The 2TB (2x1TB) StorCenter ix2-200 Network Storage, Cloud Edition from Iomega is a powerful and versatile network storage device with a plethora of enhanced online connectivity features. The spacious hard drive connects to your home network via a Gigabit Ethernet connector and works to bridge the gap between local and online storage -- which is also known as cloud storage.
The ix2-200 is a dual-drive system, and can be configured as a RAID 1 or JBOD. The RAID 1 configuration mirrors data to both physical disks. This halves the available storage capacity, but ensures that no data will be lost if either disk fails. If you need the full 2TB of storage that this drive is capable of, you should configure it as a JBOD. In this mode, your computer will see each physical disk as a separate volume.
You can configure the drive to automatically upload files stored within specified folders to Facebook, YouTube, and Flickr. Its remote data access feature allows you to access your data when you are away from home -- all you need is an Internet connection. You can also invite friends and family to view specific files or folders stored on the drive -- a great way for you to share family snapshots and vacation photos with relatives who think that Twitter is a little yellow cartoon bird who is constantly harassed by "puddy tats."
When you are at home, you'll be happy to know that the drive can stream multimedia files to UPnP/DLNA devices. This includes game consoles like the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Apple TV owners will be happy to know that the device has a built-in iTunes server. The Home Media drive also has a built-in BitTorrent downloader, which can grab files from the Internet -- even when your computer is off.
If you are in need of a network backup solution, it should comes as no surprise that this Swiss Army knife of a drive does that too. It can backup all of the computers in your network, and is also compatible with online backup services like Mozy Pro and Amazon S3. Mac users will be able to perform network backups to the drive via Time Machine.
Photographers will be able to download photos from a digital camera to the drive via USB. You can also set the drive to downsize and watermark your photos, perfect for those who wish to share their work online -- but don't want to see it stolen and reproduced without permission. The USB port can also be used to connect an external hard drive -- giving you more room to store files -- or to connect a printer -- making it easy to print from any computer in your network. Users who use Axis IP security cameras will be happy to know that the StorCenter ix2 can act as a server for up to five of them.

I purchased this unit to provide shared storage in a Vmware ESXi5 environment. I am an engineer and I've built a small Vmware lab using this device to continue my education. I use it to serve out ISCSi disks and NFS. It flat does the job and is simple to install. The written instructions are provided in many different languages, but not much detail as far as setup instructions, however, the online help will get you going with no problem. I recommend this product. It's also an EMC product, a well known storage company.

It's a great product looking at spec, has good management software, interesting features like personal cloud, torrent management (I don't need to left my computer running, the storage itself downloads and stores my torrents) and great construction. In the real world this product is very noisy, sometimes it seems that something is breaking inside, to configure torrent management was a bit difficulty and I have little information from download, just the number of seeders, speed and remaining time to finish. I was expecting something like utorrent gui. The fan is not working and since I live in Brazil I'm in trouble, looking at iomega web site they don't offer support in South America, probably is a silly thing to fix but the main reason to buy a storage server IMHO is reliability and I'm afraid that is not the case of this server.

Comments about Iomega 2TB (2x1TB) StorCenter ix2-200 Network Storage, Cloud Edition:
Being in the networking industry I get my hands on a range of NAS devices and I have noticed that the StorCenter ix2-200 is the best in the category and that too at this price range. I have set this NAS up for my home network, I appreciate the administration of the GUI of the NAS. I can say the NAS is not just powerful but completely functional as well. The GUI is intuitive and looks wonderful.
The ix2-200 does not confuse you in anyway with cryptic message but everything about the device is straight forward. The UPnP works great and the ix2-200 showed immediately on my LG bluray player. I was able to stream videos from the NAS without a glitch.
Comments about Iomega 2TB (2x1TB) StorCenter ix2-200 Network Storage, Cloud Edition:
A comprehensive 2 TB NAS device with excellent performance and navigation facility had made this one of my favorite NAS device I have used so far.The StorCenter ix2-200 network storage device comes with 2TB disks that can be conveniently removed incase of a disk failure. It has been a year and I have never experienced any disk snags. The NAS is not just for starters but for power users as well. Though it is meant for small business environment it can provide block level access using iSCSI targets.

Comments about Iomega 2TB (2x1TB) StorCenter ix2-200 Network Storage, Cloud Edition:
Initially I was annoyed with the StorCenter ix2-200 network storage device as it did not live up to my expectations when it comes to read/write speed. I was upset that I made a wrong choice. It was then that my friend suggested that I change to a faster network. I tried this and it finally worked. Now I am able to transfer files at a great speed.
When I spoke to the customer care center they suggested that I turn off media server for better performance. Guess what it worked!!! It was my network issue all along.
Comments about Iomega 2TB (2x1TB) StorCenter ix2-200 Network Storage, Cloud Edition:
The NAS device does not make any noise while running and has a host of SMB features to boast of, like iSCSI, event logs, email notifications, video surveillance as well as USB printer support. Torrent downloading and remote access are some of the other features. This is a cool device, I will recommend to all.

