The Manfrotto 057 4-Section Carbon Fiber Tripod w/ Geared Column is a heavy-duty tripod that's intended for use with video cameras and large still cameras. With a 26.5 lb load capacity, the lightweight carbon fiber leg tubes of the 057 tripod provide rigid support even under a considerable amount of weight.
The tripod's geared center column provides maximum precision when you're setting the camera position. The column has a non-rotating, three-faceted design for increased system stability. You can unscrew the center-post collar, remove the center column, and attach the collar directly to the included low-angle adapter (through the chassis) to enable extremely low-angle shooting. With this method the 057 tripod can achieve a minimum height of 9.1".
The round carbon fiber legs feature user-adjustable flip locks to free and secure the leg stages. An included key for tightening the flip locks attaches to a leg for ever-ready access. With both the legs and the center column fully extended, the tripod reaches an extremely tall maximum height of 80.7".

Comments about Manfrotto 057 4-Section Carbon Fiber Tripod w/ Geared Column:
057 4-Section Carbon Fiber Tripod w/ Geared Column Like Most of the top of the line tripods i know for the money it would be nice to have a bag for the investment. This is why i rated a four. The Manfrotto tripod with it quick release levers are in my opinion much easier and safer to use. When using a high powered zoom lens i have a difficult time placing such a lens and not being able to see immediately that all the legs are locked. Manfrotto has this as this is my second of this brand and i also have two Giztso and while using those as a macro shot or a landscape using them for wild life or sports where the action changes quickly i have found the flip lever to suite my needs and safely protect my investment. This tripod is as solid as a rock even the geared column even when unlocked still is tight yet easily maneuverable. The shots i have achieved even on a windy day have been impressive.i would have liked a three section leg at the same height but i can use the fourth closed up for standard height shooting as i'm 6'2" and use the fourth extension for uneven ground or shooting flying birds and air shows. This tripod fits all the uses i hoped it would. workman ship and design are exceptional and i would highly recommend this tripod

Comments about Manfrotto 057 4-Section Carbon Fiber Tripod w/ Geared Column:
I use this tripod with a EOS 1Ds MII and mostly Canon L glass which is all fairly heavy stuff. It's topped off with the 327 joystick head which, with the height of the tripod allows me to position for great composition even on a hillside. I'm 6'3" so I needed the extra tripod height to add the fleibility. A little heavier than expected with all the carbon fiber but turns out it's right on target to be stable enough for shutter vibrations and not so heavy I cannot take it with me. this is an expensive tripod but I'm very happy with it.
