The Cyclopital3D Macro/Close-Up Adapter for Fuji W3 3D Camera lets you capture detailed images of subjects as close as 12" to the camera. Now you can expand the capabilities of your camera by adding macro images to your already exciting 3D photography. By attaching an auxiliary close-up lens of your choice to this adapter, you'll be able to move even closer for recording flowers, insects etc. mere inches from the camera.
Without this adapter, 3D macro shots would be difficult or uncomfortable to view because of the increased parallax when you move closer to the subject. Utilizing perfectly aligned high quality mirrors, this adapter reduces the stereo base of the camera to 25mm which lets you get 3x closer to your subject while still maintaining an acceptable level of parallax. Another benefit of this adapter is that it increases the common image seen by both lenses, which reduces the amount of image loss common to 3D macro photography.
You can also use this adapter to attach other add-on items such as ring flash filters, and lens shades. There's also a hot shoe mount on this adapter for attaching an auxiliary flash unit to the camera. A PC connector on the adapter, compatible with most PC flashes, enables off-camera flash firing. This adapter also provides a sturdy grip for the camera and has anchors for attaching a 3/8" carrying strap to the adapter. There's also a bottom screw mount for attaching the adapter to a tripod.

Comments about Cyclopital3D Macro/Close-Up Adapter for Fuji W3 3D Camera:
I got my adapter a couple weeks ago and have been using it non-stop. I have been a 3D photographer for 15 years, but this is the first easy macro setup I've owned. In fact, it was because this attachment was available that I purchased a W3.
Note that if you own a W1, this adapter will not fit, but I know Cyclopital3D makes one.
I have been using the product almost exclusively to take portraits of my cats. I also plan to shoot flowers once spring does its thing. The cat portraits are stunning. I use a pocket wizard mounted on top of the adapter and hold a flash unit out to the side. My Nikon flash has a wide range of adjustments, and with the instant feedback of digital, it's easy to dial in the right amount of flash.
The things I love about the unit are:
1. The hot shoe! (The adapter uses an optical slave to send a signal to the hot shoe. The adapter completely covers the on-camera flash so you only get the flash you want.) The W3 does not have a hot shoe. This is the reason to get it. And the hot shoe is angled down slightly for top mounted flash.
2. It uses front surface mirrors to make the lens separation about 1 inch apart opposed to the normal 3 inch separation.
3. It comes with a UV filter to protect the mirrors, and has 72 mm threads to attach an additional close up lens.
4. The form gives you a handle to hold the unit. This is a real plus.
Some notes on the unit:
- the normal way to turn the camera on and off is by sliding the lens cover. But the camera doesn't fit into the unit unless the lens cover is open. this had me scratching my head until I realized you can also turn on the camera by pressing the play button and activate the camera with a half press of the shutter.
- the camera needs to be in full zoom to use the unit (otherwise you see the mirrors).
- the camera should be in macro mode
- in my situation I'm shooting moving targets (cats) so I need to hold my flash in one hand and the camera in the other. The unit gives you a good grip on the camera for one-handed operation.
- since the macro unit is why I bought the camera, I leave the camera attached all the time, and turn it on and off with the play button.
And one note on the camera - it doesn't have an optical viewfinder, so you can't turn off the display (which is beautiful). But you'll want extra batteries.
I am an off-camera flash devotee, a strobist believer, and I am having a blast with this product!

Comments about Cyclopital3D Macro/Close-Up Adapter for Fuji W3 3D Camera:
You can't expect one camera, even a 3-D camera, to be able to do everything without some accessories. In the case of 3-D, having the right and left lenses 75mm apart from each other limits how close you can get for 3-D. Even though the lenses will individually focus closer, because they cannot converge on a close up object like your eyes do, closeups are not possible, or end up having a lot of eyestrain to view.
The Cyclopital3D Close-up adapter uses perfectly aligned high quality mirrors to effectively reduce the effective lens separation of the Fuji W3 to 25mm. This allows you to get 3X closer to your subject without and have comfortable viewing of the image. It makes it possible to take 3-D close-ups that would otherwise not be possible with the Fuji W3.

Comments about Cyclopital3D Macro/Close-Up Adapter for Fuji W3 3D Camera:
The Cyclopital 3D adapters for the Fuji real 3D W1 or W3 is a lightweight, easy to use device for taking a 3D image of small things from flowers, insects, pets, or anything you want a close up image of.
You just slide down the lens cover on the Fuji W1 or W3, drop the camera into the adapter, use the screw knob on the bottom to secure it into the adapter, zoom out and your ready to go.
It will accept 72 mm close up lenses, hoods and filters for a even closer image or for special effects.
There is even a 'hot shoe' mount and trigger for external flash
I have been using mine for about a month but it's winter so my subject matter is limited but wait until spring!

Cyclopital provides a Macro attachment for taking closeups with a Fuji W1 or Fuji W3 camera. (Be sure to specifiy which camera.) The camera is easily attached to the Macro device (a thumbscrew into the tripod socket). 72mm plus closeup lenses can be added for ultra closeups.

Comments about Cyclopital3D Macro/Close-Up Adapter for Fuji W3 3D Camera:
The Cyclopital3D Macro adapter is well made and allows the user to take 3D macro images using the Fuji W3 3D camera. The adapter has a hot shoe to attach an external electronic flash. I have purchased this adapter and found it to be a high quality item and well worth the price. If you add PLUS filters to the adapter it will allow you to get even closer to the object.
