Canon's Speedlite 320EX is a versatile flash that includes an LED light on the front that can be used as a modeling light, an AF assist beam during Live View shooting, or to light up nearby subjects in low light for video recording. It will provide up to 4 hours of continuous lighting with fully-charged AA batteries. The 320EX is E-TTL- and E-TTL II-compatible using Type-A EOS cameras, and it has a guide number of 78.7'/24m @100 ISO at 24mm.
Vertical and horizontal bounce capability gives you more lighting options, as does the Wireless Slave function that supports 3 groups and 4 channels, allowing the flash to be used off camera. You can vary the flash coverage and guide number by manually extending or retracting the flash head, using the Normal or Tele positions. The 320EX operates on widely available AA batteries. Batteries are not included.

Flash is powerful and compares to higher end models in recovery and power.
The LED is exceptionally bright and is also a good powerful source for its size and price. Very convenient if you plan on switching from Still to Video or as a modeling light. Battery life seems to be excellent. Controls are limited but also add to the ease of use and forces me to use the camera to adjust Flash Exposure Compensation, which is a better practice anyway. I also tried it as a slave using a 580EX on camera and had no issues.
They use a new locking mechanism which works better than the previous dial models that would loosen up after a while.
Limitations you should be aware of. This flash does not have a power input for using with a battery pack. It also has two modes. Wide and Telephoto through the use of manually pulling the flash head in and out.

For the price I just couldn't help giving this speedlite a try. I was really curious how good the LED would be for video with my 5D. I'm going to stick with my typical lighting... except for in a pinch maybe. A little under powered all around, for a speedlite, but I am accustomed to my 580EX's and 580 EX II's.
My biggest issue is that you need to pull out the flash head for zoom flash. I'm not impressed with that at all.
Although it cannot be used on the hotshoe as a Master to trigger other speedlites, it can be used to trigger compatible cameras. Kind of neat if you're experimenting with your lighting. Using the camera's timer function, there's a 2 or 10 second delay from when you point the flash at your camera and fire; giving you time to position the 320EX. So, if you *do* have another flash mounted to your hotshoe, and it is set to Master it will fire as well.
Personally, for my needs, I've resigned myself to the fact that is is a speedlite that I will only use as a slave.
Certainly not complicated, easy-to-use and much cheaper than other Canon speedlites. Suitable for an entry-level flash.

Comments about Canon Speedlite 320EX:
Used this at a recent wedding (as a guest). It works well.
To soften the light, I cut a strip of plastic from a gallon plastic milk jug, immersed the plastic in very hot water and bent it to form a loop in front of the flash. Used rubber bands to secure it to the head. Tilted up in bounce mode, it lit subjects nicely.
Have yet to use the wireless mode. Can't wait though.

I bought this for my T3i and enjoy it. I use with a Stroboframe on a graphite monopod and is a great setup. I am a semi-pro event photographer and bought because I also shoot video where the LED light comes in as a perfect addtion. At a heavy click event, I did go through a bunch of batteries.

Comments about Canon Speedlite 320EX:
I am happy with my purchase of the Speedlight 320EX. That said I have yet to really use it to its full capabilities. I use it on my 7D and have shot mainly a bunch of evening portrait stuff. I was really impressed when I tried shotting video with the LED light! It's by no means a stand alone sour e of light for all recording conditions but works great in a pinch and better than what you would expect from something so tiny. Wanted a versatile/compact flash for photo/video and that's what I got.
My only beef is as far as I can tell there is no way to manually fire the flash.

I'm only now just a novice photographer, but I feel like a pro after buying this flash to use with my also recently purchased 60D. I'm going to use the flash with the weddings I booked this spring and I have no doubt the flash will produce wonderful results.
The 320EX has been very impressive with the fashion and glamour pictures I've been taking. The light gives a beautiful color and a softness to skin tones. Its easy to use and very light. The price was right with all the many features it has. Put the camera in apeture priority mode and the flash does the rest. How easy is that!

This is truly an awesome flash. Out of the box you can slap in on your camera & start snapping beautiful images that were once impossible to capture without it. I use it with my Canon Rebel T3i and it works flawlessly and exceeds any expectation. I was sort of surprised at how big it is, but that comes with having so many functions and such power and it is very well built. Still, it doesn't add much weight at all. And I love the fact that I can bounce the flash in almost any direction; this is invaluable, as all I do is BOUNCE!!! Bounce of the walls, bounce off the ceiling ...

Comments about Canon Speedlite 320EX:
This flash is more of a convenience for me. If I choose to alternate between photos and videos with my T3i, I don't have to switch flashes.
It works out since I generally will use two cameras - one with the Canon Speedlite 320EX and the other one with the stronger and faster Canon Speedlite 580EX II.
If for some reason I need to take still photos with the camera I use for video, the Canon Speedlite 320EX does its job, too. Again, it's more of a convenience for me if I choose to alternate between photo and video.
There are times I'll be shooting video on a tripod with the LED light on the 320EX on at the same time I'm shooting photos with the other camera. The 580EX II is great for photos, but doesn't do anything for videos.
I must say that the LED light isn't that bright. It works for filming events/items/people up close. For anything farther than about 3-5 feet, it's like a weak spotlight.

Comments about Canon Speedlite 320EX:
I shopped long and hard for this flash and it delivers! It's a little heavier than I'd like, especially when used with my zoom lens, but the lighting it provides is dead on. I've even used the continuous LED functionality when video-ing. I was pleasantly surprised at how quickly it arrived, too!

I'm not a professional photographer but love to use an external flash when there is no light or natural light is not good.
I believe this model is suitable for amateur photographers who want to get more of the images they shoot.
I had the Flash connected to Canon SX40HS. And after a month of shooting I can say that a great product!
Fast load time. Rotating head. Light weight of 9.7 oz. And is not as big as the big brother in the series.
The LED light is not extremely bright but performing properly in video mode.

Greatly improved the usable range of our G9 indoors. The LED front light is very useful for lighting dark areas for composition purposes. Mandatory for use with Tele and Wide angle converters. B & H had the best price when combined with shipping to Canada.

Comments about Canon Speedlite 320EX:
Far more versatile than your pop-up flash. Once you try this, you will never be satisfied with your camera's built-in flash. The video light is geat for use on dslr's that have a movie-mode, and can supply light when flash isn't wanted. With the 7D, this flash can sync to 1/8000th of a second, and can function as off-camera flash, controlled by the camera. There are no manual controls on the camera, so it is not as functional as the 580, but it is less than half the cost.

I bought this to replace an old 420ex speedlite. That light has served me well for over 12 years, right up to when I dropped it on concrete. Tried to have it repaired but no luck. Since it was more than 10 years old, parts were no longer available.
The 320ex is also a very good light. Although it has doesn't have auto zooming or quite as much light as my old flash, it still does an excellent job. Works very well with my EOS 7d and my older film Canons, both as main flash and wireless slave. The LED light is also useful.