Comments about Iomega 2TB (2x1TB) StorCenter ix2-200 Network Storage, Cloud Edition:
We needed a solid network storage device that would allow us to give our clients the option to download video files from our location to their off-site location. With the installation of an app on their end, our clients were able to do just that. It even works with another storage device, such as a flash drive or portable hard drive, attached to this device.
Comments about Iomega 2TB (2x1TB) StorCenter ix2-200 Network Storage, Cloud Edition:
I would say the Iomega StorCenter ix2-200 network storage device is small and quite fast. It is loaded with features that will surprise you. Multiple RAID support was amazing. I configured my ix2-200 for RAID 0 that comes with the ability to use multiple drive heads whereby my NAS device can read and write data at the same time. RAID 0 is definitely a speed solution.
Instead of spending money recreating the data you have lost during an accident or a disk crash opt for StorCenter ix2-200 and get rid of the fear of losing data. As RAID ensures data redundancy which means my data is secure. The ix2-200 is definitely reliable backup machine money can buy.
Comments about Iomega 2TB (2x1TB) StorCenter ix2-200 Network Storage, Cloud Edition:
Though an entry level NAS server the Iomega StorCenter ix2-200 caters to my small office well. The device comes with enterprise rich features. The iSCSI support of the ix2-200 was useful to me. The NAS device was approved for VMware's vSphere. The need for share network storage for my small office was satisfied to the core by the Iomega StorCenter ix2-200 NAS device. The web based administrative interface is easy to understand and was the reason for the quick configuration of my ix2-200. There are two hard drives in the ix2 but they are not hot swappable.
Removing the drives is very easy as there are two screws that sled the drives in place and once they are removed the drive can be slid out.

Comments about Iomega 2TB (2x1TB) StorCenter ix2-200 Network Storage, Cloud Edition:
The ix2-200 is an excellent product, packed with features, and provides an excellent value for the money. This is the second unit I purchased in the past 2 years, they are extremely reliable, fast (Gigabit Ethernet) and easy to manage.
Comments about Iomega 2TB (2x1TB) StorCenter ix2-200 Network Storage, Cloud Edition:
The two reasons I bought the Iomega StorCenter ix2-200 network storage device is because of its enhanced storage option and security. I have connected the device to four other machines that are interconnected with a router. One problem that I encountered was strange. Whenever I activate the security I am not able to access users but when the security is turned off everything works fine. I was stuck as I did not want to work without enabling the security and hence I called Iomega call centre.
The executive who attended to me was smart enough to rectify the issue. He asked me for the error code and asked me to put the commands in a batch file so that my machines are connected even with the security on. The support staff made my day!

Comments about Iomega 2TB (2x1TB) StorCenter ix2-200 Network Storage, Cloud Edition:
Great Nas for the money, easy to set up, and at 1TB in RAID 1 plenty on space to save and protect photos and documents. Music on NAS is easly accesed with Itunes or WIN media player from any computer on the network.Saw reports that the cooling fan was load but i have NOT seen this Fan noise is low on my unit. Have not used the Cloud function.
Comments about Iomega 2TB (2x1TB) StorCenter ix2-200 Network Storage, Cloud Edition:
The StorCenter ix2-200d is not a full blown network storage array and hence it concentrates mostly on the SAN side. Once I enabled the device for iSCSI all that is needed is to ping the device to your network. My focus was just on VSphere and its related tools so all that I was supposed to do was not to worry about conflict issues as once the ix2 starts running any problem can be tapped on the ESX side of the house.
Though Iomega has many other NAS products lined up, I chose the ix2-200d for its simplicity. The setup is easy which is normally not seen in network storage business market. The device is compliant with green norms as the device spins down when not in use.
Comments about Iomega 2TB (2x1TB) StorCenter ix2-200 Network Storage, Cloud Edition:
I am a happy owner of Iomega 2TB (2x1TB) StorCenter ix2-200 Network Storage, Cloud Edition. It has satisfied all my storage needs. I just connected the device to my home network and it started to work perfectly fine. The device is strong on the technical front and has not failed to satisfy my needs so far. Connected to two computers the internet speed is quite fast.
Thanks to the gigabit Ethernet connector. It is a user friendly device as I was able to complete the setup without any calls to the customer care. 2 TB memory is quite a lot space and I am confronted with the task of filling it up.

I have been using this for about a month now. Some of the terms in the instructions were a little murky but once I got past that everything was great. I am using it as my Home video/photo storage as well as my VMware vSphere home lab.
By the way this is the only NAS in this price category that is in vSphere HCL and it has iSCSI and NFS!
The only cons is that it is running hot (57C).

Used for local storage on an Axis AVHS video system, this thing was ridiculously easy to install and practically configured itself. I get worried when there is only one compatible supplier for a particular piece of equipment because it can be lousy and you have no options but I've installed 4 of these so far and had no problems.

We have used Iomega NAS products since 2004 for our home office. The StorCenter ix2-200 replaced a unit that had served us well without incident until it stopped, after 7 years continuous, 24x7, running. The ix2-200 installed quickly and without any problem, firing up immediately and, after loading data, fully available. It is quiet, makes a bit of a chattering sound when writing a bunch of data but that is entirely acceptable.[...]

Comments about Iomega 2TB (2x1TB) StorCenter ix2-200 Network Storage, Cloud Edition:
I have yet to do too much with this but I have had no issues with the basic setup. Plugged it in, inserted the CD and voila, drives were mapped and able to be used. iTunes server worked as expected. Have yet to set up a Personal Cloud so I can't speak to that.
Device is a little noisy and can get a bit warm, but it says it's within specified tolerances.
