Been using this for about two weeks now. Makes lighting a lot more natural for portrait photos and anything else really. I also shot some skaters doing tricks and was excellent at exposing the subject very well. Though, after a lot of usage the recyling time slows down. Maybe it's the brand of batteries I'm using. But overall, a great flash. (Used it on my 550D)

I normally use a Canon Speedlite 430EX with my G12 and my Rebel XSI. Often, I use a Canon STE2 wireless transmitter and hand-hold the flash of to the side for better portrait effects. The Speedlite 430 is rather large for the G12, so I bought the Speedlite 270EX II. I waited for the "II" model, because it works with Canon wireless transmission. It does indeed work with the STE2, even though few sites inform you of this; that's a big plus. However, I found (with the G12) that doing so isn't bright enough, and seems to throw the focusing off. It's fine for straight on shooting, but I also found it weak when using it as a bounce flash (even with white ceilings/walls). That's why I gave it 3 stars instead of 4. Otherwise, it's a nice compact unit that only uses 2 AA batteries and saves on the camera's battery not using the built-in flash.

Comments about Canon Speedlite 270EX II:
I already owned the 580EX II but I bought it to be used in my 60D, thinking on something light that could provide better results that the in-built flash. I hit it!
This flash performs fantastic for most of the applications when you need flash light from dim light environments to fill flash in a very light package.
I included the diffuser to minimize any harsh light on subjects and red eye in not longer an issue.

Comments about Canon Speedlite 270EX II:
I bought this flash gun to use with my Canon G12 as my Speedlite 580EX II was too heavy and made the camera tip forward. This unit solves both problems perfectly; it is light and balances well with the camera.
Output is reduced compared with the 580 but more than enough for the G12. If I need any more light then I will use my Canon EOS camera with a larger flash head.

I carry this flash for my 5DII all the time. It has more power then the built in flashes. The head can be tilted to do the bounceflash as well.
Everything is perfect just the price is a little higher.

Comments about Canon Speedlite 270EX II:
Purchased this unit when my built-in camera flash didn't work well as the master for a pair of umbrella flash units- it created shadowing and some red-eye issues. The tilt head feature of this compact little unit eliminated those issues. For my next shoot it saved me alot of time in postprocessing. Well worth the price for that alone! Found myself carrying this handy little flash whenever I wanted to travel light and bounce alittle fill flash off a ceiling or take some shadows out of an outdoor portrait. Works great on any Canon Digital SLR and exceeds the capabilities of built-in camera flashes.

I needed more light to capture better images during night photography. This unit is very portable and coupled with the OM-EV diffuser, the images turns out great. The tilt function works well and would recommend it to the casual user.

This flash is great. I have never shot with a professional flash until purchasing this one. I used the feature to rotate the light direction to do a bounce and the photos have the a studio quality appearance. I would recommend this to any body that need to learn the basics of flash photography.

As said in the title this is the best choice I could find for my Canon G12. My Sigma Flash is too big and clumsy onthe G12

Comments about Canon Speedlite 270EX II:
The Speedlite 270EX II works good for what it is. I have a Canon 5D which does not have a built in flash and wanted something that fills that roll. The 270EX II is small, ease to use and fills the roll of a built in flash just fine. It works better than the built in flash that was on my 50D. If you want to own just one flash or if your camera has a built in flash you should step up to the next level. This is a great little flash unit but don't think of it as much more than the flash that is built into most cameras.

I bought this item for my canon T2i. I needed a flash that I could carry all the time, easy to use, powerful enough, and the most important lightweight. This item filled up my perspectives. I would recommend this flash without a doubt.

Comments about Canon Speedlite 270EX II:
We did not want to go with the bigger speedlight but we were worried that we would not have enough.
This gives a softer light by redirecting.
Good middle of the road for us non professionals, but serious photographers who are on a budget.

Good flash for it's size. Light weight, small enough to fit in a small camera bag, and good output for it's size. All in all, a good little flash.

Comments about Canon Speedlite 270EX II:
I am very excited about my new speedlite 270EX II! It was very easy to get started with it, even for a newbie like me. I was always having trouble with taking pictures in my house (colour cast with my beige walls, and those annoying shadows behind everyone's heads) - I am still experimenting, but the flash seems to be making a difference. I notice the colours are a lot truer. I have found that you can't take rapid fire sequences of pictures with it, which I like to do when photographing my kids - have to be aware of that.

This makes a great fill light for my 5D. It also works well for most ordinary on camera flash shooting. The ability to swivel the head for bounce is nice. All in all a nice very compact unit.

I bought this flash for macro photography with a Canon G12. It works perfectly for that purpose, mounted on a flash bracket.
