The Iomega 1.5TB SuperSpeed USB 3.0 eGo Portable Hard Drive (Ruby Red) is a stellar storage solution for carrying a large amount files with you wherever you go. The drive offers a storage capacity of 1.5TB and blazing transfer speeds up to 5 Gbps with its USB 3.0 interface. That interface is also backwards compatible with USB 2.0 ports and powers your drive, so you don't need to bring a separate power cable when you use the drive.
Being so compact and portable, the drive features the Iomega Power Grip band and Drop Guard Xtreme, the latter of which protects the drive from drops up to 7 ft. For security, Iomega includes their downloadable Protection Software Suite and built-in AES 256-bit hardware encryption (PC only). There's also a Password Protect feature to keep entire folders safe. Ideal for quickly uploading and storing large files like movies, videos, and photos, the eGO Portable Hard Drive is a secure, no-fuss solution for your on-the-go storage needs.

After I started to buy songs from iTunes I realized that the biggest problem that confronted me is space. I do not want to mess up with my 320GB space on my laptop as it is meant for serious work. So I thought its time to give an entry into the portable hard drive market.
I realized that the simple plug and play device, the Iomega eGo portable hard drive comes with no complications. Its design is simple and is easy to operate and does not require any technical expertise. Now the Ruby Red eGo portable drive decorates my desk. It is quiet and you hardly realize it is running. With no noise and heat I find this device absolutely enterprising.

I have bought this product about a month ago.
There are so many things that I like about it and that exceeded my expectations: it's compact and portable, huge amount of storage (I have already downloaded the files from both my computers), great speed and as an extra bonus the outer protection it comes with.

The USB 3.0 speed is so much faster than 2.0!
I like how the hard drive is protected, but it does get a little heavy. The cable that came with it connects into a 3.0 USB slot, and is extended with a 2.0 connector as well. It is a little bit loud. Overall great product!

I bought this drive from BH few months back. I got a good deal for the drive which was a deciding point for me.Portability : This drive is considerably small for a 1.5TB capacity. Of course it wont fit your pockets. But still portability is nice for me.Speed and storage: It works very fast as it has USB 3 connection. And storage wise 1.5TB is nice.Heating and Noise: This drive is not quite the stealth type. But it wont wake you up from sleep. Heating is not an issue, but it gets a little warm after light usage. But maintains that temp afterwards.Other problems:As you know everyone is mentioning about CD drive emulations stuff which IOMEGA did and which can not be removed. But you can learn to live with it. Support and customer care: Iomega customer care is not what I would prefer to talk to. Plus their policies are weird you have to buy their protection plan, and even after that i was told that i would have to pay the shipping IOMEGA wont be taking care of that. And one more thing to be kept in mind is. After they replace your hdd 99% you would be getting a refurbished one. So my suggestion is buy it only if you are going to use it very lightly. And wont be kept connected continuously. Everything else works nice. So far no problems Touch wood!!!

This is an outstanding device and has alot of storage. I use it to back up my important files and download movies, photos, and important documents. The software that came with it is useful as well although I did not use it because I already had simular programs on my laptop. I only regret is that I did not order the Iomega case for this drive however that is on the way as I write this review. But with that said One can not go wrong by getting one of these amazing drives.
