In addition to providing high fidelity audio and video processing, this disc player can be connected to the internet via its Ethernet port to turn your living room into a virtual gateway to on-demand movies and TV series. It supports popular services like Netflix, Blockbuster, CinemaNow, VUDU and Film Fresh to give you access to a myriad of choices right at your fingertips (some may require a subscription).
The BD-SP809 is built for HD entertainment, with support for 3D Blu-ray playback and full HD 1080p resolution for crystal clear video. It supports BD Live extras which are also accessed through an internet connection and inlcude filmmaker chats, interactive quizzes and previews. BONUSVIEW lets you see audio and video in two separate windows. No matter what you're watching, superb picture quality is ensured with Marvell Qdeo technology -- it provides precise de-interlacing, noise reduction and 1080p upscaling of standard video sources.
You can also enjoy your CDs and videos, music, and photos sent from a DLNA 1.5-certified media server for even more options. With two HDMI ports, you'll be able to easily switch between two displays, like a main TV and projector. This disc player also features a high-precision clock, separate blocks for video and audio circuitry, and a vibration-reducing top cover -- all to allow for excellent A/V quality. And to top it off, the easy-to-use on-screen display makes for seamless operation of the BD-SP809.

i am very happy with this player,it more than exceeds what i expected. the picture quality is great on bluray and regular dvds. the only drawback is no wireless connection. other than that it is and excellant player. before i forget, the 3d is great.

This player is my primary optical disc and content streamer for my setup. While it plays blu-ray discs just fine, its real cache is as an excellent DVD player with good upscaling qualities, something you don't see in most blu-ray players. That to me is worth the premium. Is DLNA compliant and has apps for most movie streaming (Netflix, VUDU, Film Fresh.)

I bought this to compliment my TX-NR809 and must say I am extremely happy with it, however let me say that for this price I expected a few more features like Wi-Fi (need UWF-1) and compatibility with some video formats (MKV). The USB port cannot handle external USB drives and BD-Live can only be accessed when and external USB flash is inserted. However when a Blu-ray is inserted then the quality behind this player starts to shine. Audio and video are amazing and the player does not disappoint. Combined with the TX-NR809 it looks great as well. Fortunately my Samsung Smart TV makes up for the mediocre online features.
