I bought this as a replacement when I don't want to carry the bulky Nikon D300 DSLR, but want better picture than pocket size point and shoot.Pros: Long zoom, HD videoThis camera takes excellent outdoor pictures where light is abundant. Outdoor pictures are bright and crisp. Zoom is clear but the camera auto-focus point seems to be in the background rather than the foreground. What that means is if I take a picture of you standing in front of a tree from afar, the tree will be more clear than you in photo. But you won't notice these minor differences if you only develop 4x6 or 5x7 photos.HD video image is satisfactory, zoom is very slow at video recording mode. Image stabilization can't compare to a dedicated hand-held camcorder, but the recording quality is good enough for me since I don't have to carry an extra recording device.CONS: A lot of presets with no manual control. Nikon created many shooting scenarios presets and forced you to pick. You can change ISO setting but you can NOT choose a different shutter speed. There would be no problem if the presets work as described, but they don't.This camera is impossible to take an indoor photo on people.- Day time photos of wife sitting next to the window under sunlight while reading a book - FUZZY.- Day time photos of friends inside a restaurant having lunch - FUZZY.- Day time photos of kids at birthday party blowing candles, singing songs, etc - FUZZY.- Night time photos of family sitting on a couch with all room lights turn on - FUZZY.I have tried these with every available presets such as Portrait Mode, SPORT MODE, AUTO Mode with various ISO settings under flash and no-flash. I use my new camera to take pictures of family, friends, and pets, in both indoor and outdoor settings.
The camera takes beautiful pictures, which was expected, but I have never had a camera this nice before.
When I opened the package to find that the body and lens had a few scuffs and scratches, I was kind of disappointed. After I turned the camera on to test it, I realize those marks didn't matter. It works perfectly!

I ordered refurbished. When i received the camera and turned it on, it just kept trying to auto focus and the screen just flashed "Remove Lens Cap" I never even put on the lens cap so I was quite disappointed. Customer service at B&H was great though. I hope the replacement they send works correctly!

I've only owned the Nikon Coolpix L120 for two weeks now and so far I really like it. This is only my second Nikon that I've ever owned. The first was a Nikon SLR I had back in the 80's that I really liked. The camera is very easy to use and it takes great pictures. Even though the manual is in PDF format I own a printer that can print out in duplex mode, which means I can print out the entire manual with half the paper. I recommend reading the manual as it has a lot of information on how to use the different scene modes. I thought it was great that the camera came with 4 Energizer Lithium batteries. These are the best type of batteries that you can use as they will last a very long time.

This is a great point and shoot. Whie I wish it had a manual operation, the scenes it has to choose from are so extensive that you can find one to match nearly any setting. This camera takes great photographs, and is very user friendly. The refurb is "like new"....really it IS new. Can't tell any difference in outer appearance or operation...well worth the extra savings!!

This has the look and feel of the old standard 35mm SLR camera. Not at all like my previous pocket camera. Nikon quality. Simple auto shoot settings or an intuitive complex shoot menu. This camera is a Christmas gift upgrade for me from a 6Mp camera. I shoot stills and landscapes and so far have been extremely happy with the performance. It has a wide range for telephoto AND is lightweight and easy to use.
The only thing I find to be a little annoying is the auto-focus doesn't keep up/adjust near as fast as I thought it would.

Comments about Nikon Coolpix L120 Digital Camera (Black):
I wanted to upgrade to this camera from an older Canon digital camera that lacked most of the features offered by the L120. The L120 offers fantastic telephoto and wide angle capabilities and good motion capture. I like all of the features such as "red eye" correction and other photographic effecs. The only think that could have been better was the power source - it uses normal AA batteries and I would have preferred rechargeable lithion ion batteries, but for the price that is not a major consideration.
