Comments about Alesis DM8 Pro Kit Professional Five-Piece Electronic Drumset:
All in all a great product for the price. I have had the kit about a week and I am just getting into the bells and whistles which are pretty easy to access. The kit was well organized in the shipping container (B&H always does a great job with shipping)and the kit took about an hour to physically set-up. I read a lot of reviews before choosing this kit based on price and features. Sonme of the reviews were not accurate ie: unable to save changes with sounds etc., you can do so by following the manual in the initial set-up instructions. Other comments were right on. The real feel drum heads are not real feel at all as they have hard rubber surfaces under the heads which makes them fall short of the mark. You may feel tingling in your hands if you play too long at a time. Wooden tipped or shock absorber sticks may help with this a great deal. The conversions mentioned on the web will void your warranty so I am hesitant to do this. The rack is adequate although the plastic mounts can slip and need to tightened carefully. All in all though the samples are very good with a great variety and plenty of room to create your own kits. THe real awsome features are the adjustability of the trigger settings which gives you plenty of creative freedom to program up to 100 or more of your own kits. You also have to adjust the set out of the box as the factory presets are not well established as far as trigger settings. You can get by playing right out of the box. Once you get it set up (make sure you read and follow the manual) this is a great product for the money. I felt that for what I wanted to spend for a home practice kit is was a better value than the competitors.

Overall very satisfied with this product. I would recommend it to friends. I needed a kit that would set up easily and allow me to play without bothering anyone else. The RealDrum pads help to make the experience more realistic, plus look great. However don't leave the store without extra TRS cables, I needed 1-6' to hook up the cymbal zones. Then two 10', one each for the two Transactive Drummers.

Comments about Alesis DM8 Pro Kit Professional Five-Piece Electronic Drumset:
I use this kit for personal recording at home. I am maily a bass player, but I found that in these times you have to be able to do it all! The DM8 is relatively simple to use right out of the box, it will take some time getting used when you are actually using it to record with your DAW. The 'drummer' program that comes with it is absolutely useless! So be prepared to already own or purchase one. Overall I am satisfied, it does exactly what I expected it to do and nothing else.

Comments about Alesis DM8 Pro Kit Professional Five-Piece Electronic Drumset:
I purchased the DM8 Pro Kit to record drum tracks directly into a computer based DAW. I works perfectly. One usb connection and I can use the kit to trigger interal drum kits within the software. In addition to record, I have found the kit to be a pleasure to use. The drum kit sounds are of execellent quality and diverse in nature. I is easy to use and program for sounds and kits that I want to make my own. For the price I think it is probably one of the best kits out there. The only negative element I have found is one I read about before purchasing, which is prolong playing (over an hour) can numb the wrists due to the solid trigger pads. However this can be minimized and eliminated with using the provide rubber rim coverings and acquiring anti-vibration sticks. I have only had the kit for two weeks so it is early to tell how will the kit will hold up over time, but if well cared for I think it will do quite fine, as it seems quite well made. I plan to keep it in the house for recording so it will not take a beating on the road. If you plan to use it live I would ensure it is well protected. This is my first electronic kit, and I would give it high marks for sounds, quality, responsiveness and eas of use.

Comments about Alesis DM8 Pro Kit Professional Five-Piece Electronic Drumset:
Very pleased. I use this mostly as a midi to pro tools and use addictive drums but the factory settings aren't too shabby. Wouldn't recommend the computer presets for pro recording on a song but they are fun to practice and jam with. ARRIVED TWO DAYS AFTER PURCHASE! overall very happy so far. user friendly, set up wasn't as bad as others say. if you have a friend and are focused it should only take you an hour and a half. unbeatable price compared with similar models. again, great to get the cops and neighbors of your back if you are a serious musician. plug it into addictive drums and it will sound like any drum ever recorded!

I am mainly a pro gutarist but I play drums as well as other instruments. My band uses my DM8 pro kit at rehearsals....everything is run to the board at rehearsals to force getting used to wireless in-ear monitors like we use on stage live. It works great. This kit is also used for recording demos and song ideas. Much easier than micing up a real set of drums. Don't kid yourself, you MUST read the module manual and you must tweak every setting to make it usable. Out of the box it is okay but if you want it to respond like real drums, you have to tweak the triggers and curves and all the drums. I created one kit to use for recordings and rehearsals. This is not my first e-drum kit. You get what you put into it. Right out of the box, if you are an experienced drummer, you may be disappointed. Tweak it and you will be loving it. My drummer who has been playing for 40+ years absolutely loves it after tweaking. He wants to bring it to a live show and see how it goes. There are many mods you can make to the pads to make them feel better and respond electronically better.....just do a web search...... modding alesis drum pads...do the mods!!!
The sounds are fine and the module is upgradable via USB. Much better than my previous DM5 and DMPro modules.
The real hi-hat pedal still isn't as good as it should be but it is light years better than the old Alesis hi-hat pedal.
