The BD-SP309 Blu-ray Disc Player (Black) from Onkyo is a full HD 1080p 3D disc player with support for media streaming using your home network, movie extras with BD Live, lossless audio formats from Dolby and DTS, and multi-format playback that includes DVDs, CDs, and several file types. This versatile entertainer also features a sleek contour that will pair seamlessly with the look and video output of your HDTV.
But, back to the main attraction -- after all, it's a Blu-ray disc player. That means it will allow you to experience the detail and realism of the Blu-ray format, including Blu-ray discs encoded in stunning 3D. This format is capable of holding up to five times that of DVDs and outputs a maximum of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels (1080p) so you can enjoy some of the most stunning video available.
Beyond disc-based capabilities, the BD-SP309 also supports various multimedia functions and an Ethernet port for home networking. Videos, music, and photos stored on an in-house media server can now be incorporated into your main entertainment system. The BD-SP309's Ethernet port also supports internet radio and video on demand via Netflix or VUDU for a plethora of added audio and video content at your fingertips.
The Ethernet port also opens up the interactive, content-rich world of BD-Live -- you'll have access to Blu-ray extras like filmmaker chats, quizzes and previews. It also supports BONUSVIEW for picture-in-picture displays of multiple sources, with one in a smaller window. Connectivity on the BD-SP309 is rounded out by two USB ports that let you play media from a variety of storage devices.
This player supports content encoded in HD formats like AVCHD and DivX Plus HD, and all standard definition video can be upscaled via HDMI to widescreen 1080p. As well as handling 3D video, the HDMI output also supports lossless audio from Dolby and DTS to really complete your home cinema experience and put you right into the action of your favorite entertainment. This versatile yet affordable entertainer packs network functionality, access to interactive extras and superb compatibility with the Blu-ray format into a slim package that will fit into any setup.
