires additional FreeWave Fusion Receivers (available separately).
The FreeWave Fusion also provides the convenience of a wireless camera shutter release, ideal for photographing wildlife, and also for macro and close-up photos or long exposures, where the slightest camera movement can ruin a picture. Working on the 2.4GHz frequency gives you reduced radio interference and an extended range (up to 320' (100 m)) - you don't need to have line-of-sight alignment, either, as radio waves will pass through walls, windows and floors.
Note!
Since the FreeWave Fusion does not transmit TTL settings, use of a flash or light unit with full manual control is recommended. You will need to set the power output manually.
The FreeWave Fusion is compatible with most cameras, flash units and studio lights. However, for flash wake-up functionality and/or high shutter speeds, you will need full Nikon TTL support via your camera, flash and FreeWave Fusion trigger.

Simply depress the trigger button on the transmitter half-way to pull the flash out of "sleep-mode". Sleep mode allows the flash to power down in between shooting sessions to extend battery life. The wake-up function is only available when used as part of a complete Nikon TTL system.
Note! If your flash does not have a wake-up function, you may be able to turn off sleep mode. Refer to your flash's manual for instructions.

I really could not think of any reason not to give this 5 stars. Works as it is supposed to. Quality is good. Price is affordable and is a value compared to others brands available. I also purchased a couple more of the receivers. This is the best way to trigger studio flash units, as many pass a lot of current through to the camera and can actually fry your camera. This eliminates that all together. For location shoots, this is indispensable. I typically use multiple flash units on location and this trigger system works great. I use a receiver on each of my three Nikon SB800s. You loose TTL - but so what.

This works as a remote and also a remote flash trigger. Can be expanded to accommodate 3 remote flashes. Has a great range and you can control without needing line-of-sight (a huge plus if you intend to be in the photos as well).

This was purchased for using my flash off camera outdoors. It works great for that purpose. There was an unexpected added bonus in that it can trigger my D90 remotely as well. I can see that being very useful for capturing closeups of wildlife or also for being in group shots when the IR remote trigger can't be used due to ambient light. Very cool device

This product didn't work for what I needed to do so I returned it. However, if you want to trigger multiple flashes away from your camera without having a flash on the camera, this is a really slick system. You have to put the transmitter into the hot shoe on the camera (I returned it because I need my speedlight on the camera)and you can fire remote flashes. You can also use this device to remotely trigger the camera - i.e. macro shots or if you are in the shot.

At present I only need it for a remote shutter trigger. Works just as advertised. I am already getting better photos when using my 500MM lens, no more hand shake induced slightly blurry photos.

I USE THIS UNIT ON A NIKON D7000 WITH A CAMERA BRACKET, AND A METZ FLASH. THE UNIT IT VERY LIGHT AND COMPACT. THE UNIT WAS DEDICATED TO NIKON CAMERAS, AND ALL CAMERA FUNCTIONS WORK PROPERLY. THE SETUP WAS VERY EASY. IT COMES WITH EVERY TYPE OF CORD IN CASE YOU WANT TO USE STUDIO LIGHTS OR REMOTE CONTROL, ETC. THE UNIT APPEARS TO BE VERY WELL BUILT. IT'S NICE TO HAVE NO WIRES GOING TO YOUR BACKET. THE UNIT IS SO LIGHT YOU DON'T REALIZE IT'S ON THE CAMERA. WELL WORTH THE MONEY. I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS UNIT.
